He and Pzula were the GOATS for sure. Shiroma because he had it rougher than the other guys and had such a good time without clipping all other glitches the other guys used. Pzula found so many strats and improved the time quite a bit. Other guys used there tactics, practiced and found some minor things to improve there time. They all deserve credit but personally this 2 had the most impact.
I remember playing this game on flash. Then, I kept looking at others play them and I was amazed. Throughout the 2010s, I observed everyones speedruns. It is honestly so impressive seeing them conquer this.
Still blown away by this speedrunning history. Everybody putting hours and hours perfecting every little detail, saving miniscule things like the level 1 frame skip. Meanwhile there's me, still not being able to win the game once.
For an hour, I got emotional by the achievements of people I didn't know existed about something I'd never think I would care about. This video is a masterpiece of narration.
I don't think I've been more emotionally invested in someone's success than each time you showed all the cool stuff that someone had done, then said "all he has to do is...". This is a masterfully researched, narrated, and edited essay.
19:52 I happen to be "Chief Dim Sum" 😄 Used to play this after school all the time, and when I submitted my entry it was actually 4th place at the time, now that more experienced gamers have made their way over it's like 60th or something 😁 It's odd to think that I was speedrunning this game before it became a popular thing to do. Honoured to be a minor feature on this section of the video 👍🏼
All of the world record holders introduced something new to the game. They're all incredible in their own rights, but I would LOVE to have seen what the early record holders could have done with the level selector when they were still actively speedrunning the game.
great video! and Wow -- i was not expecting to hear some of my own music in it, hah! glad you liked pacesetter's lobby theme and hope you're hyped for 1.3!! 🎉🎉
And it's not going like "as expected", but actually going insane with every chapter and each chapter was unique as a whole and feels like a finished piece of art, but then the picture gets wider and wider, making an old scratch of a game to a complete masterpiece of the storytelling, once again proved that reality is the best storyteller. It's not just the game in the first place, but the history of beating it. Isn't it the real definition of any masterpiece? Being once again perfected to a whole 'nother level each time record is beaten is such a great thing to see and hear nowadays. Did you enjoys as much as i did? It's like a neverending story of becoming better and better, which could be a core plot similar to gaining power in munchkin, influence in romance taking place in kingdoms and even managing to survive some deadly hopeless environments. It requires mc to do something incredible, which are core plot for any incredible story after all

Still crazy that nobody has beaten World’s Hardest Game 2 in 0 deaths, let alone less than 10. That game is an actual contender for the world’s hardest game, some of the levels are insane Edit: Well, now we wait for Danicker to beat WHG3 deathless, lol.

I'm very surprised but then happy to see that every wonderful runner who was mentioned in this video are thanking you or your great job in the comments ! Very happy to see that stuff people like you take time to make these video. I hop people will remember this game and, btw, awesome video !!
The amount of research and preparation to narrate this smoothly is incredible. And the editing is also great. This is among the smoothest, natural feeling documentary youtube videos Ive seen. Amazing job
Although I'm not a speedrunner, this video was higher entertaining to watch as I still check out stuff in the speedrun community. The editing and storytelling is perfectly paced, and this video is a Mastercraft. Thanks for introducing me to such a nice game and history.
It's amazing how people went from barely beating it to barely being able to optimize something any further. Truly astonishing what people can achieve, when they are passionate about something
I remember being 14-15 in my coding class in high school and my buddy tell me to check out this game. It was crazy hard, and I never completed it. Good times
wasn't even aware this game existed an hour ago after watching a red cube glide around for over 50 mins I can safely say this is one of the most commendable and dedicated speedrun communities to observe. Who knew you could make a gripping documentary on a barebones flash game barely older than myself, you (and of course the runners who set the bar) really have a skill for content creation.
If anything, this just highlight even more of what an accomplishment Shiroma time was. If he had access to all of these things that the modern speed runners have, just imagine all the things he could have discovered and optimized.
5:20 wow this is insane. So, i know this is random, but thank you for including this image. I've been looking for the game titled "choose your weapon" for so long because I remember playing it when i was young and i remember a vivid image of the game however I did not know what it was called or where to really begin when searching for it. So... thank you.
Maximum, your videos are amazing, you are the one who made me start playing red ball and fancy pants. Also, I'm probably entering the rb speedrunning discord and I'll start my speedruning! Thanks for making my days better, keep up the great content
I was initially just going to put this on as background while playing a game and checking the video out here or there. The way this was presented, and how well the research and pacing of the documentary was, actually made me drop everything else I was doing and sit here watching the whole thing. Didn't even realize how long the video was until it was over. Amazing work! It's crazy how much this game had going on. I remember playing it (probably on Newgrounds) and could never even get close to beating the game. I didn't even know there were leaderboards! Brought back a lot of forgotten nostalgia. Thank you for this awesome piece of art!
God videos like this give me life. Nothing I love more than some random guy giving the history of speedrunning a game I haven’t heard of in years for over an hour. Makes me feel so fucking alive. I have literally no interest in speedrunning outside these videos but they’re so important to me
What a nostalgia trip. TWHG speedruns were indeed an inspiration, and I remember spending a lot of time running the Shift series after watching them. Thanks for making this beautiful documentary on the history of the records with so much detail, it's always fascinating to watch videos like these as an outsider of the community.
God the quality of your videos is so high! I’m so impressed that you do such high-effort, longform content like this. Im always so excited to see one of your videos cause I know you’re gonna give the topic the time it deserves, and stay interesting the whole time!
Update, Aaron's run was beaten by hsblue again last year and just 9 months ago, a player called raflikk beat the game in 5 minutes and 9 seconds, earning him the latest WR. Aaron's 5:14 sits at #6.
@@pikapikachu4665 And btw, I don't see it as "complaining". I did not suggest that they must spend all this time on real-world problems, but more like "I implore you to think what could be achieved IF they spend all this time on real-world problems". I'm sorry if you can't find the distinction.
Few things: 1. I never thought I’d watch a video on the worlds hardest game considering how fed up with it I was in school (coolmath), but this was truly amazing. 2. It’s so funny you explaining how clipping essentially works in this game since I’d do it so often accidentally and just think I was the luckiest person ever for it not registering lmao. I learned so many neat things and I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t make me wanna turn my pc on and attempt a speedrun or record, but I don’t have that kinda dedication 🤣😭 I’ll keep an eye out for your content though, this video was really cool!
Just found your channel, one thing I really liked your speed running video that sets it apart from others like summoning salt is the running counter of all the top runners as a background. Shows how close everyone is together and new people joining the scene. As a lover of speedrunning docs, this one is excellent and i'm def subbing for more!
I love speedrun history videos due to the fact most of them have encouraging stories of each top player and their runs and how the community pushes each other to break and move the record lower and lower
Wow! So cool too see Snubby, hsbule, Shiroma and Pzula all in one comment section. Makes me wonder what Hachimen and HatredCopter are doing today... I have been playing that game since 2012 and I still never completed it. The fact that Aaron was able to bit it in 5:14 amazes me. :P
i remember playing this game in college.. i cannot recall if i managed with 0 deaths in the end, but i completed it with 2-3 deaths A LOT of times. Great fun, so thank you for a beautiful game :)
I have tears after watching this. Truly incredible passion and dedication by speedrunners. Great info gathering+writing+editing by author. Thank you for this.
Amazing documentary. Pacing, editing, narration all top notch. I also love the fact that many of the mentioned record holders you mentioned can be seen in the comment section. All of them have had their fair share in speedrunning the game but I must say I'm most impressed by Shiroma, especially due to the fact that he got his records without level selection.
I just want to say man, your editing is so on point, so key on that it is an incredible pleasure to watch this video. I stumbled upon this channel from speed running and you have gained a new sub if this is the quality you put out. I know how much time this all takes so I want it to be known that it is appreciated by at least me and I am sure many, many other people here. Great job my friend, incredible homage to speed running and the small niche things that we all deal with when it comes to our passion, either it be this game or many others. I’m impressed really, but what shocked me most is how you managed to keep me exited for 54 minutes in a topic that doesn’t have much to be talked about and is new to me! You are a natural presenter
I'm not even into watching speedrunning videos and I've never even heard of this game, but still I found myself watching through the whole 54 minutes of this video. Captivating. Very well put together and everything was explained so even someone like me (I'm not even a gamer to be honest) could understand and enjoy it. Great work! It's mindblowing how much patience these speedrunners must have. Thank you RUclips for suggesting this, to me, seemingly random video.
Amazing video my friend, you captivated my attention despite the fact I haven't even played this game more than a few times in my life, I always hated this game for how popular it was on games sites :D mainly because it was like the title says, a very hard game, but I can see now that despite the game lacking "fun" elements or good graphics and so on, there is still a lot of meaning to be gain from playing it and beating it, the accomplishment of conquering something difficult is everything! Keep up the great work!
Only watching the first halve of the video you can see how much time and effort there was into the making of it. Just impresive. I love your videos Maximum, also your scripting skills are above a loooot of other youtubers. I hope you reach a higher sub count more in line with what you should have!
Every time I watch this video it amazes me even more. Like most people, I played the game for about a week and never got past level 10. Props to both you and all the speedrunners that made this possible

Thanks
Shiroma is still the most impressive. Playing through all the levels all over again. I would die.
Wasn't Hachiman the OG speedrunner?
@@nicodiangelo2040 HatredCopter technically was the first person to record attempts
but u get repawn with death counter
And the fact that he stayed on top for seven years. You seldom ever see any such accomplishments in speedrunning.
I remember playing this game on flash. Then, I kept looking at others play them and I was amazed. Throughout the 2010s, I observed everyones speedruns. It is honestly so impressive seeing them conquer this.
You know you're in for a mind blowing time when you're 1/3 into the video and "it can't possibly be beaten"
Still blown away by this speedrunning history. Everybody putting hours and hours perfecting every little detail, saving miniscule things like the level 1 frame skip. Meanwhile there's me, still not being able to win the game once.
I cant even beat level 1
same i can't beat the game and only made it to level 2

GG!
Your storytelling skills are improving every video mate, I'm loving it
You sound real gay right now, man. Gotta stop that.
Being someone who just beat the World's Hardest Game 2, this is nothing short of incredible.
My mind is blown.
Thanks for making such a banger track🔥Can't wait to hear more in 1.3!
I love how everytime it's like "This run is the perfect one, they can't do better than that. But they did better."
It requires mc to do something incredible, which are core plot for any incredible story after all
I'm not convinced that my english is good enough, that you don't need to call for a doctor in order to heal your eyes from my bull s*#t, but thanks anyway for your attention, like, i think i'm bad at english
@@bettergang2004 There isn't really much wrong with your english, but the comment could really use some formating.

I'm pretty sure that's just every speedrun progression video, or summoning salt is just really good at implementing that mechanic to where I think it's the standard
thanks for the shoutout, October 18th 2008 day i was born they mustve known they had to do something big for my bday
Still crazy that nobody has beaten World’s Hardest Game 2 in 0 deaths, let alone less than 10. That game is an actual contender for the world’s hardest game, some of the levels are insane
Edit: Well, now we wait for Danicker to beat WHG3 deathless, lol.
This game makes Superman 64 feel like playing madden on rookie difficulty
The current wr of WHG2 has only 1 death, maximum put a $500 bounty for the first person to beat WHG2 deathless while beating the 11:57 by danicker
guess what ;) danicker finally did it

I'm very surprised but then happy to see that every wonderful runner who was mentioned in this video are thanking you or your great job in the comments ! Very happy to see that stuff people like you take time to make these video.
I hop people will remember this game and, btw, awesome video !!
Oooo... I remember World's Hardest Game. It was really tough. Big respect to the speedrunners, I would never think of even beating the game.
"He was able to cut his amount of deaths in half from 15 to 12"
Seems legit
Yeah its obviously cut in half: one half is 3 and the other half is 12.
logic
Hatred copter got 24 deaths, which he cut in half to get 12.
The amount of research and preparation to narrate this smoothly is incredible. And the editing is also great. This is among the smoothest, natural feeling documentary youtube videos Ive seen. Amazing job
Absolutely incredible video documenting one of my favorite flash games from childhood. Well done =) I really enjoyed it.
Thanks Kroma! 😄
This game was a large part of my childhood and it’s honestly amazing to see how far people have come with it.
I remember about a decade ago I was able to finish the game with only 10 deaths and I felt so much accomplishment for it. The music is nostalgic af
Thanks for providing the music and timestamps. Nice music.
It was so cool to hear and recognize Corporate Clash music! Love to see support for that amazing game! Can’t wait for the 1.3 update any day now!
I'm super pumped as well! Hoping to max my toon before the update (currently at 133 laff)
I remember being 14-15 in my coding class in high school and my buddy tell me to check out this game. It was crazy hard, and I never completed it. Good times
wasn't even aware this game existed an hour ago
after watching a red cube glide around for over 50 mins I can safely say this is one of the most commendable and dedicated speedrun communities to observe.
Who knew you could make a gripping documentary on a barebones flash game barely older than myself, you (and of course the runners who set the bar) really have a skill for content creation.
What a high quality video documentary, your channel is criminally underrated.
It's great seeing how some flash speedrunners run games for nostalgia, and some run it just because it's the only games their system can handle
man worked 4 years to hold the record in a flash game. That is some serious dedication
But misplaced. Imagine dedication at this level to solve real-world problems. 😔
@@zypA13510alright maybe instead of complaining about speed runners on social media and go cure cancer or something
@@pikapikachu4665 How do you know that I'm not? And what is it that YOU have done to contribute?
I learned so many neat things and I’d be lying if I said it doesn’t make me wanna turn my pc on and attempt a speedrun or record, but I don’t have that kinda dedication 🤣😭
I’ll keep an eye out for your content though, this video was really cool!
we've finally moved on from red ball to red square, well done!

we finally moved from red square to red triangle virus
wall clips depending on window size is the most flash thing ever
When Shiroma completes a level it feels like the smack-text is him talking to the game.
All of them have had their fair share in speedrunning the game but I must say I'm most impressed by Shiroma, especially due to the fact that
he got his records without level selection.
7:50 Using this OST is among the best advertisements you could've made for Toontown: Corporate Clash lol, this is a jam
I look forward to more of your videos, keep up this excellence.
A vid about a game on flash made by a 16 year old has no business in becoming such a monument. But here we are. And it's so inspiring.
Keep the good work, these videos are gold! Bringing back nostalgic flash games from a forgotten era to analyse every single detail about the speedrunners, and with a very good video editting abilities. Just wholesome to watch!
this is one of the best youtube videos so far on the internet man i really loved your video andit was just i just dont have any words for it it was , Perfect
This video brought all these people together. The amazing game dev, the incredible pzula, the legendary shiroma, and even the godly hsblue. Truly an amazing video indeed.
'This mistake probably didn't matter that much'
Now in the industry, that's what we call foreshadowing.
Thank you very much fella. A brilliant video. I was nearly crying at one point. It is amazing what people can do. x
Oh my god that music, a long dead memory has just been resurrected in my mind
Man, this is an amazing video-- and I also have to compliment your music choices. Really was a trip hearing Pokémon XD and Toontown: Corporate Clash music in the background
This guy is underrated, this document was very fun to watch and now I think that this game isn't so annoying after all
Being able to even just make it to double digits in this game made you the coolest person in elementary school. Incredible seeing what other people have been able to do with it.
