If I were to reach Herbie's age, they would have to drive me around the stage in a wheelchair... and what does Herbie do? Jumps around like a young lord... Brilliant music, I've loved Herbie since Wah Wha's days (1976)...
I was Herbie's CHIEF ENGINEER back in the 80s during the time ROCKIT introduced BREAKDANCING to the world on the GRAMMYs. I was literally with this man for 3 years in his studio and on the road and I can tell you that he is nothing more than A FORCE OF NATURE! We would literally sit in his studio for DAYS & DAYS just to get THE RIGHT SOUND/PATCH for his DX1 or other instruments. We were the FIRST to INSTITUTE STEREO SAMPLING with the FAIRLIGHT when the FAIRLIGHT was still a MONOPHONIC MSAMPLING INSTRUMENT. During these time, some of his friends would drop by; i.e. Wayne Shorter, Quincy Jones, Billy Dee Williams, Carlos Santana (just to name a few). I can not tell you the INTENSE AURAL, ENGERGY AND OVERALL POWER that was exuded from Herbie at all times. Being in his constant presence for so long was like being CHARGED BY THE SUN. [Like Superman] Except, after all of these years, my CREATIVE BATTERIES are still at FULL CHARGE. I think that he is going to OUTLIVE US ALL (lol). I am also an inventor and I created an AUDIO TECHNOLOGY that I have been LICENSING to the industry for the last 40 years. [ auralist.stuff2know.net ]
Wow, I watched him live like 20 years ago and he hasn't changed that much. After the show, he stayed around to have a little chat with fans and said the secret to his youth was Buddhism. ☸️
🤔 Is it just me ... or did the bass player totally lose the signature bass line groove and everything turned into an open jam session? Hancock opened "Chameleon" with the bass hook but after he stopped playing it the bass player did not keep it going ... and Hancock steps over towards the bassist but bassist doesn't pick up on what Herbie is trying to signal to him while in front of the audience. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yes! One if the nastiest grooves ever
Brings back memories. Terence and I grew up together in New Orleans. Played in same bands as kids, went to same school. Great musicians!
Incredible!
Still funky, after all these years.

This is WRONG! You don't identify the other musicians.
