    Practicing Effective Color Combinations
    Welcome back to another BobBlast!
Practice makes perfect… or something like that! I just like being in the studio!
This BobBlast is all about the starting points of a painting - one of my 4 Cs that i determine before starting to paint:
    What is the Concept?
    What is the Composition?
    What is the Color Combination?
and Staying Committed to all of the above!
To figure out your Color Combination, use a Color Wheel - It’s one of your tools in your toolbox. All of the pleasing combinations have been worked out for us! On the Standard Color Wheel, if you are just getting started, practice painting with a triadic color combination, like Red, Yellow and Blue.
Besides the Classic, or Standard Color Wheel, I use my own Goof-Proof Color Wheel - using only 4 colors… in today’s demo, you will see me practice with Holbein Acrylic Inks and white titanium.
For this Demo, here is my Color Combination:
    Dominant Color is Blue
Focal Point Color is Red Yellow
    Spice Color is Purple
    Spice Color is Green
The dominant color blue has already been spread on the surface. The background is a loose abstract. My concept is to paint a vertical figure on top of the abstract.
So my concept is a Figure in an Abstract.
    My composition is Vertical
My color combination is Blue Dominant.
After the dominant color is on the surface of the painting, I add the focal point color - as a loose figure. The spice colors are always placed near the focal point. Then I re-establish the dominant color for more contrast.
This loose painting warmup exercise gets me going early in the studio and in workshops.
    Keep your brushes wet!

I love your energy, Bob! Thank you for this great demo! Color is SO important...I feel like a painting can be simple, and if you get colors correct, it looks fabulous! The area where I struggle most is working with VALUES.

The CYM color wheel allows all colors to be rendered, your % ratios work very well and I will add them to my color wheel. Thank you very much.

Bob I got a question: Do you sell your different kind of color wheels. I find them very useful and well made. This is the first time for me to watch your practical video and I'll keep doing it. Thank you in advance.

How did you figure out that 4 color theory and how to use them. Where did you research this combo? How did you come up with the guide? Are there other color theories out there besides Monsel theory of color that also works? Did you invent the four color theory or is it that it works for you?
