"Best of BobBlast - Beyond Diptychs & Triptychs”
Welcome back to another BobBlast!
One painting is called, well, a painting.
Two paintings together are referred to as a diptych.
Three paintings together are called a triptych.
Interestingly, four or more paintings together are called a... Polyptych.
This "Best of BobBlast" is a series of four demonstrations I thought was worth repeating. Painting in multiples, all with a commonality or storytelling narrative, is another way to loosen up in your studio!
The videos will play one right after another - you don't have to do anything but watch and follow along!
Paint on!
Below is a list of featured workshops - but did you know that I also offer private sessions in my studio? Perfect for beginners who want a crash course in watercolor or acrylic or for artists who are designing a exhibit and want to bounce ideas for content and techniques. I devote 100% of my studio time to you! Designed for 1 to 3 people - if you are interested or have questions, email kate@robertburridge.com
Omg I love watching you just whacking away at those pieces, a brush in each hand. Just being so free! It’s wonderful
Thanks! Now you!
I love watching & getting ideas from all your great videos! Thank you so much Bob!! Your Awesome!
Thank you Karen!
Just love to watch u teach us.It's such a pleasure to watch u.Could watch u for hours and hours.Ur talent is beyond words.
I am in awe of this series and the final painting. ❤
This is brilliant. You are so talented Mr. Burridge. Thank you so much for your infinite teachings and inspiration. You make painting fun and approachable, not taking things to seriously. Bravo
Thank you so much for sharing your art technics & process. It’s a pure joy to see your love for your craft.
Bob, you are so kind to make these videos. Many artists seem to disappear from video making unless for cash. You will be remembered many years hence as an artist who gave to his art. Bravo! also, I am enjoying to see how you think.
I'm so glad I can appreciate how good Bob is, as a teacher and especially as an artist.
you are so adorable, Bob. Your enthusiasm is contagious... thank you for letting me get inspired by you every morning.
What a cheerful artist, you always make me happy, just watching and listening to you. Thank you for being a good man. 💋
I love Bob's work
Really enjoyed these longer videos. Mind you, I could happily spend hours watching Bob.
i really enjoy the longer videos, Bob.
Loved every minute of it
Thank you
I love your inspirational ideas
Amazing!!! Amazing!!! Very Inspirational!!! Thank you Bob.
I just feel so happy when I watch you. You are fresh air with pure oxygen
I do also.
You were brave to reveal your thinking and took a chance.. It turned out quite well, and I got a lot of ideas for my next abstract. thanks
So beautiful
I truley love this man!
A true teacher.
Love how you're fearless, inventive and a joy to watch!
whenever i need inspiration i just turn on Bob Blasts and watch him paint masterpieces in a few strokes.....
Thankyou for letting me in on the many layers you used and what each layer added to the piece. Just when I thought you were done, you had one or two layers left. I had always hesitated to add so much more on my own, but having watched your process I cant wait to get out there and paint!
You’re really wonderful to watch thanks your energy is inspiring
Thank you!
Bob, you are amazing.
Thank you Diane!
I’m so blessed I found you. I’ve learned more in a week than I’ve learned in a life time. When I paint I have ‘the judge ‘ come down and explain how disproportional or ‘ i need to work on making my paintings more realistic. The more common remark is „that looks like s__. Are you serious? ‘’. I’ve hidden my art for so many years I’m still not able to show my creative love. I need art like I need air. Your brilliant „ showing people that there isn’t a crucial mistake. You teach so well about color and composition. I have a rejuvenated bravery for painting what I love. Thank you. You are a ray of sunshine for me. Thank you again!
Thank you Lynskey. Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
Oh bob, I binged watched you last night- love them and the stuff I painted was awesome! Thanks!
When we all pull together, together, together...when we all pull together how happy we’ll be. Really enjoyed how you pulled these paintings together!!
J'adore vous regarder et voir comment un peintre authentique pense et travaille face à des toiles qu'il jugerait peut être ratées car ça augmente la confiance en nous lorsqu'elle celle ci venait à dégringoler !
Thank you for your comments!
This is fantastic! Love, love, love your creative mind!
I love the polyptics idea - and it was fun to see your process and how you played with connecting, hiding, pulling things together and in a way making your polyptics into a very Contemporary yet eternal narrativ of beauty, relations and mystery of life
Love your inspiring way of working Bob. Would love to go on one of your European painting cruises when the world gets right again. Your work has been so lovely to watch during this uneasy time. I have some paints and I am starting today. Hugs
Great watching you paint. I kept thinking . STOP BOB, IT LOOKS GREAT !!! Then you kept painting and I thought, Bob is right, it isn't finished yet,,,,,lol.
Your great Bob!
A mad scientist!
Man, this is super nice! Love how the canvas is connected, yet could stand separate as well. Beautiful colors, abstract. Just a great piece.
''Wow Sir even your sketches are Masterpieces! I love the way you create and Think, Your concepts are off the hook! and then you tie every thing together with Collage and make it even more powerful 🎇 its like a perfectly wrapped present with a bow on top! your a true Gift 🎁 to the Art World!! Mr. Robert Burridge!! Thank You for Sharing all this wonderful Knowledge..
I agree, A GOD GIFT TO THE ART WORLD, well, in my view. CJ x

This is a new experience my first demo. I have liked it. I hope I will keep it up and learn more from you or even meet you in future. I am impressed, Thanks.
Gorgeous!
Thank you!
Thanks Mr. Burridge!
This is great to see the whole series together, thank you! I need to do a painting for a large horizontal space and this concept of a polyptic is very helpful. Thanks for your generosity.
Diane Bassett yesss! I wish they would do more video like this where we can see the many different parts of how he creates & pulls them together. Omg what a beautiful mind he has. It’s great how when he’s painting on that gel medium he actually starts jumping in sync with the brush - he is truly all in. We can all learn from him how to let go and just go with it. And who cares if it isn’t perfect!! We can come back and do something else to it. I was watching his coffee cups paintings today. A rather large one on the wall I thought looked amazing but Bob says he had done it a long time ago. He decided it wasn’t done. Oh nooo.. it looked great! He started slopping paint here and there.. I was sure he was going to ruin it because it was something for me I would consider so nice & keep as a masterpiece. He says it has no ‘JENAYSAYQUAH’ 😆 Bob is Bob. He throws the paint on like a crazy man and next thing ya know it’s like Wowee 🤩 he was right! He took a great painting and made it look like something new & unbelievable! Hahahahaha.. He moves & creates like a 20 year old! Anyways I was mostly commenting on your post because he seems to do the same thing for you that he does for me - and getting the creative juices flowing as we all practice social distancing together, apart, is a good thing. So maybe this will ring your notifications bell and bring you back to some of Bobs Blasts - which are sooo cool right about now. Happy painting!!! 🎨🤗✌️✌️✌️
Thought you lost it with the black paint on the first one! Love the finished product! 😁
Really enjoyed watching the whole process and hearing your thoughts as you paint. I had asked for this a few videos ago and so happy to see you doing this, as well as taking the paintings to a conclusion. What a great video! I doubt most people realize what you did here but it is surely a masterclass all on its own. I only wish I had a studio where I could paint and drip all over the place! LOL💕
👌
what percentage of your work gets sold ? Can you talk about that aspect -- tips & platforms that you like??
Bonjour de France Bob love your vidéos thank you🌻 one question if I may🌼 can I use white medium instead of gel médium
Do you ever go over areas with sandpaper to create a texture?
So crazy😂😂😂
Bob, why is your color wheel showing blue green as the complement of red? Isn’t it traditionally just green?
Super! Can we use modge podge type stuff instead of acrylic gel please?
Yes!
@@RobertBurridgeBobBlast Thank you.
Bob, when hang polydyptic together, do you attach to each other?
Hi Judy - I attach them temporarily - I use tape.
Yo what is your Instagram? These are great by the way love how they are turning out!!!
Bob, what kind of paper do you print your collage prints on?
Mary Myers he says it’s just plain copy paper. 👏👏✌️✌️✌️
Mary Myers really cool how he copied the carrot figures onto copy paper too. I made some pages of them and they are sooo easy to do. They all look different and that little slash of shady really does ground each one. Happy painting! It is a wonderful thing to do while we’re all practicing social distancing- we can all be artsy together apart 💯🎨🤗
And I mostly commented to bring you back to him and his Bobs blasts blasts, in case you had gone away .. he is just the right kind of contagious and YouTubing to get happy right about now! 😷🤗🤗👌
@@debrajol3585 I never miss them! 😁
Is Mrigold Holbein acrylics?
Hi Suzanne, Yes - Marigold is a Holbein Acrylic. It is a transparent yellow-orange.
Really interesting but it seems there is far too much water added which breaks down the integrity of the acrylic binding qualities. The paintings will have no longevity?
Only acrylics with low longivity i tried were matt acrylics with chalk. It crackled in dry air over a time. Compared with oils acrylics longivity is like a miracle!
This is for kids yeah ?
Sorry but I don't get it.. that was a mess
It takes me several "passes" of working before I get to the point where I can say it is finished. This polyptych is definitely in process. The lesson of this BobBlast was to keep all the polyptych panels unified by elements of color, linework, pattern, etc. Thanks for writing.
