- This is a very fun instrument to play and I would recommend it to anyone looking to get into the hobby. It's a great introduction into guitar, stringed instruments, bottleneck blues, slide guitar or lap steel guitar.

This is the guitar I bought BBG, cant wait for the video
It's a lot of fun, and it still holds up after several years too!
I just discovered your channel and am going all over the place in your history to see you playing tons of instruments...
Fantastic videos you're doing here Quentin
-Gary
I had to slow down the purchases now that I am in school again and my apartment is pretty full. XD
Thank you for commenting, I had forgotten about my RUclips and it might be fun to make more videos. There are a couple instruments like my glazyrin vargan and Oleg nyega bass harp that I never made a video about.
I am very focused on studying computer networking and now I collect watches. XD what is with me and collecting stuff. Anyways, have a great day, thanks for watching.
@@N0GIY Well, I very much enjoy what you've put up here all the same and will try to catch them whenever you do get around to them. Also I love what appears to be your 'music room/space' where you've filmed a bunch of the videos.
Oh yeah, those instruments do sound quite interesting-would love to see them....
Also enjoyed the cat videos as well!

Got this model for a Christmas present in 2020. Loads of fun. Enjoyed it so much I upgraded to one with a fully fretted neck so I could use my fingers and a slide. This one has drawbacks which made me upgrade, first I wanted to be able to finger play as well as use a slide, so I needed a fretted neck, then I discovered the neck was to short for some of the things I wanted to play. The neck disappears into the box on this model, I needed one with a longer neck that wasn’t buried in the box. I was able to find one that met my needs with a little searching. This is a great starter instrument, but if you’re really going to get into it, do yourself a favour and upgrade.
Sounds nice :D
Hello there, My good friend Gary just alerted me to your videos, so here I am. Very interesting instrument, and even more interesting and creative approach to it. Thanks for sharing this. Looking forward to checking out more from you. -Carm
Hello Carm, I subscribed to both you and Gary, you both seem like very interesting people from your videos!
My obsessions change a lot from time to time, so I can't guarantee there be more videos that interest you, but it's always nice to be in contact with like minded individuals.
I live in Houston and I feel pretty out of place listening to old timer country and blues, but all the greats followed what pleased themselves and nothing else.
Thanks for watching and have a great day!
I love my little Honeytone amp, it’s great to play my harmonica through with headphones. I get all kinds of effects.....for $25 bucks!!!
That's the deal of the century. You can't even get McDonald's for 25 bucks
Lots of bang for the bucks, it's pretty good and sounds good.
that’s pretty rad
I have the same!
Can I ask what amp you were playing this through at first in the video? Some people are coating the outside of the box with clear lacquer or something, and say it stiffens up the box.
Absolutely awesome! Really well done. I enjoyed it. And I might try playing on my lap! I've used piezo and magnetic pickups in my builds. Still middle of the road on which one is best. They Both have their strengths.
I've been wanting to get a resonator guitar, but I've not been practicing enough to warrant the expense. I'm completely obsessed with acoustic instruments now, maybe because my pickups and amp aren't a good setup. Lap is super relaxing and fun.
@@N0GIY my like minded brother! I'm Really good at building then (been 3 years now, 4 cigar box guitars and 2 mountain (4 string) banjos for my nieces) I've even evolved to using curly maple and wood dye! It looks frigging fantastic if I do say so my self! The next is a base guitar with a blood wood neck. I already have the blood wood. I'd love to exchange more. Maybe share what it's like to play an instrument so I know how to build it better. You know, give me your "artist's" interpretation.
@@N0GIY oh! And I make "acoustic" with a piezo pick up. You can't even tell, but hook it up to a 10 watt amp! And oh boy!! :-) nice to meet ya brother! Nice video.
@@scottmichael3745 One thing that always bothers me is that there aren't many banjo's with a "scoop". It's very nice for open-back banjo playing in an old timey clawhammer style or for Pete Seeger style. The frets near the head are never used anyways. I prefer no more than 16 frets and the neck cut out so the fretboard is away from the strings. This is like the sweetspot for a nice warm tone as well as being easier on the wrist. I want to buy a DEERING GOODTIME AMERICANA WITH SCOOPED NECK someday, but again it's hard to justify spending $600 on it. :(
It's really cool that you build instruments, that's an awesome hobby! I ran out of space in my apartment and have been nerding out over wrist watches.... now I have too many. XD I can't wait until my wife and I get a house and I can fill a room with different instruments. I love making noise. Woodworking is a totally different animal.
@@N0GIY They're much easier to make than you think! I started making them in my apartment with only hand tools. I actually looked up how on you tube.
It's cheap on Amazon because it is cheap. Spend a bit more and get a decent one or better still, build your own. There are lots of parts out
there. I have built 70 of them using parts from CB Gitty and MGB Guitars. Sentinel guitars - Bozeman Montana. Having said that I enjoyed your playing Quentin.
some people cant afford to splash cash, so these are a budget alternative
first amp is what....
Would you reccomend this as someone who cant play the guitar ar all
If you don't mind playing it in your lap like I was. You have to put the thing together yourself first, so it's quite fun and reading.
I have seen lots of people hold it like a regular guitar, but I can't because the neck is square and there is no strap for it.
I would consider it if you are just looking for something fun. :)
Yes I can't play but it's alot of fun I have the same one
Did they send a fortune cookie with it?
Fortune cookies are actually American, so no. It's not the worst instrument I have ever played, but it is bad enough to not recommend as anyone first instrument
Dude I just found this on the apartment I just moved in, didn’t know it was a $25 it looks more expensive
Cheap, but lots of fun!!! :D cool toy to come across by accident like that!
action not too high huh
With this instrument, the interaction is between the string and the bar, not the frets.
@@N0GIY which amp... u used first...
Sounds like i'm in china town
I'm not playing in an oriental style in any way, it's in a blues style, which is American.
The instrument is definitely chinese and mass produced, made of cardboard and awful materials, but I feel it's in the style and tradition of what the original CBG was made to accomplish: be cheap and affordable.
Great playing
