• Dead Rising 2 [PC] - H... Игры
Before anyone complains this doesn't work, PLEASE READ:
1)Disable Steam controller through DR2 game settings in steam library.
2)MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU ARE RUNNING THE PROGRAM AS ADMINISTRATOR. This is the most common mistake.
3)CHECK THE ISSUES TAB AND DOWNLOAD ANY FILES IT NEEDS
4)ENSURE YOUR SETTINGS ARE CORRECT AND THAT YOU HAVE ADDED YOUR DEVICE TO THE PROGRAM.
5)MAKE SURE THE PROGRAMS EXE FILE IS IN YOUR ROOT DIRECTORY FOR DEAD RISING 2.
It clearly does work, just try some troubleshooting before you complain :)
😂😂😂was gonna say it wasn't working but turning ALL controllers off in steam settings did the trick thank you sir for all your hard work
@@chickenwing7365 No, THANK YOU for reading the comments and not being shitty with me leaving some parts out of the video (my controller works regardless if I have steam controller enabled or not, but it's different for some people) so I added it to the comments. It seems to have bothered some people lmao 🤣
Seriously thank you so much for this guide when nothing else worked 😭😭
Sorry people gave you such a hard time, I still think it's a great video, it just baffles me how ALL dead rising (except 1) pc ports have controller issues :/
Appreciate the guide and these extra tips but this just does not work for me. every time I attempt to run the game with the program active I get some sort of Windows error sound. and even though x360ce is reading the inputs, the game refuses to detect them. and is impossible to force Steam Controller to off now even though big picture mode
@@Kaminoyouni mine did that, in the program does it show a green or red checkmark in the controller tab, and sadly the steam big picture trick doesn't seem to work, i tired it before going to this video.. or at least it didn't work for me
Thank you!!! Not being able to use a controller was driving me nuts. This worked so well 👍🏻😁👍🏻
Seriously, THANK YOU!
I didn't understand first, why following your tutorial step by step it wasn't working, then I read the pinned message and BINGO now it works. 🤘🤘
Yeah I forgot to add it to the video but i also disable steam controller on all my games I use one for, I'm glad you read the comments prior to commenting as a lot of people don't seem to! I'm glad you got it working ☺️ granted this video shouldn't even have to exist but Capcom absolutely refuses to fix it when it shouldn't be hard to
@@KevinTheGuide It's really crazy that Capcom doesn't fix their games, especially with their Steam promo that was released not long ago...
Especially for Dead Rising which is still a big license from them, well... Dead since DR4 but hey ! haha
i followed all the steps it didnt work at first but then i troubleshot using the directions in the comments and it worked!! super happy and excited to play dr2 again after beating 1. this video was tons of help youre the goat 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Just remember not to tab out of the game otherwise it will stop working!
@@KevinTheGuide slammed my way through dr2 but i got dr2 otr and its not working again? do you know if its supposed to work with otr??
If you are having issues be sure to check the issues tab and check if the Xbox 360 driver is installed that's what help me and also thank you for the tutorial this is a lifesaver
Bro thank you so much I wondered wtf was going on ❤
Much love, glad it worked! Good luck on dead rising everyone!
video helped out so much! I swapped from Console to Steam and not being able to use a controller when driving or at all just sucked. Ran into an issue when first starting the game where it was greyed out, then I disabled the Steam Controller and Enabled the Xbox 360 Emu and it worked. Thanks so much!!!
Anytime!! Lmao I can't imagine driving in dr2 without a controller. The driving mechanic is pretty bad regardless of controller though ngl never knew a sports car could drive sideways 😂
very easy and straight to the point, got it working with no problems...thanks bro
Glad you got it! Game feels a lot smoother with the one/series x controller
Youre the best man, remember this game was a thing and was dying to play it again after so many years!
Bro thanks a ton. I tried it several times and it didn't work at first.
But I took a break and came back to it and followed your instructions down to the letter. I reinstalled the game from my D/drive to my C/drive and I think that might have been the issue.
I'm very much a noob when it comes to modding and I'm just figuring out how directories work lol.
Thank you! You made my gaming day!
thanks it actually worked. only additional step not shown was downlaoding controller support from the issues tab and it auto installs somewhere into windows and enabled it after.
Not sure that download is important. I got it to work prior to downloading that, but hey if it helps some people then go for it
Fantastic, worked for me, cheers mate
Thanks, this worked. I played it with these settings, but I downloaded/installed something from the issues tab. I don't know if that is relevant since that wasn't shown in the video. I also changed the settings in the Left Thumb/Right Thumb tabs, but that's more personal preference.
Anytime! I got it to work with the 360 controller without fixing that issue, but I've since installed it so I don't know if that would affect it or not!
You're a lifesaver man I was getting so pissed off but your video helped me. You have earned a like and subscribe thank you so much man!!!
Worked great! thanks bro!
I've followed this guide a couple times to make sure i've not missed anything, I've disabled all controller input on steam and made sure to check the issues tab, but no matter what i do nothing seems to get this to work for me! any help#?
As Frank West Says : FANTASTIC !!! - Great Tutorial , thanks !!
Awesome, Thanks for the help.
Thank you for this. At first, it wasn't working, but then I reinstalled the game and Xbox360CE, making sure not to replace any files before installing Xbox360CE and it worked. Had the same settings before reinstalling but the reinstall fixed it for some reason.
Yeah it's super finicky. Glad you got it to work 😊
Worked perfectly, i forgot to disable controller on steam at start but soon as i disabled it worked
Worked after I disabled the steam controller. Thanks man!
So I'm not sure if anyone has had this issue, but DR2 only picks up the controller when the game is out of focus. Any possible solution to that?
I get an error when i tried put the stuff on the screen you have?
Thank youuuuu! I was about to refund this and OFR, much love man!
Anytime! Just remember to open the 360ce program first in admin then start the game once it's open otherwise it won't work!
i dont understand why my joysticks are blank when i set them up and they dont work in game, every other button works except the joysticks.
THANK YOU SO MUCH MAN IT WORKED❤❤❤
Glad it helped :D
I tried both versions of x360ce but it doesn´t work for me in the game. I set up the controller and followed the steps in the video, still the game doesn´t recognizes my Xbox series x controller like it did with yours in the video.
I'm not retyping it, but try everything I put in my pinned comment. If even 1 setting is wrong it will not work
I installed it and placed it where it needs to go, but where you have to add the controller buttons. The emulator controller is grayed. I did go to game settings and selected all 32 bit and COM. Can you help?
Are you using an official Xbox controller or a third-party controller? Third party controllers sometimes aren't detected by the program, unfortunately. If you are using an official Xbox controller, make sure it's being properly detected in your Windows device manager. If you don't see an Xbox controller in there, look for something labeled "unknown device" that's probably your controller
Don't know if anyone happen to know how to fix my particular issue (in OTR), but my friend is having an issue where he cant use the right stick, x360ce says it reads its input but the game doesn't causing the camera to be locked in place, I have no issues with it and it works just as intended for 2 and OTR. I'm on windows 10 with a Series X controller, my friend is on Windows 11 with a Dualsense controller. we've tried several different guides and installed it multiple times and we cant seem to get it working for him. Not sure how much help you could give but any advice would be appreciated
If by dualsense you mean a Playstation controller, I am sorry, but I have no way of testing anything but a series X controller :/
when you are binding the controller make sure that 5 rows too the right of games that theres nothing in issues if there is download it and your controller should be good
I GOT IT TO WORK YES! THANK YOU KEVIN!
So for my story:
Followed directions in the video
didn't work
"1)Disable Steam controller through DR2 game settings in steam library." (pinned comment)
resolved the issues tab alert in x360ce
run game
xbox controller can prest START
go to options pc settings and enable controller
Also, this is me coming from trying the guide I found in the Dead Rising 2 steam discussions, that didn't work for me.
good job about making a video on this, i had to figure this out on my own like 3 days ago rofl. In my own trial/erroring i find that the 32bit xboxce works better than the "works for all versions" version. and i didnt have to set up the buttons they were all configured automatically and i beat dead rising 2. I think theres a checkbox for auto configure
Yeah mine didn't have them already configured. I don't really think the version matters honestly, I was also told that you had to use version 2.02 or something specific like that for the Xbox 360 wireless controller but I got it to work in 4.17. it's just much nicer using a one/series x controller. Idk anyone who has a fresh feeling 360 controller most of em are pretty worn down
Hey man, i had mine working for about a day but i restarted my pc and it kinda ruined it all. It still reads my controller but when i tab back onto dead rising its not reading it anymore. Any advice?
@@MajinKungLao Same. There is something he missed when making this guide
So, this doesn't work on an Asus Rog Ally?
2 QUESTIONS
- Does the Xbox ONE controller have to be wired or can it be wireless?
- Do I have to do this every time I turn on or install the game?
It can be either wired or wireless as long as 360ce detects it!
And once you get it installed and set up, all you have to do is open 360ce as administrator prior to opening dead rising 2. If you uninstall DR2 and delete the root folder you'll have to set it back up once you reinstall the game. But once you set it up all you have to do is open 360ce that's it
It worked! God bless you.
Hello @Taming My Impala i followed every step of your video and it all worked out yesterday. but today when logging in i tried to play the game again and the controller wouldn't work anymore. All the settings would still be the same as yesterday for the configuration of controller but the game wouldn't detect my controller. even though my controller works and can access Xbox game bar. But i'm pressing A and other buttons and nothing happens. i verified and it says in meny that controller is enable and it even gives me the option to press B to back out from settings but when i do nothing happens. i uninstalled the game and the program and re did it all over again and it just doesn't work anymore.
I've heard of this problem happening, not sure what causes it. You're running it in administrator mode, correct? This guide is a hit or a miss for some people. If the original company that ported this game was still active they need to make every controller compatible, however this game was released when Microsoft's old windows game platform was still a thing and I doubt they are still active.
@@KevinTheGuide yes, i followed every step of the video. it worked before then , the next time i log in on my computer it doesn't work anymore for like 6 hours and then later on it came back like nothing happened. it's really annoying because if it does it randomly it might do it when i try to stream the game to friends
@@arnaudlahaye7037 I have had that happen a bit if I tab out of the game, for some reason the controller will stop working until I restart everything. If you do get it working, don't tab out of the game for any reason. The game has serious controller support issues and the fix in the guide is merely an off-brand band-aid. Have you checked and cleared any issues on 360ce through the "Issues" tab?
@@KevinTheGuide my issues are not linked to Tab. I think i finally figured it out. i have to first play any other game with a controller so it is registered when i go on Dead Rising 2 after. if i start by going to dead rising 2 first without playing any other game before with the controller, then for some reason it won't work. that's weird but so far this theory has prooved right
Its 4 may 2024, it still works!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Having trouble with this. Followed all the steps in the video and pinned comment but it appears that steam's new settings/layout don't allow for the steam controller to be turned off at all? I have unchecked every possible setting relating to controllers but can't fix it.
The option is still there. Go to your steam library > right click dead rising 2 > properties... > Controller tab > Override for Dead Rising 2 > Disable Steam Input (from the drop down menu)
There's no unchecking, it's just a single drop down menu. You must be in the general settings
Also keep in mind this fix is like fixing a bridge with Elmer's glue, the PC port is probably one of the worst ports out there (only beaten by saints row 2)
@@KevinTheGuide To update this, I eventually did get it working. Uninstalled everything, reinstalled and followed the video again, and it worked this time even though I'm pretty sure I didn't do anything different. Thank you!
You're definitely right that it's a shit port but I'm glad it's finally working.
@@KevinTheGuideit went well thank you!!
so i followed the instructions and at first it worked then 2 days later it stopped working any change u would know whats up?
It's just the port, I've never had it stop working (except with the Xbox 360 wireless controller, that one gave me that issue). It seems to vary from person to person, some it worked flawlessly for and others experienced what you are . The only way I was able to fix it was by uninstalling the entire game, deleting the folder, then reinstalling it. This is how it has to be until Capcom finally fucking listens to us and gives it an update that wouldn't take more than a day of their time
your the best bro it worked
Glad it helped!
Everything was working and out of nowhere after 3 days of playing the game it just stopped working???
Followed to the letter, still greyed out in the settings. Even tried loading dr2exe through xbox360ce app, no luck.
Then you didn't follow it to the letter. Did you disable steam controller? That's always #1 for any game you're using an Xbox controller for. Did you run 360ce as administrator? Are you starting 360ce before you run dr2? What type of controller are you using, official Xbox controller or an off brand?
@@KevinTheGuide Not using the steam version, ran 360ce as admin, ran 360ce before dr2, using a series x controller.
@@pyramid2012 not using the steam version? Then what are you using it on?
@@KevinTheGuide Using fgrpk version, finally got it to work using an earlier version of the application. Video was great.
does it work with a switch pro controller?
That's the weird part. Windows 11 doesn't pick up my switch pro controller so the program won't either. Steam itself picks it up, but not windows 11 :/
Edit: actually steam doesn't pick it up at all. Nothing does. I've tried every trick on the internet to get my pro controller to work for Zelda TOTK, but couldn't get windows to recognize it for the life of me
I got this to work yesterday and it was working Great. Once i restarted my computer it stopped working correctly. While mapping my controller i can hear it working in game (i can hear the menu select screen) but when i click back on Dead Rising 2 it stops working. It's reading my controller but stop's functioning when i tab back into game. Can someone explain this? Thank you
Yes same, i can tell its working but its like im missing a step. But everything in the video i did
I will try to replicate this issue. I might have had the same thing happen a while ago (I might be wrong), I think tabbing out of DR2 might cause it to malfunction. Try opening the program first then open DR2 after 360ce is loaded. Then just don't tab out of the game while it's running.
@@KevinTheGuide i think the problem is that when you tab out or minimize x360 it stops reading the controller, which is weird because it was just working you know? But i wouldn’t know how to fix that issue
same thing happened to me. Even if i don't Tab out the game doesn't detect controller anymore the next day
@@lordpoonslayer7808 this guide is merely a piece of tape holding a bridge together. The dead rising 2 pc port is absolute trash and until someone makes an actual fix for it, this is as close as we will get unfortunately:/
This was working and I made no changes to it obviously as it was working and all of a sudden it’s stopped working
@@BaileyMacDonald-wj6po this happens to a lot of people, even myself a couple times. Try to restart the game entirely, if that doesn't help, reinstall the program. Some people say reinstalling dead rising 2 entirely fixed it, but usually you won't have to go that far. Like I said, this is just a band-aid to get a controller working. Dr2 PC port is horrid
i have an elite controller will this work for an elite and an elite series 2? I am trying to get it to work for Off the Record and am having zero Luck!
*Update - Got it to Work! Thanks for the Help! My issue was disabling the steam input and then I had to run the game straight from the directory (would not run via steam or from the shortcut on my desktop!)
Okay I'm not quite sure what you mean by elite unless you're talking about the 360 elite controller, which will be better explained by my other video on how to use a 360 controller for it. However if the series x or xbone has an elite controller it should work just fine!
Just a rule of thumb, if windows is able to detect and use the controller, you should be able to use it for DR2 and DR2 OTR using 360ce
Thank you and thanks for the quick reply! your video is greatly appreciated i messed with this for 2 days until I found your video! My controller is an Xbox elite series 2. Running the game from my directory, disabling steam input, and resolving issues from 360ce were what ended up getting the controller recognized. @@KevinTheGuide
I don’t understand why I can’t map any of my buttons. Nothing is working for for me at all. Idk what to do
Here is the list of things you can try:
1) Make sure your PC is recognizing your controller
2) make sure your controller is the selected device being used by x360ce. It should say something with (Xbox One) at the end.
3) Try switching x360ce versions (two are listed on the website, one is a 32 bit and the other is universal, try the one you didn't use)
4) make sure you are using an official Xbox one controller, some third party controllers might cause issues
5) Check that you are running the program as administrator (I was still able to map buttons without it being ran in administrator mode, so this likely isn't the issue)
6)Make sure another program isn't trying to use the same controller. Don't run dead rising 2 at the same time you are working in the program.
If any of these don't work, try posting in a forum dedicated to x360ce. I don't know what could be causing this issue, but I know you aren't the only one suffering from this.
One more thing, the grey box by the controller 1 and to the left of your device name should both be green
It worked for me all yesterday, but when I try to play it today the game doesn’t even notice the controller anymore… when I launch the game
@@Nickabob45 this is a common issue a lot of times it can be fixed by deleting 360ce out of the folder, putting it back in and setting it back up
@@KevinTheGuide thanks for the fast reply! What seemed to work for me was adding the dead rising 2 .exe into the 360 emulator
Because I tried everything and it would not work for some reason
I'm leaving this comment here incase this happens to anyone else. For some reason despite doing everything listed the controller would work fine then as soon as I clicked start on the controller to enter the main menu the game would lock to pc controls. After fiddling around a bit I noticed there was an option under the settings in game that was listed as "Controller" make sure that option is on. If not it doesn't matter what yo do the game will not read the controller.
I have refunded the game yesterday XD, now im gonna buy it again, thanks for this info.
@@falapareturns0698 honestly if you have an Xbox or PS4 get it on that, it won't be such a hassle. Let me know if you have any issues
I followed exactly those steps but it did not work for me, it does not recognize any control
Is the 360ce program recognizing your controller input? Did you scroll through the comments and check for another possible solution? Is your controller being plugged in before or after you are opening 360ce? Is your controller an official series x/one controller or is it a third-party? Is your controller being read correctly by your PC?
Lastly, have you disabled steam controller for the game? If steam controller is enabled it will not work
Tried for about 2 hours and on a whim switched the xinput dlls to 64 bit and that did the trick. for some reason.
Thats weird haha for most people it's the opposite. Glad you got it!
Thanks a lot!
Glad it helped!
Ive tried My series X controller and a wired 360 controller using your method but its still grayed out in the pc settings menu. No matter what i do i cant gt this game to reconize the controllers but the controllers work find in widows and steam
Okay so what your problem might be is you have steam controller enabled. Go to the dead rising 2 settings in steam (click on the cogwheel that is on the opposite side of the play button) and then click on I believe it's controllers tab and make sure steam controller is disabled (I don't have access to my steam as I'm typing this, but it should be easy to find)
Also, try everything I have listed in my pinned comment if the steam controller is already disabled. One of those should get it working
@@KevinTheGuide I went to steam settings and disabled all controllers, right clicked dead rising 2/controllers/ disabled steam input. I tried 5 different versions of CE,putting them all in dead rising folder and making them match your settings. With the wireless series X or wired 360 my controllers don't work in the me u or game and enable is always grayed out. Nothing controllers work fine in steam and windows so it's still something with just dead rising 2. I uninstalled the game and tried again but same result .
@@joeynox run it as administrator as well? I just wish they'd patch it so it would work without the use of a third party application
@@KevinTheGuide I got it to work. I'm honestly not sure how. I tried 5 different CE versions and finally launching steam in big picture mode, then launching the game that way using the controller . It's a great games that deserves a remaster
Man idk what's going on somedays it works and somedays it doesn't want to work i never change any settings.
That is the unfortunate side to this. Mine does the same sometimes. It's rare for me, however I know some people have it much worse. I've said this in other comments but this workaround is like off-brand band-aids holding a bridge together. Remember to start 360ce first and then dead rising 2, also never tab out of the game (it glitches it out), and if all else fails, delete then reinstall 360ce.exe. The DR2 PC port is probably one of the worst ports. Next to the Saints Row 2 port, of course
controller won't show up in the devices to pick?
That sounds more like an issue with windows than the program itself. Make sure you're plugging the controller in prior to starting the program up. If that doesn't help then try checking device manager and see if it's showing up there. If it is, then try updating the device or uninstall and plugging it back in might help
Could it work the same for Dead Rising 2 off the record?
I would assume so! Just make sure you disable the steam controller through the games settings in your steam library. Does that one also have the issue with the Xbox one controller?
Series S controller, also did exactly, but still grayed out.
I tried it on OTR and my series x controller worked perfectly
hey everyone this video was amazing and i was able to play all night with a friend. unfortunately we tried to play again today and my controller is still enabled, i have the program open (ran as admin) and the game selected but my controller is not responding again. i can still enable and disable with MNK, but the controller isnt working ! if anyone has had this issue and resolved it lmk! TIA !
You're running it before you open the game, correct? If you try to open it after the game has loaded it won't do anything. I heard of that happening to people but haven't experienced it myself. Try deleting x360 out of the root directory of your dr2 folder, run the game to the menu then quit, then reinstall 360ce and set it back up. DR2 was ported when windows live platform was still a thing, so the port is super outdated
Does it support wired Xbox controller?
Depends, you'll have to use x360 for a wired one controller but a wired 360 controller will work without it
I tried this tutorial for off the record and it let me enable my controller but then it still wouldnt work
Yeah I haven't tried it for OTR yet, but I'll get around to it sometime this week. Idk who ported these games but they should be fired. If I find a workaround I'll let you know!
So I tried it out on OTR and it worked for me. Make sure you're running 360ce in administrator mode
@@KevinTheGuide how do i do the issue tab thing
This hasn't worked properly for me, the only button that work odly is the start button everything else is completely unresponsive.
nevermind im retarded
Enable your controller in DR2 options. If it's disabled the only thing that'll work is the start button. Also, check your button mapping and make sure you set it up right. If the start button is working then yes the guide got it working, it's something on your end
Downloaded this and followed all your steps in the video. Game now will not load at all.
That's new, actually. Sounds like something is interfering with your game's code. Try deleting the folder and reinstalling the game fresh. Then throw 360ce.exe into your game's root directory (default program files(x86)/steam/steamapps/common/deadrising2) and make sure to 360ce as administrator. Then run dead rising 2.exe in the same folder as administrator as well. I'm curious if that will fix it.
Like I said in another comment, this fix is really just throwing Walmart brand Band-Aids over a shattered vase. The game is horribly ported for the PC and the devs don't give 2 craps about it. Pretty sure they're no longer in business anyway lol
Awesome guide! I just beat Dead rising 1 and was going to play Dead rising 2 but realized the controller wasn't working no matter what I tried! You're a lifesaver!
ratio
followed to the letter and it doesnt work
It does indeed work, so probably not to the letter. Did you disable steam controller? Did you have the controller plugged in before starting 360ce? Are you running the 360ce as administrator? Lastly, try running dead rising 2 as administrator? I don't actually need to run dr2 as admin for mine to work, but windows works different for everyone. I've pinned a comment that has extra steps. Mine works for what the video shows
Does it work for ps4 controllers?
If the PS4 controller is detected by 360ce I don't see why not. I heard people using switch controllers as well
@@KevinTheGuide so do i just follow the same steps as in the video?
Bruh ain't no way I need another dumbass app on my pc to simply play with controller
Regardless thanks for helping people... I'm returning it
Yeah this is a problem that will never be fixed due to Capcom Vancouver (formerly blue Castle games) no longer exists
Its so annoying that we have to jump through all these hoops because capcom was too lazy to put out a patch that just allows the controllers to work
Well the problem is, when it was ported to the PC, it was most likely done by Blue Isle studios, an extension to Capcom that became Capcom Vancouver. This studio is no longer around since they sank after the release of dead rising 4 I believe and Capcom is not interested in dead rising anymore (although I've heard talks of a revival, but nothing confirmed). I doubt they want to spend any man power to fix it.
@@KevinTheGuide the ironic part of it is the first the third and the fourth dead rising all have fully functional controller support
I hate life
I hate capcom for doing a rerelease on consoles for this game but sending pc players to gfwl hell
Lol
If this is one of your biggest problems you got a great life
