my scale says I'm ~13% bodyfat and before the bulk it said ~8%. My bodyfat distribution is similar to Sam's, love handles, butt and midsection. I'm happy with the progress.

Love watching you sam. Calm and laid back having normal conversations. Love the vibe
doubt this'll get any attention but for the ones who cant put on weight.. All I did was eat until I couldn't anymore and repeat that every 2-3 hrs. Then usually people have one meal at a time right. Well I started having 3 meals at one sitting. (salmon and rice) (fruits blended up w/ protein) and (grits and eggs) literally gained 20lbs since Jan (was 155- now 170)
Nice job .. I gained 80 plus pounds my first year of training and my trainer’s had me eating every 2 hours…I bet you feel way stronger now 👍

Thanks for being such a great guide. Seeing you do 6 sets is helping me get out of my “overworking/ minimal progress rut.” I’m a rookie and have been doing like 25 hard sets for 1.5 - 2 hours in the gym. 5 x 5 different exercises… I’m realizing its just junk volume. Less is more 💪🏽 edit: I also may be eating too much, getting fat and not seeing my gains 😂
Man brother that’s a lot of volume but if you’re able to recover & your making progress that’s all that matters..except for the fact do you enjoy training that way…sometimes people get so caught up with getting results that they forget to point is to have fun in the gym…

As much as this might sound weird, but i've gotten so used to watching Sam every single time he uploads that if he were to ever take a break I'd honestly feel like I was missing someone in my life. So strange how someone on the other side of the camera who has no idea I exist can change my life. I mean honestly he feels like a family member. I'm an extremely overweight guy and Sam you have inspired me to get in shape and to teach myself how to have true discipline I have now been working out 5 times a week for a month now as of today and have already seen a decent amount of weight loss and increases to my mental health and you bring me hope to take back control of my life. The way I do it is I don't choose what days I go but choose a number of days I go 5 days a week as long as I get 5 days in Idc what days those are.

@sunnyxdmc2283how many sets are you doing per workout? If you only switched to twice a week recently you’ll want to start off with lower volume per session, then increase as you adapt
@sunnyxdmc2283 i’d say that sounds like simply doing too much, i’d normally start with 6 or 7 sets and work up. The advantage of training muscles twice a week is that you can get more high quality volume in by doing less each session. Stay at it though, in a few months you’ll be able to recover from tons more volume
Does anyone else appreciate what a good driver Sam is? Everyone in my city drives like they have no will to live, especially near the college campuses.

In one of your videos you mention having pain in your chest. You should go get your pecs stripped and rolfed. It’ll hurt but removing the toxins and lactic acid that are holding whatever pain you have within the muscle. But after about 3-4 weeks you’ll be able to bench 80-90% of your 1RM instead of 60%. Because your stabilizer muscle in your pecs will not be working through toxins to supply the muscle with strength. I did massage for 15 years and 80% of my clients were bodybuilders and I rolfed them 12 weeks in a row prior to cutting. Their definition, symmetry, strength and size was unmatched. Really take care of your stabilizers, if you get an injury it’ll most likely be because you haven’t warmed up and stretched the stabilizers properly. Good luck man, you look superb!

Hey Sam, I am a 16 yr old father of 6 and Ive been watching your videos! I have started in the gym recently and I am benching about 315 and like lateral raising 75s but we all start somewhere. Watching your videos have really motivated me to ego lift and get big. I have been eating 16000 calories a day and about 400g of protein! I am really excited to see progression and hopefully bench 800+ pounds one day like my son. Keep up this work!!

Just started my cut a couple weeks ago also and I have to say I like how Sam stays so positive going into his cut, because in reality its pretty mental and can f*ck with you pretty hard dropping from a serious bulk(calorie surplus) into a cut(calorie defecit). You immediatelly lose almost 10 lbs just from the drop in carbs and all of the sudden you feel like you can't even get a good pump going at the gym. Muscles depleted of glycogen and now not holding as much water. When I hear Sam trying to point out the pros of being on his cut and being so positive, I know alot of it he is talking to himself just as much as he is talking to all of us. Sam is his own motivation, he motivates himself, so much so that it motivates everybody watching his vids. The take away here is be your own Hero, be self motivated in life and you'll succeed at most everything you do.

6 sets, lets gooooooooooooooooo Mike Mentzer style. Thats basically what I do following Mike's advice. Why waste all the sets on the same exercise because once you hit failure on your 1st working set, your next set is ALWAYS going to be lighter weight needed to hit same amount of reps! So take that remaining energy and move on, switch it up to another deviation of a chest exercise to take that to failure, including dips, fly's, incline or overhead press machines...etc. but for your last rep of each set, where applicable, maybe try holding the negative to failure too man instead of doing those lil partial pumps, idk switch it up, get that final rep completed and hold it to eccentric failure as well @10:43 Good work Sam. There is also another advanced method Mike Mentzer created called "rest pause" which is used if you've progressed so far, that the weight tires out your muscles. You do basically 4-6 drop sets in a row, with 10 - 15 second rest inbetween. 1 rep max weight per set.
He literally does rest pauses already, I highly doubt you can teach Sam anything lol

@@ChrisATW you don’t fully understand rest pause then. It’s only 1 rep basically close to your 1 rep max weight, done once every 15 seconds adjusting the weight lower each time to keep that one rep near failure weights, performed 4 to 6 times in a row. So that one type of exercise will take you 1 to 1.5 minutes. I haven’t done the rest pause method myself it’s just something that Mike created if you get fatigued too fast trying to do many reps with heavyweights instead of doing tones of volume. Just trying to educate and make ya realize there is more than 1 way.

I have never seen Big Sam do sit-ups or leg raises, so how does Sam get his stomach muscles because when he flexes you can see his 6 pack kf abs
Abs are mostly genetic and don’t grow as much as other muscles. A little stimulation from compound lifts usually gets them pretty close to what they’re gonna be. Just like calves and forearms. I know what you’re saying, I wish I had his genetics lol.
