So of all countries, Spain has the worst average placing, BUT: If Ireland was 11th everywhere, it means that they got 0 points in total. Maybe Spain was 26th everywhere but in the top 10 of, let's say, France for example. So Spain did get some points which resulted in being higher than Ireland despite having a worse average placing.

The first country has an average place of 11 The second country has an average place of 14 But, this are the average places. Because if the televotes gave Ireland 4 points (let's just say), but the jury hated it, then the vote would effectively be lost. If this happened in quite a few countries (I presume it did), then a lot of votes would be lost when the public actually loved the song. But with Spain, maybe a few juries really liked the song, but the rest didn't, and the public also gave it votes, then the song would get more votes even though less people liked it. It's a little confusing but that's probably how Ireland lost :(

I don't see why I should pay money to give my vote when it doesn't even matter. Even if I vote a billion times, the jury can annihilate it all by putting my favourite on place 20 or lower. The old system was way better because the winner of the televote would at least get 2 points in total! But now you cant understand the results at all.
