Why play this Vox pedal only through a Vox amp? Why not use at least one or two other types of amps to see how truly Vox-y the Mystic Edge is? After all, a Vox amp already sounds like a Vox ... because it is.
That's a valid point! Because surely the point in the pedal is to be "Vox in a box", and their target demographic is people who don't already have an AC30? Otherwise, what's the point? I've seen a few Vox in a box pedals and not been 100% satisfied, so I'd be curious to see what it sounds like on a Mesa Boogie or a PRS MT15. My Vox AC15 is the only amp I regret selling, so if the Mystic Edge works out, I'd be a happy man.
Andrew Bradford: that's a good point, i don't think trying this vox pedal in a vox amp is a bad thing necessarily. maybe the person in the video wanted to pair them together to show viewers what it sounds like, but i agree with your saying though. it would've been nice if he tried it in a few other amps besides Vox. i do like what im hearing from the pedal itself, my only criticism is, he had the gain set pretty high and the volume was a little too loud. there were times my ears started ringing because i can hear some buzzing from that hollow body guitar, maybe it was just my hearing but my ear did not agree with it. the Strat sounded the best to me with this vox pedal. Vox amps by themselves aren't bad, I've actually tried a few. im not the biggest fan of them, but they can work just fine, but depending on what pedals your using, some will sound pretty good, others will make you wanna pull your hair out. im definitely not the most knowledgeable when it comes to amps and pedals, but even the most average person can hear how something sounds in your ear from another. i have a blackstar amp, nothing special about it, i only paid less than a 100 for it, but it's gets the job done. i only have a couple of pedals, i tried different ones on my amp until i found something i liked. i have one reverb pedal, one overdrive pedal, and one fuzz pedal, and a compressor. i didn't know what a compressor was, and still don't quite understand them fully. but the way they work, there meant to minimize that buzzing noise you get from playing, it helps clean up the sound to give you a clear sound
I have some new speakers that won't be adequately served unless I can get a signal into the big power amps. I believe that this unit could simulate that input.
Can you kindly clarify the power requirements, which appear confusing? The manual states a 9V consumption of 95mA, but recommends a 600mA 9V power supply? Thank you.
After readin a few reviews on a possible 9V pwr supps with NEG centers needed for this pedal, Id guess that the need for 600mA or GREATER is to pwr multiple pedals?..I was gonna get one for $ 8.54 thru GC but it was only 500mA and a guy said no way would it pwr 3-4 pedals?...Im just an ole road drummer tryin to EEEK out and solo existence playin gtr /vocal now so Im new to pedals but WHY the NEG center is what ID like to know? Ive got 5 adapters here ALL POS centers...LOL..NO BODY , no WHERE even mentions how LONG that tiny tube is expected to last?
Doesn't come with a power supply, but with a 9v battery. It's a 9v pedal, Boss pattern input. It's a great pedal, I've three valvenergy models, and they're the best pedals I've, together with Vox Flat4. I use them sometimes as a preamp and sometimes as a overdrive of clean boost.
Man.. IM BUMMED!!!!..This , and Pete Thorns video sold me on this pedal. I FINALLY got the OD tonality/texture/and jangley vibe Ive been lookin for my 50s-90s solo show....Bought one used in GREAT condition from GC..Tried it with a battery first. Started dailin in settings for several tunes THEN.....after 15 min...LOW BATT appears?.....Keep playin...THEN ...it shuts down..Wont work in bypass OR FX mode....Check battery....its still fully charged?...Try another NEW battery....Same thing?...The tone changes a bit with 9V pwr supp. Battery sounds BETTER ( crunchier MIDS), and overall better TONE...BUT? this pedal is useless to me cause I play alotta gigs at places with no AC...WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!! Anyone else have this prob?...😞
