    I did this to my hose and it makes a huge difference! I also put my power cable inside the sleeve as well, although I tend to pull the plug this way. I think I will try just the dust hose and see if that helps things a bit. Great tip, thank you!

      I decided against the lead inside. Works fine. Thanks for the comment!

    you could sneak one of your Festool cables into the sleeve with the hose

    The snagging is so annoying and it actually stopped a tracksaw cut once, and has also snagged end grain. Saw this idea a while back on YT ( Toolify?) and jumped on it, found the cable wrap in a color close to Festool green really cheap on eBay. I included the plug-it cable inside, which I've been happy enough with (large hose for tracksaw, small hose for sanders and router). Didn't know about the shrink connector, just used electrical tape, which seems to be working fine. I recommend this highly, everybody should do it! Actually, Festool should do it.

    I have also seen someone else use that hose but he used wire clips ( not the right name but it escapes me) to hold it on. He also ran the electrical cable inside so he kept them inside the hose. I love the scissors pity you could not get the green tape closer match the Festool green.

    I think I've even seen that braided cover in Festool green here in the US.

    Hi Dave - fantastic tip. I have my Plug-it cable attached to my hose and it generally works great but i think the cable wrap will improve that solution even more! I' go get some cable wrap right away.

    Great idea Dave. Tip instead of using electrical tape use silicone tape it doesn't leave that sticky mess.

    • @SuperBardley
      @SuperBardley 6 лет назад +2

      The silicone tape won't work. Why not? Because it doesn't come in the green color!! LOL

    Great tip! Even more important when you're using D.C. With the track saw and the hose gets "stuck" in the middle of a cut!

    I love your idea of putting the slip covering on the vacuum hose. By the way I just subscribed to you. Keep up the good work.

    hey great video. whats the diameter of the expandle wrap you used on a 27 mm festool hose. considering the expansion ratio ?

    Great idea to use braided tubing on extractor hoses to stop them snagging and cheap to do.

      Little tip, when using heat shrink on the end of the cable wrap use the waterproof heat shrink, it has the glue in the heat shrink so the wrap cant slip out.

    Hello Dave, i like your videos. This one to....its to simple but so handy. I was thinking why don't you put a powercord into the sleeve first? Justva thouth......

    • @DavidStanton
      @DavidStanton  8 лет назад

      Thank you. I could have but because this hose is a tight fit when coiled up the lead would have made it a little stiffer. Also, I use as a vacuum cleaner without a plug it lead most of the time.

    Hello and thank you for this video very instructive, I am also embarrassed with the pipe that rubs on the rail.
    This will serve me but I must find the same material in france .. a French youtuber who loves your chain ...

    I used this on my CT MINI. It worked great especially with the cord wrapped around it, but lasted just over a year before small rips and tares started. And a few months after they started I’d say it’s just annoying enough to need to be changed.

    Hi Dave, do you recall the diameter of the braided sleeve you used? Given it expands, I'm guessing it would either be 20 mm, 25 mm or 30mm?

      Done Mr. Stanton, I was always worried about the hose rubbing against the track on my TS 75. This was by far the best option and was only about $25.00. Thank you for your videos!

    Thanks Dave! Hey, do you run into that equally annoying hose issue where the hose gets all charged up w/ static electricity and attracts all kinds of filth and dirt? Maybe you're using one of Fester's anti-static hoses. I imagine we could run some bare copper wire inside your spiffy new cover or is it even necessary?

    • @DavidStanton
      @DavidStanton  6 лет назад

      A braided piece of wir would do if you have a dust extractor with earth connections at the inlet.

    I love my festool vacuum, but I had two concerns about the hose. I have been afraid that it will get dirty because of the fiber cover and I was afraid surfaces like concrete will wear away at the fibers. I like to keep my tools in good shape.

    I objected to having to pay £15 for the scrap of plastic that Festool sell to overcome this problem.
    My solution was to make a loop from a 600mm length of plastic parcel strapping, pass the hose through the loop, and staple the loop to the ceiling of my shed.
    This works as it keeps the hose clear of the track. I can easily remove the hose when it is needed on another tool.
    Of course, the loop hangs down, but when I bang my head on it, it doesn't hurt :-)
    Incidentally plastic, parcel strapping is a low-friction material. It makes great drawer runners for old furniture.

    Hi David, great video mate. What size sleeve did you use on that hose? I've got a 36mm hose and am wondering whether to order 35 or 40mm? Cheers Martin

    Hello David, great video as always ! Could you answer my question ? I am about tu buy a vacuum for my tools and was thinking about the CTL Midi but after seeing you use the CTL SYS I have a doubt. I only will be using it with a sander, a plunge saw and a rooter. Is the SYS enough for that. I am just a hobbyist, nothing like your shop ;-) Thank you and keep up the good work.

    • @DavidStanton
      @DavidStanton  8 лет назад +1

      Best to get the mini. all the festool vacs pull 3900 litres a minute except for the CTL SYS which only pulls 3000 litres per minute and also has a bypass valve if things get too hard for it. Only a light duty vac but very good at it's job. Thanks for posting!

    Hi David, love time viewer but new subscriber.
    I’m debating with myself to buy a makita tracksaw, however my heart is set on festool.
    What will your recommendations be? Is festool worth the extra money? What are your thoughts?

    • @DavidStanton
      @DavidStanton  6 лет назад

      There is nothing wrong with the Makita. The only issue is their tracks have a plastic strip for the saw to glide on where I am told the Festool has a Teflon strip. I usually stick with a brand if it delivers for me. I owned many Makita tools until around 15 years ago, then some DeWalt a Hitachi and then the green stuff I now have.

    • @harrygirgin6075
      @harrygirgin6075 6 лет назад

      David Stanton does the Teflon tape make it glide better than the plastic tracks?
      Would you say festool is more innovative with their tools? What was your reason to moving onto festool and could you justify the move when you started purchasing festool?
      If you had to convince me it’s worth the extra money what would you say?
      Looking forward to your thoughts as I’m looking at purchasing this week.

    • @DavidStanton
      @DavidStanton  6 лет назад

      I have never used the Makita track saw so cannot make 1st hand comment.
      My first Festool was a CXS drill and from there the track saw and Domino 700. They are all very good and were the leaders in these areas. You may find the Makita is right for you. I am not about to try to convince you either way because I am not employed by Festool, I just like their tools.

    I have done this, and I'm looking for a solution to a new problem: When I use the hose for my miter saw (or with a hand brush for cleaning up, etc) I would like some way to cap the plug it cable so that I can protect the end of the cable. I bundled the cable in with the hose. Does anyone have a hack?

    • @DavidStanton
      @DavidStanton  6 лет назад

      Hi Zach. The 27mm nozzle for the hose will do it. If you have an old one you can cut an inch off and use that.

    Its sad, these tools wont be used for what they are made for, hard abuse and hard work. You should get some cheaper tools that will fit with what you do to it and leave the festool for the pro.

    • @DavidStanton
      @DavidStanton  7 лет назад +2

      They get plenty of hard work but no abuse. I don't understand your judgmental comment?
