  • Being able to slow our breathing down with functional breathing mechanics, a lightness to the breath and a respiratory rate of 5.5 to 6 breaths per minute is essential to promoting overall health, increasing our stress tolerance and how we manage our emotions.
    The ability to lighten and slow our breathing down is an art and a skill. The desire to breath faster is governed by our carbon dioxide tolerance so improving this will help us slow or breathing down but also this as a practise will help improve our carbon dioxide tolerance and thus creating a positive loop.
    It takes time to master so go slow and steady - most important is to not try to hard, ensure its stays relaxed and not stressful by trying to hard and keep the breathing even and rhythmical.

    I knew it intuitionally that breathing too much air is bad but slow breathing is good. Many teachers say to take a deep breath then thay breath fully to belly and lungs but it just causes confusion to brain and anxiey(of course breath holds are beneficial practice). You teaching is right to the point. thanks

    I had a question Jacko, in daily life, i had a tendency to holding my breath and kind of "locking" the breath until my awareness aware of this, and i let it flow again, and through this habit, i found myself often in an anxiety and fight fisht state.. any advice how to change the habit of breathing Jacko? Thanks!

      Hey, thanks for the feedback and glad you liked the video. Yes the breathing light can certainly be done during light exercise as well as to help down-regulate after exercise. It can generate air hunger strongly so start easy with just walking before progressing to things like jogging or other bodyweight movements. The breath-holds can be done as well but just at a different time... not mixing them together. Hope that helps? Have you checked out my Pro Breathwork App which has a free foundations course which helps explain fully and guide you through the exercises? probreathwork.passion.io/

    How many seconds it must take for inhale and how many seconds it must take to exhale?

    • @Jacko-Breathwork
      @Jacko-Breathwork  Год назад +2

      GREAT QUESTION - It can vary from person to person for what feel comfortable. There is some good science suggesting 5 in and 5 out or 4 in 6 out are good cadences for HRV... but the time doesn't take into account the size of breath so do be aware of that. Hope it helps... any other questions just ask. Jacko

    • @aymalkhan5781
      @aymalkhan5781 Год назад

      @@Jacko-Breathwork thanks a lot but according Patrick McKeown while doing slow and light breathing, for that your breath must be very slow and light and small.. If small breaths are required then why must we inhale and exhale for 5 5 or 6 6 secs?

    • @Jacko-Breathwork
      @Jacko-Breathwork  Год назад +1

      hey, yes I was trained by Patrick himself and i continue to work with him as a master instructor so I'm not trying to say anything different than he would. You asked about how long inhales and exhales should be and 5/5 or 4/6 have both been shown in the research to be a beneficial speed. The speed however doesn't take into account the size of breath / volume of air we are breathing. So with breathing light to reference to smaller breaths is to the volume of air we are taking. As we relax and slow are breathing it reduces naturally and then the art of breathing light is with that slower breath being able to gradually decrease the size of the breath too. Hope that makes sense? I think you'd love my short course 'Mastering Breathing Light' here - www.probreathwork.com/course/mastering-breathing-light
