- Introduction to some of the elements of the Industrial Revolution, more on this subject to come!
The economic developments of the 1800s saw the development of agrarian and handicraft economies in Europe and America transform into industrial urbanised ones.
The term to describe this phenomenon would be known as the ‘Industrial Revolution’ and was first used by French writers, but made popular by English economic historian Arnold Toynbee.

1:54 I was taught that there was the flying shuttle which increased cloth production 4 times, then the spinning Jenny which increased cloth production by 8 times, and then finally the water wheel which increased cloth production a 100 times. The flying shuttle and spinning Jenny could be used in homes, but the water wheel needed to be used at a river close to a factory.
and then the hellhole known as the us school system was born

Introduction:
The world has changed drastically in the last two centuries. Technology has advanced, population has grown, and the economy has become more global. With these changes, we have seen the emergence of new challenges, some of which are difficult to solve. This essay will explore the challenges of the global economy, and how they can be addressed.
Body:
The global economy has faced a number of challenges in recent years. One of the most pressing issues is income inequality. Inequality between countries can lead to a lack of access to resources, which can leave some people in poverty or without basic needs. Additionally, inequality can lead to political instability and civil unrest, as people become frustrated with the lack of opportunity. Another challenge is the environmental impact of the global economy. The burning of fossil fuels for energy has caused air pollution, which can have devastating effects on health. In addition, deforestation and overfishing have put pressure on the environment, leading to a decrease in biodiversity and a decrease in the overall quality of life. Finally, the global economy has seen an increase in economic volatility, as economic downturns can have a ripple effect on other countries.
Conclusion:
The challenges of the global economy are complex and require a collaborative effort to

Without the industrial revolution, 8 billion people wouldn't probably be on this planet as the industrial revolution supported food, trade, like the video says and also medicine increased, letting people live in cities. Though, the worst parts of the industrial revolution were the 19th and 20th century. After WW2, it's affects slowly left.

just one question: what is the train-like cart in the background at 2:08? i kinda wondered how was farming before tractors, is it an old tractor?
The Industrial Revolution is a fascinating topic. The 'what is it?' is quite evident, the 'why did it happen?', not so much. The agrian revolution needed to occur to release labour to the factories. An important catalyst was the imposition of the The Inclosure Acts which took land away from the peasants and forced them to migrate to the towns in search of work in order to purchase food which they had previously grown themselves. Without the Inclosure Acts amalgamation of peasant farming strips into larger fields ideally suited for mechanisation would not have occurred so rapidly.
"and they could leave the land" is such an insane sentence.

Germany surpassed Britain first and then USA surpassed Britain and Germany. IIRC Germany surpassed Britain in the 1890s and USA surpassed Germany just before WW1.
Evilsamar noooo Britain surpassed everyone then America surpassed Britain
Great Jamie No. Britain was the most industrialized initially. Then Germany surpassed Britain and then USA surpassed Germany.
You forget that Britain had a huge empire, including India which contributed a huge portion of GDP recorded separate from mainland U.K.
Tom Flynn Im not talking about GDP, that might have been a misunderstanding. I am talking about heavy industry. I read that Britain was first for a couple of decades (since the evolution started there), then Germany surpassed it in industrial capacity (of some sort, Im not sure what exactly is included into heavy industry) and then USA surpassed Germany right before WW1.
Thanks for the info.. very good presentation. Asking for permission to use this in my science technology and society online class. Thank you very much!

not really, as steam power has been used for a 1000 years before. Its more on mining and using coal, mass production, and trade.
