    Quick tips:
    - Enable " advanced tweakables" in the configuration menu so you can use autostrut for no rocket wobbliness (right click any part you have placed and hit autostrut: heaviest part)
    - You can put as many octogonal struts as you want in a fuel tank and strap engines to them, so you can have maybe 33 engines in the bottom of one big fuel tank

    • @ReidCaptain
      @ReidCaptain  2 года назад +85

    Spark is the worst engine? That's quite an overstatement, it's perfect for early probes, and even late game landing probes (e.g. for seismic data gathering). It has not the best ISP, but it's very light and has decent TWR - which in effect grant more dV than using some other heavier, but more efficient engine

    • @atlas4733
      @atlas4733 Год назад +7

      Exactly my thinking. I’ve used the spark engine a lot, and even though it has very similar stats to the larger terrier engine, I love being able to reduce my weight on upper stages. It’s a great middle ground between the ant and the terrier.

    • @no3ironman11100

      @@atlas4733 Yeah spark is a slightly worse ant but with more TWR which can be good for your time and sanity, especially if your 0.625m rocket has like 3-5 of the smallest fuel tank.
      The video starting with saying it's the worst and pointing out it's thrust had me confused since it's also built with a decent atmospheric ISP which, albeit not usefull for most planets as the ones with atmospheres have too much gravity for a spark engine takeoff, (correct me if I'm forgetting an example where they could be usefull for that).
      It's a decent all rounder and inbetweener to the ant and the terrier.

    The spark engine is arguably the best LF/O thruster in KSP. Its only competition is the vector. When I did my grand tour mission which included the outer planets mod, I used the spark engine for everything except for the first stage of the Eve lander (which was a vector). The spark has enough Isp and TWR to create a ~3-ton Tylo lander or a ~5-ton Laythe lander. I'm sure the latter stat can be significantly reduced since I'm not good at atmospheric landings in this game. All these cases were, however, Apollo-style landers; creating a Kerbin launch stage from spark engines does indeed seem challenging.

    Worst engine? The spark is great
    1 lightweight
    2 relatively efficient
    3 early game
    4 delicious
    5 the most powerful tiny engine

    The spark engine sucks if you want to use it for liftoff, but its high thrust to fuel usage makes it good for small mun landers

    Don't swing by the moon if you are not extremely in need of a few m/sec of deltav and if you do you schould have an escape-trajectory already.

    The Spark is far from the worst engine in the game.

    It's stupid that to do these challenges, you have to face a lot of lag, maybe you could make a moded variant of X (example engine, X can be replaced by any engine) engine, but increase its stats 10x compared to the OG, larger size, the results would literally be the same but less lag because less parts.

    I use the spark engine all the time.
    Mainly for unmanned probes with no hope of returning to Kerbin, but still. Spark enjoyers exist.

    Spark is the worst? Nah bro your tripping, Puff is easily worse not to mention the twitch which is just a lower ISP version of the spark.

    Gravity assists off of the Mun are almost never worth it. They usually take about as much fuel to setup as the actual maneuver would've.

    you should look into indoorlands! they have a very in depth ride builder. you might be able to make or break something with it. letsgameitout made a video on it and he uses the ride builder.

    You can probably land and take off from Tylo in a vehicle 6-7 tonnes and 3-4 sparks and a lander can command module. Absolutely no reason to have 9 sparks just to get from surface to orbit.
