90s is the last of true happiness that kids and adults had. Most of us didn't own a handphone. And it was rare to see one. It was only pager and we call people by landline. And the internet was nothing like how it is now. We used to run around playing all day with neighbours and kids from the block. We didn't have to close our doors coz our neighbours were like family members too. But now the kids aren't even like kids anymore. Primary school kids asking for skincare for christmas gifts?! Babies having issues with sensory motor skills due to constantly staring at the screen all day. Generations are going backwards in IQ as well. I feel sorry for the future generations.
You know, every generation blames the next one. There was a time where 90s kids were thought to be the worst and most spoiled generation. It’s just going to keep happening.
I love how everyone says that the next gen is bad and etc. Old generations never think about that its their fault? We cant just grow up on our own

The same worries happens with TV, and what do you know we are all fine. People have been ignoring people since forever, before phones it was a book, magazine, newspaper, before that it was embroidery, and god knows what else people in 1800s do to ignore people.
We enjoy close families and good friendships, it doesn't disappear just because we have phones in our generation. A bit shy, maybe, and a bit stunted, due to covid (especially gen alpha), but nothing theraphy and good support cant fix.
The thing you should worry about is how easy it is to get informations nowadays, and you have to really dig to know whether its real or not, biased towards what etc etc.
Brainwashing has never been easier than now. Millennials, Gen Z may be fine, maybe Gen X too but the oldest and the youngest of us are very easy to brainwash nowadays, you can just tell by how far Q-anon has spread.

What is filter?
My father fell victim to these scams. It was what tore my parents apart as my father would cheat on my mom because he was trying to find a woman who looked exactly like this. It wasn't as high level now, as during that time, it wasn't so extreme, but i think if i were to go back and observe him right now, he'd be too absorbed in this world of catfishers.
People who fall for these lies were already losing to begin with. Paying to look at someone attractive over the internet is already a problem. Getting upset that they're not truly getting what they want isn't really the problem

In dating apps, you will also see men doing this but with photos. Although those are grade A scammers. I managed to talk to one, I know he's a scammer from the get go but I'm in the psychology field. I just wanted to know what goes in their minds. For some reason, I managed to extend our chats to almost two weeks with him opening up about his life and why he tries to catfish women. I feel bad for him too, but I told him he can still change his life.
I guess the way I see it is, the Audience is fully aware there are filters. They may not know to what extent. But I don't really see them as victims per se. They are sending gifts to a livestream personality. they are not promised a hand in marriage if they send a certain amount of cash. I see this as a two way street. The personalities are trying to make money. the 'victims' most likely get a shout out.
Yeah exactly I'm not sure what the problem is. It's not like you'll ever actually meet any of these streamers in real life. People are sending them gifts to sing certain songs or say certain phrases or do certain things, which they will do. Seems like people are getting exactly what they paid for? What does it matter what the "real person" is like when you are only ever interacting with the "streamer"? It's like people who complain about their favorite celebrities are nothing like how they imagined in real life. You are watching movies, they are acting, that's how it is.

Why not? The way I see it, if you are donating because you enjoy watching the streams, you are getting what you "paid" for. If you are donating thinking you will meet them in real life then, yes, in that case it would different than what you expected but as far as I know most streamers go to great lengths to protect their privacy and would not meet up with viewers anyways (those thinking they can get in a relationship with someone like Pokimane by sending a few virtual gifts really need a reality check)@@mikealvas

I knew already and I can recognized who is catfish in social media. Its really obvious, to smooth is like an AI. That's why I don't have social media and I feel stress using it. China and others as well which done that should stop manipulating people because it´s just too far. Honestly I'm interested in doing a social experiment, and just have some fun. I'm gonna keep things obvious so people can find out easily & I will have fun with it on as well. I'm more interested to see how people are/ what people want. For example there are vtubers. what if I just wanted to make my voice nicer on the ears more relaxing. I believe that is something I should be able to do, but if I find it entertaining to turn the relaxing voice off I would do it 100% because I love having fun.
