It's really nice to get back into ksp 1 again, it's just like ksp 2 but I can do complicated things like this and not lose any frames. I miss playing it, so if you guys have any ideas for future videos in the game leave them down below!
on the first ksp2 vid you said youre never coming back, and i didnt like it. happy to see you back. idea: make an SSTO ( i dont think you made one, watch matt lowne or vaos for a hint)
Something I mentioned on a previous video but not on a KSP one: Build a rocket to orbit, capture an asteroid, and take that asteroid with you to continually mine as your fuel source to a destination of your choosing. I've never seen anyone do it yet, I think it will be tricky. Hopefully it's actually possible, the conversion rate of ore to fuel in KSP is unrealistically high anyway.
I did it once... I made a rocket with 3 detachable engines (Rhinos) that would attach to the asteroid then an engineer would tether the engines to the main craft and connect fuel lines then like 8 drills would drill in while a converter converted ore to fuel. I had to wait for my fuel tanks to fill up then activate them then let them fill you get the idea. My craft was for class E asteroids only bc class E asteroids are the only ones big enough while not to big. It was one of if not the most painful thing I've done in my opinion. My craft barely worked and just attaching a craft with an engine in the back might work if you add like 1 million struts (auto strut might help but I don't use auto strut).
@@ReidCaptain You will need to make sure it is worth it tho. Asteroids/comets (comets are many times larger and have a trail) have a limited number of ore, often not enough to make the whole hassle pay off. (It looks cool tho)
You should commit a Let's Game It Out and make something just absolutely absurd and ridiculous for an experiment that ends up actually working. I don't know too much about this game but something that could go into space and then basically grab an asteroid and use it to launch the rocket. Kind of like a trebuchet
I have a video idea: Try to land on a moon or planet and return to Kerbin without ever changing your orientation. So you have to SAS lock yourself to a direction and stay like that throughout the whole mission. I'm not sure if this is even possible but I'd love to see it!
Reid: I clipped the cargo bays together, which makes it hard to use. The Kerban engineers who had to miss their 5 year old kid's birthday and spend several 60 hour days just to perfect the Quantum Bullshittery needed to clip the cargo bays together, thinking Reid had a good reason and use for it: FK U, I QUIT.
KSP Tip: Do a regular Hohmann transfer instead of using a Mun assist to shoot you out of the Kerbin system and then encountering the target planet from there. The Oberth gains could have saved you 1000 m/s for Ike and 2000 m/s for Jool.
the gravity assist off of the mun made you more inefficient by a factor of around 2. Since you lose the Oberth effect. you literally spend twice as much Delta V as needed to get to Duna.
Still wondering when u gonna try some mods cause some mods have insane stuff (like a literal hyperdrive and new planets and systems) it really encourages making absurd designs and crasy manuevers and encourages replayability
@@ReidCaptain If u wanna skip all trasnfer windows there is a mod that adds a warp drive that lets u just aim for the planet and it will quickly send u off
I love ur ksp vids so I got ksp 2. Can u do a tutorial for a trip to and from the mun? I’ve gotten there on my own without a tutorial but no come back… thx soooooo much if u do! :)
While ksp2 looks nice, it feels really unoptimised and rather buggy compared to the original, leading to ksp1 lending itself much better to more complex projects like this imo, so I'm glad to see a new video on it

Great vids
Fly around the plant as fast as possible
Get the fastest orbit possible

Huh that's a great idea, I'll 100% add that to my list
@@ReidCaptain this sounds like a super cool idea i wanna see it

You were so concerned with whether or not you could, you didn’t stop to think about whether or not you should.

This challenge really embodies the KSP motto
What's the KSP motto?

it seems like that would be pretty easy using rcs or just engines in every direction.
It wouldn’t be too difficult using twitch engines and rcs, but it’d still make for an interesting mission
this is a classic
Posted a minute after video came out
@rufio7775im not a bot
@rufio7775 you appear to be outwitted
I think irobot meant the idea is a classic (or the old video rc mentioned)
@@irobot978 that's exactly what a bot would say...
19:04 I like how a rocket burning to pieces is "kind of okay"
That’s a very Kerbal thing to say in a situation like that
KSP but you don’t use gravity assists to reach your destination
me in every mission:
This is Wacky Wednesday for KSP
pls more ksp1, its literally what got me into ur channel and also what got me interested in space and engineering
3:56 The combination engine-fuel tank thing.
*_YES_*
I loved the creativity in the construction. Hoping for a KSP2 one sometime soon!
When they make a Mad Max movie but it’s in space
Lunatic Max
Unexpectedly a really cool looking rocket
Video idea use only 1 engine to get to eeloo
14:20, that is nothing, you've never seen the Odyssey by Bill have you? Or "lithobraking"
8:50 “Getting into orbit shouldn’t be this hard!”
Ha! I wish 😭😭
Strut is a part so it should be used once too :D. And that made me think if a strudless ship is possible.
autostrut:
Man I always get excited for your new videos!
Finally A good Ksp 1 vid from Reid Captain
Imagine using only one strut on this organised monstrosity
Pure skill
You know a sequel is amazing when it runs worse and has less features than the original game /s

Now rescue all of those Kerbels with a single lander
Elon Musk’s next big idea: This video
That staging must have been a nightmare
Make a rescue mission where you rescuing entire rocket from the surface and get it back to Kerbin
KSP Tip: Do a regular Hohmann transfer instead of using a Mun assist to shoot you out of the Kerbin system and then encountering the target planet from there. The Oberth gains could have saved you 1000 m/s for Ike and 2000 m/s for Jool.
Was thinking the same. He literally spent twice as much DV by doing that moon gravity assist.
This probably if a good idea, but you should make a space shuttle with the smallest engines and the smallest Solid rocket boosters.
didnt -VAOS- ShadowZone already do that with his microshuttle?
@@beimanuel942 I mean a full sized shuttle
@@SFSGODYT how many spider engines you gotta put to match the twr of 3 vectors
and dont even get me started on the srbs using only shrimps
@beimanuel942 Look, Reid did stuff that everyone thought was impossible, so this wouldn't be any different.
Frankenstein wants his identity back
yes you missed few parts most notable is LV-N engine, that would be really usefull as it is second most efficient engine in game
You have trims for unstables planes with alt+wasd without sas
Despicable Me ahh rocket
You could have used the nuke and the liquid fuel together btw. Impatient to see a double rescue mission with every single part
the gravity assist off of the mun made you more inefficient by a factor of around 2. Since you lose the Oberth effect. you literally spend twice as much Delta V as needed to get to Duna.
The ultimate challenge: use every part and land on every planet and moon
This is something Jebediah Kerman would build.
The most Kerbal Rocket I have ever seen
Ksp 2 Duna on a ksp one video a smarty thumbnail move
He used 2 SMALL OCTAGONAL CUBES!

I noticed in a lot of your videos that your main obstacle is not distance nor technological setbacks but the freaking lag

Why does it look so cool
It's kinda nice to look at
Imagine seeing spacex launch a rocket as goofy looking as this😂
I’ve thought of this were Reid came back to KSP 1
This is what happens when Orks find the Bol system.
The Swiss army knife of rockets
if this man gets mods he will be able to get to duna in 1 second
I kept laughing every single minutes of this lmaoooooo
if you had to pick one, would you rather play ksp1 or ksp2 and ignore the other?
I mean ksp 2 will almost certainly get better eventually, but if I had to take a game in its current state its a clear win for ksp1
I think you may have missed the thermal panels and the hitchhiker storage module…
Lets go more KSP😊
this just looks like my average rocket design
That bottom stage was built by gru
i still waiting for the all planets and moons challenge in one ship
{sorry to make you suffer}

That skipper tho
he used two small cube girders
Make a fully mechanical car, engine, diff, suspensio, all of it
Ksp 2 is not that buggy now, thanks to the For Science update. So maybe you can try that challenge in KSP 2
I think you gave me ocd, or made me suicidal from the mismatching, but its still good content
