4-2-1 manifold isn't any less restrictive than the 4-1 manifold, it just changes the pulse tuning of the exhaust. Some engines respond better to 4-1, others 4-2-1 as each type creates different power curves. Plus the MX5's stock manifold isn't actually that bad.

The 4-2-1 will typically generate more in the mid-range though. That's essentially the trade-off. Similar concept of long tube vs short tube headers in V8's. An engine's an engine. The physics don't change from one to the next. That 4-2-1 isn't doing much for his peak number, but it'll generate more throughout the mid-range and upper-mid.
TSI's actually may increase engine temps as the radiator works best by having a lower pressure in the engine bay, this helps draw air through the radiator.
Coils, fender flares, wider wheels, and maybe a roll bar? I think those would be some nice mods to do next. But I'm all down for boosting it ASAP. I mean, who doesn't love boosted cars?!
whats that in 2:47 :O also NA engines do not benefit from straight exaust. it needs a bit of restriction in exhaust for richer fuel mixture in cylinders.

+js98912 Yeah I'm aware of that which is why I said you'll soon get bored of the power. It's not all about power. I've known lots of people to go down the turbo route only to get bored months later. A nice itb setup with some high comp pistons and cams won't make as much power but would provide a razor sharp engine that's more rewarding and fun to use.

i really want you to put a supercharger instead of a turbo, youll get less boost and make less power, but a supercharger is just so unique, like not many people would put a supercharger in it, and if you do put one, please do a positive displacement or "twin screw" supercharger
please do independent throttle bodies!! instead of a turbo or supercharger, i love them and they look great, some serious useable power aswel with them
My e30 has that one tire fire too. Im saving up for the rear disc swap and eventually an lsd. Right now my main focus is the m20 Im rebuilding and turboing, but thats gonna be a long ass time before Im done with that.

Phil consider hood struts, I have them on my car and they're awesome. You lift the hood 4 inches and it just opens the rest of the way by itself.

Fast Forward Superchargers just released a new cold-side kit with a TVS 900. That should compete well with the current turbo offerings ;)
