I was using my Elites (just got them yesterday 2/22/24) at my daughters dance class, called my wife during the class with their music/dance routine going on in the background, and my wife didn’t hear a thing on her end of the call. I’m also accustomed to a lot of bass, and that’s where I was initially disappointed with these Elite’s. I love bass, but after playing Metallica, Sabaton, MxPx and others, I was hearing things that the extra bass was actually drowning out in my other headsets like my Kaira Pro, TB Elite 800’s and TB Stealth 700 Gen 2’s. This headset is not as base heavy as those others, but what lacks on that front it more than makes up for in picking up those mods and highs that others lack. I’m glad I picked these up, and will probably be retiring my others.
That's good to know, I dont like bass heavy headphones for metal. I listen to a lot of black metal and I find that really needs crisp mids and highs to sound as intended. Sometimes metal can sound like white noise with too much bass or on bad quality phones that blur the ranges.
Can you push the mute button on the controller and it actually mute your mic now? Or is it like the first gen to where you can only hold down mute to mute all audio?
if you buy these, make sure to get them covered for a full year, i have seen many people say there is durabilty problems, as well as connection problems, wierd i have seen so many reivews of it and not one mentions that
The elite has side tone options, you just have to go into audio settings on the PS5 and enable it. I've been loving the elite. Also, you can use the mute button on the controller to mute the mics headset.
If you have a DualSense Edge, you can also use the Fn button to change the volume and chat/game balance. Your hands never need to leave the controller!
Oh thanks! That’s amazing that you can finally use the Mute on the controller cause I always never found the mute button on the original Pulse Elite to be “unreliable” as it just would NOT mute sometimes when I clicked it so I would have to repeat trying to mute it.
@BertoJA876 cheers, while someone responded I watched a video and yeah, it's located at the headphones settings but not at the quick menu. What would be the reason Sony got rid of both the chat mix and sidetone buttons? Wait ✋️, they are trying to reduce costs and earn more and more money.
Have both and easy decision. Only down side the part that sticks out on the elite does make it harder to lean back on a pillow. Otherwise sound quality is much better for gaming
I agree with you except the firmware with the Elite has issues and has major connection problems, I already had the Pulse headset and decided to upgrade but found the sound on my first Elite headset kept cutting in and out, returned for a replacement but the 2nd pair kept disconnecting from my PS5, went back to my 3D Pulse....
I chose the Pulse 3d as there have been lots of reports of the Elites loosing connection. Happy with my purchase. Hopefully a software update may fix the Elites if this is the case. Great video man❤
The headsets are very good for sound quality. Only one problem I have with these headsets I have them I’m gonna return them you’re not able to lower your teammate volume down in the game and that’s a big problem you can do it in party chat only these headsets are very good for Fp s games
Unfortunately without having the Chat/Audio mix volume controls built in on the headset you can't change the levels on the fly when playing with randoms. So for example, if I'm in a match on Helldivers 2 (so not in a party with friends) the only way to adjust volume levels is by going into the audio options in that specific game. This is a massive drawback for me as every player you meet has different mic levels and it's handy having that quick easy option to alter. I took my Pulse Elite back and stuck with my Pulse 3Ds. Yes the Sound quality's is better but without this function it's so annoying.
Great review thanks. Currently got pulse 3d, would get an elite but the lack of bass seems kinda off-putting to me. Some of the games I play have bass heavy moments. Update: Ended up going for Audeze Maxwell and increased lower frequencies with eq settings. Really happy with them
I've the Sony Pulse Elite since yesterday. I noticed two things: 1. When you have the headset on and move your head, the speakers rattle. Is this normal or perhaps transport damage? 2. the bass is much more present on the Sony Pulse 3D. Overall, I'm disappointed with the sound of the Pulse Elite. It has great highs but sounds flat overall and hardly offers any immersion. Maybe I'm picky, but a rich and full sound is important to me. Maybe I chose the wrong device. I am very grateful for recommendations (TB Stealth?) Also for feedback as to whether the rattling when moving the head is normal. thank you very much

Elite basically don't work. Either mic is going down. Either connection to playstation is lost (no audio). Either do not connect at all to the console (unplug and plug usb is required). Crap.
Late to the party but that mic test was insane. I just picked up my pulse elite and man it sounds good, feels good, all good. $150 is honestly a steal for how good the mic is and the sound quality. Sounds just as good as my $300 Sennheiser headset.
I’m blown away by all the comments. Let’s be real, the new headset is terrible. Terrible sound, the pulse 3d has more bottom end than this pulse elite. Sony really tricked people. Buy audeze, release a colab headset and everyone will buy it. But nobody is honest enough to say the sound is terrible. It’s shrill, pitchy, and even after eq in ps5, you cannot bring out the lows and there’s virtually no bass.

Those ear cups moving around is especially bothersome when you’re walking around with the elites on your head by the way. It’s been a bit annoying for me always hearing clunk clunk as I walk around

Hi @technie, I don’t know how can you say these are good . I have bought them with high expectations and I am really disappointed . Sound is very sharp and to bright , it is very difficult to get any bass out of them .
very true the bass isn't there and can really be made, planar magnetic drivers at their best. Now as you probably have noticed I prefer my headsets to be a bit more in the treble/highs department, this is a reason I love planar drivers, very crisp details. I just need a mild back end bass, nothing really deep
What would you recommend for ps5 with a little bit more of bass ? For my pc I use epos h6pro with gx300 . This set up is best I ever had , ever a50x don’t sound better .BTW love your work , really enjoy your videos , I’ve been watching you for years !
I tried the Elite and I did not like how it sounded. I prefer the sound of the pulse 3D even though the elite was obviously better quality. The elite has highs that sound like scratching nails on a chalkboard to me. I have the same problem with steel series. I just prefer a bassier sound I guess. Comfort wise they aren’t that much different.
I bought the pulse elite headset because I wanted to get headphones that'd fit well over the PSVR2, and they absolutely met my expectations. Sure, the audio quality isnt nearly as good as my other headset's (arctis pro wireless), but thats to be expected at this price point. The mic is awesome on the elite's. Personally I like the location of the mute button, but I might be in the minority in that aspect. It's something different, and I do like a bit of change every once in a while. And the multi point connectivity is basically a requirement for me, I've always had headsets that can be connected to my phone and my PS5 (and PS4 when I was still playing on it). But yeah, the main thing that made me buy the headset was that it fits well over the PSVR2. Its great! Now I can get even more immersed into GT7 👍
Oh and also, the equaliser is a nice addition. You can make the headset sound a bit better with it if you know what you're doing. There are a few pre-set equalisers, too.
Man... I would want to love the Elite but my head is too big or something since I am hearing my heartbeat, blood flow and jaw movements. Something that's not a thing with pulse 3d
I have the Pulse 3D and they sound so FLAT!! Such a poor and underwhelming sound reproduction that I stopped using them entirely, after a month (or so) of use. Anyways, you say the Pulse 3D have (some) bass... That made me think I might had missed something. Is there an equalizer app I should be using, in order to get better sound off of them?
Always to the point without all the fluff in the middle. Plus an actual answer at the end without watching all the way to the end to be told ‘it’s up to you’ 😂. So when I buy these for myself and donate my 3Ds to my kids will I have to keep swapping the dongle? Or does the elites serve them both cos that would be an annoyance.
Thank you for your advice 🙌 I have a question; I'm worried regarding Pulse Ellite’s low frequencies as a glasses-wearing guy. Does bass go down, lose low-end with glass 👓?
Like many people I wear glasses and they are fine. They are not bass heavy though offer more than the old 3Ds. They are very well balanced. If you like LOTS of bass find something else. But for most people these are amazing value.
i don't link the elite does not have volumen change for game to voice. I have both, but pulse 3d are my favorite one to plat NBA2k and use the game chat
Hi, can you do a test with a person talking in your background? As when I am in a party chat they can still hear the background chatter. Not sure if it's only mine or if all elite headsets pick up chatting in the background.
My Pulse 3D cup pleather wore out and flaked real bad but I was able to replace the cups with new ones. It’s not looking like this is an option with my Elites, bit concerning
@@oppenheimer11 on the pulse 3Ds? They clip off and you can attach new ones and 3rd party ones. I don’t think I can remove the elite cups if they ware though.

What would you recommend for ps5 with a little bit more of bass ? For my pc I use epos h6pro with gx300 . This set up is best I ever had , ever a50x don’t sound better .BTW love your work , really enjoy your videos , I’ve been watching you for years !
Which one is better for listening 2 music lmao💀
I tried the Elite and I did not like how it sounded. I prefer the sound of the pulse 3D even though the elite was obviously better quality. The elite has highs that sound like scratching nails on a chalkboard to me. I have the same problem with steel series. I just prefer a bassier sound I guess. Comfort wise they aren’t that much different.
True
I agree. I bought the Elite, played for 2 hours, returned it and bought the 3D pulse.
Everybody I know said that this is it does not fit with the VR to
@@chrisb8870 fits well for me at least! far better than my steelseries arctis pro wireless
Yes, you have an eq for the Pulse 3d, go check some videos on youtube. You will love them!
@@Lc_Sebastian Unfortunately, it seems that the EQ is not available for the PS4.
Of course you can just mute the mic on your PS controller as well.
Nice video bud.
Do u know if u can buy replacement dongles 4 the Elite ?
no
To bad it's only in white. Hope they bring out other colors
Good solid video with no BS.
Thank you for your advice 🙌
I have a question; I'm worried regarding Pulse Ellite’s low frequencies as a glasses-wearing guy. Does bass go down, lose low-end with glass 👓?
Like many people I wear glasses and they are fine. They are not bass heavy though offer more than the old 3Ds. They are very well balanced. If you like LOTS of bass find something else. But for most people these are amazing value.
Do the elite separate background game sound and chat? Pulse separate chat and game.
i don't link the elite does not have volumen change for game to voice. I have both, but pulse 3d are my favorite one to plat NBA2k and use the game chat
Are they louder than the 3D pulse?
Xbox player here. Does playstation have noise suppression built into their software for all headsets like they do on xbox?
Great video!
The cups move around for better fit on your head....the old version doesn't move
Hi, can you do a test with a person talking in your background? As when I am in a party chat they can still hear the background chatter. Not sure if it's only mine or if all elite headsets pick up chatting in the background.
I have the Pulse 3d, and honestly I'm not a fan of it.
The headset sounds good, but it's not very comfortable and almost feels too loose.
Bro I mistakenly bought the 3d... man the elites got all the features I want
Thank you so much
My Pulse 3D cup pleather wore out and flaked real bad but I was able to replace the cups with new ones. It’s not looking like this is an option with my Elites, bit concerning
@@oppenheimer11 on the pulse 3Ds? They clip off and you can attach new ones and 3rd party ones. I don’t think I can remove the elite cups if they ware though.
Question for 2 different headsets, hs65 or the arctic nova 1?
Problem is when I play on my PlayStation portal the link between ps5 and headset breaks up if not in same room
