I was at this show in 2003 after Jazz Fest. They played for like 8 hours straight, people were taking naps in their seats listening to the best show ever! So many musical guests. Warren Haynes asking the crowd if they’re still awake. Most were, some weren’t. Surprise Bucket List experience for sure.
@Gradey3 I think it's Abts, but regardless of what his name is, he is one of my favorite drummers. Gov't Mule is really one of the best bands out there. Very underrated.
I love this video. Dirty Dozen Brass Band with Herbie Hancokc wow.!!!! Roger Lewis has been our customer for many years. New Orleans Music Exchange. This brass band is absolutely phenomenal. People in the music field have to learn more about talented brass instrument . It is so essential to teach people about our cultural music in this country specially New Orleans. I fully support this band, this video and all the brass instument musicians.Eventually i will make more comments about this band!!
It ought to be illegal for there to be anything that makes me this happy without a prescription. This is one of my three or four favorite single Mule performances ever. That whole night was amazing, so glad it was preserved on DVD and CD.
what a treat, I completely enjoyed EVERY musician's contribution and I have to thank a great dude for bring GREAT musicians the forefront. Then he let them do THEIR thing without taking it and making it his. Thank You Warren, 'show & tell' was great...
I totally hear you. I would also call it a funk standard. It may be on the R&B standard list. I have already checked the jazz standard list, and Chameleon is on it.
i sat next to him on a plane from atlanta to minneapolis and we talked about music and trombone playin..(i play b bone) and i had no idea who he was...i had never heard of him..he gave me tips and we talked about gigs and shit....few days later i saw him on youtube...fuckin insane!! i thought he was just another bone player like me....crazy shit....
A thousand likes out of 178,000 views? What the f$$k is wrong with people? Enough world class talent here to start a country. I guess if you know, you know. On second thought I kinda like being one of the cool kids who gets it. Cheers!
Terrible performance by bass and drums; lost place three times; looking at each other for a reference point, never got back to the main groove of the song; horns = awesome
Are you guys criticizing these cats stoned or just stupid? It's a fucking jam you morons! Nobody's looking at a chart or trying to find a conductor. These are hardcore, badass players who couldn't care less what some wannabe thinks about them. The old saying applies: Those can, do. Those who can't do teach. Those who can't teach, criticize. Just tap your feet and enjoy the music.

Music was born thousands of years ago to become these 10 minutes. Straight up.

@sitarlo and laissezfukd Yeah, sorry.. I commented on the wrong one..
@ThemJazzyBeats circular breathing
Anyone think it kinda looses the groove a bit around 4:30 ?
world has ended
We call this "Walking Around The House" music... go ahead, try it out
jesus christ in a waffle, this is like winning a fight against andre the giant
epic!: video lasts 9:47 and it's not even all the song
This is too much funk! I'm only a white guy, I can't handle it all!
lol @ thinking the horn section is bad, they're some truely incredible musicians, not having an alto isn't a reason for not liking the dirty dozen
1st time played - I'm not sure it was even rehearsed
finally!!! I'm sorry to say but maynard's band is nothing compared to this one
..the horn section is terrible? whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
I think the horn section is terrible. Could definitely use an alto sax. Love the bari though
