Dude you are a legend. Watching the video I was like "who is this dude, the wizened old wizard who appears in your time of need only to vanish again right after". Mad respect.
Imagine being the guy that discovered the debris trick and having it called useless… until years later when it’s found to be the ultimate solution to the speedrun
To be fair, it was ultimately useless until the meta had completely shifted for the stage. It was a maxed out run where the time would not get any lower, which when the debris trick was talked about initially, it was not.
when I first played portal 2, I was very stupid on this level, instead of using the faith plate I tried building momentum by going out of the diagonal platforms and placing portals below me when I nearly hit the ground, somehow I overlooked the go-high-quick plates and thought of an infinitely harder solution 💀
I always enjoyed this chamber & the amount of route possibilities. I didn't even know the stairs were timed to rise at 35 seconds back in the day because it wasn't relevant until after ceiling skip was done. Great video!
I love that speed runners are all competing for that one elusive world record spot, but will then still share their strategies and routes with each other in the hope that said record will eventually be shattered, even if someone else is the one to do it. It feels like a community effort to lower the time as low as it can go, rather than a competition between the runners to set the best time.
I agree. That was one of the things that surprised me the most about the speedrunning community. Sadly, though, I feel like if money were involved somehow, all that goodwill and cooperation would go out the window.
@@staticradio724 I don't think money would change that, it's similar to a patent system, to certify that you are the fastest you need to show the run, thus revealing your secret but granting you a spot in the hall of fame but allowing anyone to try and beat your time. To certify you are the inventor you need to share the blueprint/recipe/process, revealing your secret but granting you a 20 years period where you can be the only manufacturer of or sell the right to reproduce your invention but it's fair game afterwards.
Holy shit I had no idea this chamber developed to such an insane extent. The 1000 hours I spent running this game back in 2012 feels so insignificant lol. Does Zypeh still play, is he still the movement GOAT or has the next generation of runners surpassed him? Also thank you Msushi for these beautiful videos. I get so nostalgic watching them.
