It is a natural process of the mind (Chitta) and reactions (Karma). Some mental/spiritual faculties survive after the death because the mind/Chitta uses them even after the death of the physical faculties of the previous body. The mental/spiritual and physical faculties are not parts of a soul because they are parts and processes of nature.

This isn't reincarnation. Reincarnation means 1 soul, multiple bodies. This is 2 bodies, 1 soul. It is more like a second chance at life, but in the body of someone else. Somehow, Shiva missed the chance of going to the afterlife after dying. Her soul possessed Sumitra's body. The seizures are the only inexplainable thing.

I come from the near village/town from this incident it is very much true and there proofs are well documented recorded and cross checked many times by many professionals and one thing that i can bet on is yes she was completely changed into someone else. I do believe in reincarnation because I mean some religions in India such as Sikhism and Hinduism believe in the processes of reincarnation, so as an Indian I am not surprised about hearing things about reincarnation. Reincarnation is a complex topic and I can't explain it myself, but this has happened well over many times in India. And in Sikhism it is also a thing that you have met your closest relatives in your past lives, and that's why you are still close with them. If you have any questions then you can ask me.

Similar incidents like this happens occasionally in where i live.
except it is the soul of a dead person that possess a living person who has a weak soul temporarily.
like this one case which took place 5 years ago for example a young girl who was travelling in 2 wheeler suddenly jumped down from her vehicle her body at first shaking violently then she started swaying back and forth her eyes shut. the people around stood to watch her as she started saying something pointing towards north.
she claimed that her body is there abandoned and she wants the people to give her a proper burial.
the people got scared and confused and they called a woman (priest?) a woman who could save people from possession who could perform exorism and who the lord himself could deliver his words through her.
long story short the woman arrived and after enquiring the possessed body the location of the place where the dead body is they allong with some volunteers went to the location. it turned out to be a forest and the body was exactly where the possessed girl had described. laying on the ground. they buried the dead body and afterwards the woman performed a ritual tellling the spirit to leave the girl's body. the spirit left thanking the people for the burial .
as for the girl she was extremely exhausted after the spirit left her body and she couldn't remember anything that happened.
that is fascinating as an indian myself, i thought these only happen in movies!

From my point of view, The seizures might be because of the process of adaptation(Cause of death: process of adaptation) . Meaning that Shiva's death is a must in the timeline, which required Sumithra to die in order for shiva to transfer the soul to Sumithra's body. This is indeed a unexplainable phenomena. I think they both had some subconsciousness switching of body for a few day's before death which will be the reason for her to adapt to Sumithra's body and Shiva's body must have failed to adapt and switch because Shiva's sister in law killed Shiva (Cause of death: Murder) . but still Shiva's experience in the past few days before her body switching is not revealed here.

Also many things including pictures of her, the fact that she has died now, the fact that she remembered all of her family, the fact that she knew where they hid a box of money in their home somehow mixes together and creates a disturbing feeling.

The concept of reincarnation is present in buddhism too. It simply means after you die, you will be born again in a different shape and form. This is not reincarnation. This phenomenon is called "Par-Kaya-Pravesh" in hinduism. It literally means that the departed soul occupies another dead body which is suitable to harbour the soul and the soul thus gets another run of life in a new body. This is a very advanced yogic practice which can only be done by intense yogic training throughout the life or even lifetimes. The fact that Shiva's soul is able to do this proves that she was a very advanced yogi in one of her many past lives.
