Oh Bob--- I love your videos so much!!! I have learned 99% of what I know about painting from you!!! I am a very late bloomer and just really starting to learn a lot about painting during this pandemic - and you have been the source of so much of what I am learning!!! This looks like a "Bob Blast" to be able to attend a workshop!!!
Thank you for this one! Such a lightbulb moment for me, I struggle with contrasts in my paintings, but you make it look so easy! I will practise this a lot ,very helpful video. Thank you! !
Was on the phone with support at Cheap Joe's today and ordering some of your suggested colors of Holbein. I threw in a plug for BobBlast for all the promotion you do for their product. Most likely as far as it went but can't hurt. Having fun doing some of this free styling with acrylics. Good break from tight representative oil work.
loved the video Bob... I've learnt a lot from your video's - just wish I could come to one of your work shops! if you ever come to the UK with a workshop would love to attend...
Thank you for all your videos as a new artist these have been invaluable I've tagged you in my Instagram efforts. Will you ever come to London UK? When is the worldwide tour?
Christopher Fountain Hi Christopher, you can order his color wheel here: robertburridge.com/ You also might want to subscript his weekly newsletter It comes every week. 😊
Bob, I don't think a white can be a 10 because it can't get any lighter. Any other color can become lighter. Don't let those senior gals push you around. :)
At 1:19, Bob insisted that yellow (or ANYTHING) from the tube is a 10 (i.e.: dark) and that it can't get any darker. Then he explains that 0 is white and 10 is black, so he's talking about a value scale. This doesn't any sense, which is why the students are confused about it. It seems like he's mixing up the topics of chroma (saturation) and value.
16:37 You really wonder if people are aware of this beautiful world around them. "The shadow goes towards...; ... it's on the right...." Ok, whatever lol... No I'm not making a judgment, it's common sense and ridiculous that this is something not known by so many. Sorry, no we don't "all do this".
He never admits he screwed up and confused people by holding up black blue and yellow and says they are all 10 when they come out of the tube....come on Bob
By far the major component of all Bob's workshops is participation. He's a great advocate of getting the students to paint for themselves. Obviously we're only watching a snippet of the class content. As Bob often says " You learn to paint by painting!"
Paint from a tube is a 10. That is why they’re confused. But does that apply to white? I don’t think they’re “using their adult brain too much”. They just want clarity. I loved your videos thus far, but you seemed to be a bit out of line today the way you answered these ladies questions.
I love your quote, "All runners fall down. The winners get up quicker.". I will be sharing that one. thanks.
"When you fall down just remember that means you're doing your best" thank you for these amazing words of inspiration!

We try to complicate things ...and they are so simple , like you said. Dark to light..dark to light. Another good video. Thank you Bob.

I love the longer videos, thank you
Thanks - we try to keep them shorter... but occasionally we have more to say!
At last, someone who makes life worth living. It's always a Blast with Bob.

Terrif!!! Thx.
could you tell me how do you choose the colors that you work with?
I think a simple answer to that first question would be that white is not a color so next to any color it would become a 0.
I would like a color wheel like you use where can I get one?

Older women need activity, not just sit and look into the wall.

don't think he was out of line at all, some people would rather hear themselves than think on their own. Hes great, I have learned so much from him.
Je n'aime pas, désolée.
Jocelyne Eugene it’s just basic instruction for new painters. Very useful info. Nothing to be desolée about.
