After comparing animations at the start of the video, I thought nothing more needed to be said, in the sense that the point was made and proven : ) Great video!
I bet those concord "players" did not even play the game at all, they're just using Reddit as a platform to lashed out their agenda since that site is a hyper echo chamber attraction. When I play any games I tend to want to feel rewarding that is impossible to achieve irl. Comparing the two Rivals give you the sense of your imagination perfect form kicking ass and having the MVP winning animation give you the sense of "hell yeah" very entertaining next match pls, whereas Concord kinda make you feel like if you're playing a inferior weirdo fighting against another inferior weirdo, only one inferior weirdo wins that come with the corniest victory line ever. I don't feel like I'm being entertained or feeling of great winning after those effort of fighting, it just make me not to play the game due to how boring it is I do not know what going on with the media and western devs, but if they keep this up... people will surely be even more divided and the campaign of "diversity, accepting everyone as everyone is special" will never reach it. To me diversity is cool when you discover new things or new cultures like Black Myth Wukong for example, it feel different when you first entering the Chinese folklore so interesting similar but different prior to their culture. If you just mash all color skins, cultures or whatever into one that need to co-exist then to me it will feel bland and boring because I know you and you know me, nothing else we can learn and improve from one each other
Yeah, I totally agree, I love exploring other diverse cultures, but I don’t like when people turn all of my video game characters into glorified modern Day nerds
I agree, free-to-play would have helped more people get in the door to try the game, like it did for me. After playing it, though, the game is genuinely really fun. I don't even feel the need to try hard, I'm just enjoying the experience.
Forsureee 🙌 There are a ton of factors that come into making a game successful, marvel rivals does basicslly everything right. but just like there are a ton of factors that go into making a relationship work, if you aren’t attracted to the way the person looks, you are starting at a tremendous handicap
Sue storm based on Aruu which is a real girl. Shocker right, I know. Another thing, Sue storm's skin Malice in comic book has more skin revealing. (If I get the info wrong please do tell me)
The only thing worse than bad design is the same design. Concord despite its failings tried to do something different. Overwatch hasnt shyed away from making cool unique heros that have idealized figures. It just depends on tone. I would argue that Marvel Rivals Character designs even from a body figure standpoint would look horrible in a game like the last of us which is meant to be grounded. The last of us has great art and design. This doesnt feel like great criticism when you look at the totality of games made by devs across the world and realize they are all making really cool and interesting games.
Investor problem, not devs. We know this 1000 times over. Concord designs were planned from an investors table and not by the development team. And from someone that both works in the industry and knows how things click, getting ANYTHING approved by the higher ups is hell. An endless uphill battle against bosses who think they know the recipe for success and at the same time think games have not evolved since Pong. Also, feels a bit clickbaity to once again, blame Concord's failure only on its design when EVERY other aspect of the game was fucked. From it being a paid game to being only on Playstation and PC. Just a pile of bad investor decisions. And "pretty" characters don't save a game, case and point, First Descendant. 90% porn bait designs, 10k players peak. If Marvel Rivals was only Overwatch 2 mechanically, it'd not have any of the popularity it has now.
I also blamed it on being first person, having bad designs, costing money up front and not having the “fun” factor of marvel rivals, which is what Tim Sweeney said. That being said, Building a community around visually appealing characters is a lot more impactful than some people will admit. I think it’s monumentally important. It gives it a virility factor which is a marketing powerhouse, plus when you put out designs that appeal to the losing side of a culture war, you’re starting to battle at a tremendous handicap
@@PaulseTV "around visually appealing characters is a lot more impactful than some people will admit." Absolutely agree with this part. Want it or not a big boost that can't be denied for Marvel Rivals popularity is its entire cast being already existing characters. You don't need to make fans of Loki, they already exist because the character is amazing, and so forth for many of them. I really dislike the focus on the "culture war" aspect that most critiques take nowadays though, because both media and investors are actively excusing bad game design over just "triggering" extremists. And sadly a lot of internet culture is just spoiling the already rotting body more. People cried for BG3's accessibility options and what we were shown, now it's praised. It's sensationalism at its best, and full on rage baiting at it's worst. At the least, we still have amazing indie games. P.D: My bad on missing the other details on the video. Hearing blaming of devs working on a barely living wage rather than investors just pushes some of my buttons, lol.
@@ThrashRats I am suffering from RUclips grift burnout as well, that’s actually the video I’m making today, I do think this case in particular is funny, because I genuinely hate the character designs of Concord, and I think that it’s worth roasting, but grift is getting out of control. I’m going to try to give balanced takes on this channel, I’ll take jabs at both sides. The culture war is making everything worse for the most part. But I respect your take and appreciate the comment, I think it’s all very nuanced and worth talking about rather than just joining the echo chambers
@ThrashRats I think a part of nuance that gets lost is that those cultural groups for the most part don't want unappealing characters - they just want more variation in the appealing characters. People shit on concord for trying to appeal to these groups, but these groups would probably take base overwatch over concord to begin with. Roadhog is a masterpiece of design, and he's not exactly what I would consider a conventional shape. "We were trying to go for this group" just isnt a good enough excuse for bad, bland character designs when other games can do so and look appealing on a general level.

Thanks! Appreciate the comment 😊
19 inches of venom
That’s what I get when I go into quick play as the punisher lol
0.44 this looks like intestine
Oh god yeah it does…Yeah it’s like they found every creative way to make these characters horrible to look at lol
this had great quality for some reason only having 300 subs. keep grinding man and based take
Thanks bro, definitely will do 🙌 just started so I’m still learning how to do this haha

Yeah exactly, people are just coping

Marvel rivals picked a design that fit the style, concord failed at both design and presenting an appealing style.
@PaulseTV yeah, I agree my point was to say that it was unique despite all of its failings. Most studios are picking complimentary styles.

Also, Western Design??? Firewalk is just a subsidiary of PlayStation Japan.
