- Four Shishangaan male lions expanding their territory to take over the N’semani Lion Pride in the Kruger National Park South Africa.
The Shishangaan coalition consists of 4 male lions and one of them being the famous white lion Casper, who are the dominant males around Satara rest camp and are the pride males of the Satara lion pride. Last year they had shown interest in taking over the N’semani lion pride even seen mating on several occasions. They landed up settling with the Satara pride which resulted in the 2 Nkaya pan males taking over the N’semani pride from the old Mbiri and rockfig male. In the last couple months the Shishangaan males have started expanding their territory in the pursuit of taking over the N’semani lion pride and they have most frequently been seen around the dam mating and in the company of lionesses from the N’semani pride. The Shishangaan males are confident boys making them very vocal and can often be heard announcing their presence with loud roars around Satara rest camp.
In this video early morning we found them just east of N’semani in between the Dam and Satara they returned distant roars of neighbouring lions. They then got active during midday causing a massive traffic jam which they are famous for doing around Satara. The 4 male lions made there way towards N’semani dam. Before resting near road close to N’semani. 2 of Caspers brothers, Mfowethu and Casanova ended of the day with a magnificent roar making it loud and clear that they are here to take over.
In remains to be seen what the future will hold for the Nkaya pan males who fathered cubs with females from the N’semani pride earlier this year.
We have seen Casper and his brother with at least 6 different lionesses from the N’semani pride.

These dark maned lions are much stronger then there albino sibling.
BLACK/DARK maned lions have 2 much testiron running treu there vains.
Albino lions dont have no chance at all.

And if he is albino or leucistic, that wouldn't mean he lacks any testosterone since it only affects pigmentation of the skin, not testosterone levels or the overall health. For all we know he could have the highest levels of testosterone of the four of them.

Albino lion found many backup from the DARKER MALE LIONS his brohters.
It was 7 brohters,3 normal looking lions,4 albino's .they where chased by a coalition off 3 males these 7 run 4 there lives😄.
And already 3 of the 4 albino lions have been killed by ohter DARK MANED male lions😄.

I know we are all fascinated by lions but the cars jammed up around them takes all the enjoyment out of it for me. It's a travesty of wildlife.

That’s was the big problem I found with Kruger. Still an amazing place, but the private reserves definitely feel more wild with much fewer vehicles, no paved roads, etc.

Nothing says wild more than 4 big male lions. Well except for the 50 cars following them, that doesn't seem quite as wild.

In complete agreement Carollinagirl, all the animals have right of way in Kruger and due respect must be paid to them. To say that they are awe inspiring is understating it.

I see these pictures of four lions walking down a road and a traffic jam behind them and think - wow, is this ever screwed up. Man has really screwed up this whole situation.

Such beautiful creatures. I'm always so sorry to see how people in their vehicles are so rude and intrusive all in the interest of taking more and more and more pictures. How many thousands do they need that justify pushing into the lions' space? At any rate, this is one stunning coalition.

I'll never get used to regular vehicles driving by sleeping lions on a paved road. It doesn't seem to bother the lions because they're used to it. But it sure doesn't seem anywhere near normal. It's one thing to see a few safari vehicles in the Bush. But this? Very odd.
Doesn’t bother the lions and whatever was paid to gain access is eventually to their benefit. I’m certain careful briefings and instructions are given and seemingly followed by drivers(despite consternation by on onlookers). The show’s over soon enough when they disappear into the brush settling on a robust Cape Buffalo carcass.

The vehicles are only allowed on the road, so if the lions get off the road, the vehicles cannot follow them by law. It looks strange, but the lions prefer the road over the savanna as it is easier to walk and no flees.
I notice that the lions love that airstrip they have out in one spot. They walk and sleep all over that airstrip.

The lions are so used to the cars and people that they don't even pay attention to them in a slightest bit.
The one with Dreadlocks and dark mane ones look awesome. The DM and the Mohawk looks closer and Casper doesnt seem to be close to anyone.
The ones that look way better are Rock and Roar the cousins of the distinct Barbary Lions.

Roads are a small part of the park, could've gotten away from them if they wanted to.
They’re fine, believe me. The lions rule the road here, & they know it. There’s plenty of places they could go off away from the road where they’re not seen or disturbed but they insist on using the roadway & plonking down in the middle of it to show their ownership & dominance! (As a fellow animal lover I initially thought this myself until I went there & saw that the lions are in control here, not the humans! Unless ppl are being noisy or leave their vehicles running etc then that is definitely unacceptable, but they have rangers always close by to make sure everyone comply’s with the rules).

Although it’s aggravating to see all the traffic interfering with the animals, KNP is helping keep those beautiful animals safe from poachers. The fees collected are used to keep the reserve functioning. It’s basically a reverse zoo…….the animals are free to roam, and the people are contained in “little metal cages”……..cars.

Imagine you are driving a soft top convertible down and the car decides to breakdown right there and when you try to close it, you realize it is a manual roof.
