Cool test. Results as expected. Love to see that Leica R compared with a Contax 28mm 2.8 (Love mine!) And if you want crazy flair, try the Vivitar 28 f/2 for under $100.

The Sigma lens is looking pretty good! But it seems to have one stop less DR than the Leica lens 🤔
Obviously I prefer the footage filmed with the Leica!
I think the sigma is just over saturated with its colors. But good call!
Yeah, I agree about the clean sigma comment is my style lens, although I would probably tweet the softness with a filter and/or in post.
So why not shoot with a vintage lens? Less work in post or less glass between your talent and the sensor
@@Ansonandco Actually, I have an upcoming video and picture taking event with the candidate and I just purchased my Helios 44-2, with an EF adapter and if I like the setup, and I know I have extra glass with the metabones, I'll try it with another vintage glass and without an adapter with glass.

I have the sigma. But also building a contax set as the Leica route is too much for me.
Zeiss is some great glass!

That is a fair assessment. May be hard to rent the Leica R specifically, but it’s out there.

@@Ansonandco i love full frames but BM offers too good specs for the $$ n not much others can offer great codex thats why im still with the 6k
@@blialee4837 oh believe me I agree. If it wasn’t for my terrible experience with the 6k pro I would probably still rock their cameras but now I’m most likely moving on from newer BMD cams. Still got the OG 6k and OG OG and love them though
@@Ansonandco yeah its a trade off with bm when you get a bad unit it sucks. Thats their only downfall. Been looking at the r5c but uncompressed raw is hard to deal with lol. I wanted a z cam f6 but thier internal raw isnt good. So it will always lead me back to the og 6k
@@blialee4837 I actually looked at the r5 c as well. Pre ordered it even, but actually ended up cancelling and buying an s1h. That may be one to check out possibly.

I had a Sigma 18-35mm and used it for many years as my main lens but somehow i dont like it anymore. Sigma lenses look flat to me and enhance the digital picture, which is a shame because they have great value and are perfect for photography. With a black pro mist its just an gloomy digital picture but still not the real organic softness which cinema lenses provide
Sigmas are great for specific jobs, but definitely lack character
