The ending is how I remember Foxhill, black and white and teaming with life and very noisy. I was maybe four years old. All those workers ate in my fathers Chip shop @95, Market street, which would have been at the beginning of this video, close to the small red door in the wall. Behind us was Parliament street which was lit by gas lamps. The well worn corner kerb for Parliament street is still there, and can be seen on google maps. The communal toilet for this area was to the right on some spare land in a wooden shed that was placed over a hole in the ground. No house had a bathroom in this area. Foxhill bank was yearly camped by Romanian gypsies in a Horse drawn caravan, who sold wooden pegs. I went to school at St Pauls in my wooden shoes, and loved School milk. The area was very Industrial and soot soaked, and I was shocked at the cleaner, greener difference, now that Market street has been turned into a bus stop. The red brick building on the corner used to look very smart, in stark contrast to the view down the hill. Folk worked for their living down the hill and over in the Bleach factory. I've since learnt my Father never really enjoyed it there. It got him away from working in a mill. Down the road was a railway line and you could get to Fleetwood by the sea and buy fresh Kippers. Fleetwood is full of marinas now.
Yes that photo was when steiners had it and a huge fire happened 1906. Yes the area was very industrial with lots of factories i have maps showing all of them and there are loads. Do you know an are further down called "bury me wich" at church con club ? An old place.
In future... would be better to film lots of places and then add the commentary to the video rather than just talking to camera. The content is good but its not easy to watch (IMHO).
