There's no special technology within these headphones. The Tempest 3D technology is all in the PlayStation. Think of it as akin to Dolby Atmos on the Xbox. I actually own the Astro A50s (which are Dolby Digital surround headphones). But when operating in Dolby Atmos they want you to disable the surround sound on the A50s and essentially make them just plain stereo. All the processing is being done on the Xbox. All that to say, my suspicion is it's exactly the same with the PS5. It's a 3D audio technology (like Atmos) that works with just a stereo headset. My opinion. Very few articles out there covering this topic. Everyone thinks this is like the only headset that works - it's just the one Sony is marketing.
@@angelmoonrocks4879 Hey Angel. The PlayStation manages the technology of 3D audio. The only factor after that is connectivity. PS5 will allow you to connect headsets one of two ways - USB directly to the PS5 or 3.5mm cable connected to the DualSense controller. If your HyperX fits one of those two types of connections you should be golden. For the 3.5mm connection I would guess that any headphones will work. I can’t speak to the USB connection if there won’t need to be some sort of driver on the PlayStation or firmware update on the headset for these to work. Too early to tell. In the end though, we won’t need a special headset for 3D audio. The illusion of 3D has been working on stereo headphones for nearly 30 years.
Your hd850's will sound way better than any gaming headset (except maybe the audeze's). The pulse headset is 'tuned' for the 3d which probably means increased bass and highs. If you're looking for a good audiophile gaming experience stick with what you got and get a clip on mic.
I hope he does a head to head because BadBit is very good at explaining things in detail. Kept the Arctis 7p. The overall sound quality is just better with the 7p. Not surprising for 50% more cost. But BadBit nailed it in saying the Sony Pulse 3D headset is crispy. Having pinpoint sound directionality is easily the greatest strength of the Pulse. But at what cost? The mids... they're okay. The bass...not there. The 7p aren't perfect but they are more balanced. They have good directionality (not as good as the Pulse). But they are hella more comfortable. Definitely feels more premium than the Pulse. I honestly want to try the Arctis 9 but I can't find them anywhere. Maybe the 9x would work? Not sure. I also own the Astro A50s but didn't want to deal with the whole HDMI dongle thing - otherwise they would probably still be my top pick.
