Thanks Brett , there’s a massive cult following for these cars in Chch New Zealand and we all use your videos to teach new drivers that buy them on Facebook. Just wish you’d have a shop here 👍🏽🍺

Mate I need your help with my b4 2001 legacy to replace the turbo in the right side of car looking at it from the front do I need to take an engine bolt out please help I’m stuck and it’s a beautiful b4 still
Hey MRT! I have a question, if you look at my channel, I recently imported a twin turbo JDM B4 Legacy, and it's been suffering from what seems to be a serious misfire / stumble / fuel cut around 3500-4000rpm. I check the live data with my scanner and it shows the rear oxygen sensor is Rich. I unplug the MAF and it runs perfectly fine... Any clues?? I'm really racking my brains trying to figure it out. I've smoked it with a smoke machine and have found no leaks... I'm going crazy...
Replace your Mass airflow meter with a new genuine one. The current sensor will be dirty and old and wont be measuring air temperature and airflow properly. Making the fuel mix too rich. Do not trust cheap tho. Only trust genuine.
@@tonyb3524 I could be wrong, but most of the EJ20 parts should be the same across the board. I always check partsouq and check part numbers using my VIN just to be sure.
wax333 yes, there are a number of people that will tune these in NZ. Best thing to do to these though is to single turbo them with a VF30 or larger and reflash the stock ecu with a V7 WRX Rom and tune it as a wrx.
wax333 sure, there are a number of independent tuners in NZ that do exactly that. best way to find them is jump on www.ClubSUB.org.nz and post your enquiry.
...... Bit too complex for you mate. I am a Subaru specialist and i if you're good at what you do, you learn how to get the best of of anything. Subaru master tech, pffffttt. If it ain't in the service manual is of of your league
Having owned several wrxs and now a B4 I can say that the B4 is a much better daily driver than the GD rexes I have owned. And if you spend a little time understanding the twin systems operation they are no different or harder to work on than any other subie. Also, with some minor mods and a good tune, pinging and VOD can be non existent.
If you don't know or aren't willing to learn they can be a pain in the arse! Running properly they are an awesome daily driver. Owne two of them, one auto modified 93 gt that does 5 seconds flat to 100 then starts pulling lots harder 👌🏿 Also have a stock 97 GT-B manual with only big exhaust upgrade.... Code 66 can be annoying 😅
PLEASE PLEASE do more b4 videos.
These cars are quite popular in Canada now that they have been legal for import for a few years. Had a blast owning a black rev A GT-B.
how do you find reliability and maintenance/repair cost?
I work on Subarus daily and your videos are top notch Brett.
Well done all the guys at MRT

Great video. Thanks for this. My JDM '98 B4 is great but it is a complex beast.
Can't wait bought a b4 getting a tune and service with mrt next couple of days will keep u guys tune what happens
so what happened after the tune?
Manual cars have the oil cooler on the oil filter.
would love to see more of what you do on this car while you have it.
Hello, what can be the problem if your engine checker light comes on my subaru Legacy B4 2001 twin turbo?
Air flow sensor
indicator fluid might be a bit low
Only one I could think of that usually goes would be bank 1. So probably front o2 sensor. Quite normal around 130k ish
Great work! Love the videos. Keep it up good sir!

It’ll be worth it 😉
hey mate, would need a tune for Canada, since the best octane I can get is 94
You should be fine I have two friends with the same car in canada
I own 2 rev D Subaru Legacy b4’s. One of my b4s doesn’t seem to want to use the second turbo. Just doesn’t feel like it kicks in. Any ideas ?
Vacuum leak?
How much should I expect to pay for a 2001 b4 liberty? There's one for sale I'm looking at with low k's but price seems a bit steep..
Depends where you live i mean here in manitoba with less then 130,00 km they typically go for around 8 grand with a saftey
does anybody know if the 2002 liberty spec b has a banjo bolt for the turbos?
They should, my 01 legacy gtb e tune has one.
They do

@@tonyb3524 a lot of the parts are the same as a wrx or legacy gt here in North America. So far I’ve had no problem getting parts.

Is the liberty gt 2.0 2004 same engine?
2004 would be a single turbo, the 3Gen was the last of the EJ20TT :)

Can you please send me contact details as I need both turbos for 2000 sti b4 subaru legacy 2.oltr boxer motor.
