Hello jimmy. I from Korea. Three years ago, I worked as a white collar. But my job was not passionate and I worked for money. One day watching RUclips, I accidentally saw a video of you making furniture. It was so much fun to see the furniture being finished. So, I quit my company and started to learn woodworking. That was three years ago and now I go to a woodworking company to make furniture. And now I came up with the dream of shooting a carpentry video and started RUclips like you. It is lacking a lot, but is pleased to be doing it now. My other dream is to work as a carpenter abroad. I don’t know you will read my comment but thank you for helping me find a job that makes me happy. I am your big fan from Korea. Thank you.
Thks for sharing your project with us keep making projects like this makes it easy to understand and fun will give it ago ya got my vote like what l see
Oh....please tell me you close by.... I soooo want to come over to your place and make one of these one day.... that was an awesome video. Great whirligig
I think I saw this project some time before and still watching it with full attention .Several nice technics ( like simple block under on bend saws ) .Great mailbox sign . Thank you Jimmy !
You are so inspiring brother! I am looking forward to meeting you hopefully in Louisville at the maker fair in Sept and then again at the good of the land fest in October!! My two boys and I have watched every video from day one! Your gift has inspired us to do this stuff as a family and love your stuff!
let me teach you the right way!! You need to use 3:1 gear for it to spin freely and easily, and also you need to bend open the fan blades a little bit more to trap more wind and make spinning less heavy. but hmmm yeah overall you're doing ok kid !!
@Jimmydiresta ...I'm a big fan....can you explain the band saw used in the video? Is it a wood cutting saw with a metal cutting blade, or is the saw specific for metal cutting? Thanks again for the inspiration!!!!
I remember this on Make. Still reminds me of an old episode of The X-Files where an HOA sics a sludge monster on a guy for not following their guidelines. A whirligig was the final straw for them. lol
I feel like it goes without saying, but it doesn't and I should say it more: I love the project and thank you for taking the time to put your work out there for the rest of us. You're a constant inspiration. Speaking of inspiration -- I have to ask, was this project inspired (in whole or in part) by the New Yankee Workshop project along the same lines? I've loved that show since childhood and I sometimes feel like I can see a little bit of Norm in your work.
When I were around 4 - 12 year old, my grandmother had one of these at her summer cabin but it was made of wood. But what is the meaning with the numbers?
You'll never sleep on a windy night.

I have no clue how your mind comes up with some of this stuff, This is so cool.
You should make things for Popular Mechanics DIY. It would be a very popular column.
wow! It's so cute!

Very cool! It will last until it's over lol 😂
Hi Jimmy. Why did you use a scrap of plywood in your saw?
Thanks for sharing your work.
Zero Clearance plate, so that thin material doesn't get sucked down into the saw
Thank you Kyle Falconer
I think too also give him room for his fingers to grasp the small pieces... to more easily turn them. 💝☀🌵
Suzi SaintJames thank you
Insane!
A fume extractor is a bit more...gentle. You're sucking away your gas, which is a bit of a waste. IF, that's the intention behind the vacuum.
Awesome as always. Have you considered making something cool and unique to use as a mailbox?

#TBT 7:17 - Noooo, your tree branches are still hanging downwards!!! 😆😆😆😂😂😂

I didn't know what a whirlygig was so this video just kept getting cooler and cooler as it went along.
