FYI, for anyone else trying this you could unscrew the sink clips a little and wedge washers under it without messing with the plumbing get a much cleaner edge.
I tried this and also tried to build stilts to support the sink from underneath. Unfortunately my plumbing had no give in it so I had to go ahead and remove the whole thing. It was worth it in my opinion though. (By the way I was using a different kit, not this appliance spray method.)

I did this for my mom’s kitchen countertops and she loves it! She had a 70’s orange countertop. I sanded it and decided to do a coat of primer due to the color and painted 2 coats of the white appliance apoxy. It looks great! The only area that didn’t come out smooth was around the kitchen sink. I would definitely remove the clip sinks and prop it up then recaulk if I do it again. Thanks for the video, looks awesome!
If you got the one step paint for cabinets in a blue or black your kitchen would really look amazing. For the spot that lost the gloss try finger nail clear gloss in a little spot or just clear gloss enamel. Hair spray may work on the marker. The counter tops look fantastic
Those counters look beautiful! I know that they now make a paint specifically for laminate/Formica countertops. I’ve seen a lot of people use peel and stick wallpaper, but to be honest, it may look good on camera, but I have a feeling it looks like wallpaper in person. I can imagine that painting looks so much better. PS I used appliance paint to restore a refrigerator that worked great but had significant rust damage (the “advantages” of living beach front 🙄), and that appliance paint ROCKS! It made the refrigerator look like new, and it LASTED.
Hi everyone tomorrow is one week for I paint the countertops and I love is looking good clean shined and so easy to clean I very happy thank you so much 😊 is amazing idea the best.
Safety tip: When sanding it's good to wear a dust-filter mask, goggles, & gloves. A synthetic surface may have especially irritating dust. Also if you can rent an electric sander with a vacuum attached, it's faster & cleaner.
@@yewtoobbrute dust filter mask is enough for the sanding step IF it's a good quality mask. However, if doing on going projects, it certainly is well worth it to buy a respirator mask.

I love this! I think im going to try this but do epoxy over it for more protection. Im also going to add white to the epoxy, a little gray paint with a feather for the marble affect, and use a putty for the seam you tried to cover then sand very good. I saw a video with a guy using a putty to fill in scratches, dents, and seams. He then sanded them down once it was sanded and painted you couldn't see ANYTHING! @@thomasfisher3051 polyaspartic doesn’t turn yellow. It’s slightly softer than epoxy though. I used it on my white painted countertops last summer and they’ve held up really well. I think a thicker coat would make me feel they were more bullet proof but I intentionally did a granite look to hide any scuffs or issues. Some minor scratches but you can’t see them unless you look really closely. My sister in law did epoxy close to the same time with pigments inside and hers feels harder and is beautiful too but is yellowing slightly already.
I have the exact same green counters & I HATE then! Thanks 4 the video, I'm gonna start conquering this. I love the white it looks so much better & brighter!
I've seen some only slightly higher priced alternatives I like more, but they're harder to do, so... I'm trying to watch everything I can on this kind of thing, to make my mind up on it. Thanks.
I tested the same epoxy product on old porcelain tile 😀 and it worked! I just tested one square to make sure cause I didn't want to do the whole area only to find out it peeled off or something. But it didn't peel off... I followed your sanding and prepping instructions and then painted one coat each for 3 days and it's now in the curing process. Sanding is a must especially on porcelain. After 3 coats it looks glossy and nice like new tile! I lightly scratched the edges with a nail to see if it comes off, but luckily the paint is still on and not peeling. As long as you let it dry enough days before using the surface, it will be fine 👍👍👍 Just wanted to share my results and thank you for this tutorial! 💛
So am I correct in understanding that you used this on porcelain tile and it came out shiny? I’m bout to paint my tile on the kitchen walls and I really wanted the look of subway tiles but could figure out how to get them shiny. This might be the answer! What did you use for a degreaser prior to painting if I may ask? Thanks!!!!
@@sharronharding8112 I used soap, water, vinegar and baking soda solution... But the video states you can use a degreaser. It's a lot of scrubbing, I'm not gonna lie. Make sure you sand the tiles and wipe off the dust before painting just like the video shows. The smell of the epoxy is pretty strong, like nauseating strong! I had to use a N95 mask when applying coats.
I painted mine. The laminate had water damage and was black in a lot of places. I used a nap roller so it has texture. It looks like cement. I love it. I used Dixie Belle Slick Stick, no sanding required. Then chalk paint and sealed with Gator Hide. It takes a month to cure so I washed dishes in the bathroom.

I tried this and also tried to build stilts to support the sink from underneath. Unfortunately my plumbing had no give in it so I had to go ahead and remove the whole thing. It was worth it in my opinion though.
(By the way I was using a different kit, not this appliance spray method.)
@@PJErvin I am a peel the trim off first painter, generally. I had to scrape paint off the stove and replace switch plates when we moved in. SMH
She could wrap her appliances with vinyl stainless steel!
I wish I could move my ass that fast 😅
Does the paint smell
Yes ,when is fresh but the go the next day 😊
Hey there! 👋🏻 Yes it does!! its very strong ... wear a mask, open the windows and turn on some fans!! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for sharing your experience and tips with us! I was extremely skeptical, but now I'm thinking I'll give it a shot! 🤞😊
Great Video. I must say the counter tops turned out way better than I expected!!
Got Great Respect . You are not Lazy ! You know we all learn . This looks like I might be able to do this after watching your video .
Safety tip: When sanding it's good to wear a dust-filter mask, goggles, & gloves. A synthetic surface may have especially irritating dust. Also if you can rent an electric sander with a vacuum attached, it's faster & cleaner.
dust filter mask is not enough (I wore one for the first coat); spring for a respirator mask -- your lungs will thank you.
@@yewtoobbrute dust filter mask is enough for the sanding step IF it's a good quality mask. However, if doing on going projects, it certainly is well worth it to buy a respirator mask.
She GOT IT DONE!! HALLELUJAH! This is fantastic, may God bless you and your family💗💗💗
haha thank you! ♥️
I was thinking of putting in new countertops but I wanted to save money. I found your video and so glad I did! I will now try doing this! Thank you so much for being honest about some of the flaws and what you would have done different. You did an awesome job and the countertops look amazing!
Same here!! we want to replace them eventually, but for now we don't have the extra 3k to spend. I needed an affordable yet attractive change in the mean time, The Green had to go! Make those last few coats nice and thick! Let me know how it goes!
I would also love to do my parents old counter tops for them. Just laid their kitchen floors and now the counter looks prehistoric LOL an old blue similar to the green shown

the change on the countertop is incredible, well done
Hey Lisa! Thank you for watching! Yea for sure! Really brightens up the room, makes our kitchen feel bigger.

yes for sure!! I was desperate to get rid of the green ..... do it!! wear a mask though! 😆
Love, love, love your bar stools. Great job. I've been thinking about doing this too. Scary.
Not bad for $40. Very nice.
Exactly! Thanks for watching!
This came out really great!
I did a faux granite with primer, .50 acrylic paints and multiple coats of polycrylic. Definitely made some mistakes, but like you, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Your one stop shop looks a whole lot easier.
Love the solid white, it really pops. 💕👍
Thank you so much for watching Sharyn! I’m sure all your hard work your counter looks great and is super durable! Yea we are really liking the white still! So easy to clean and holding up better than I thought it would!
Love it! We have white countertops from the 90s lol. I really want to change it up!
You did a great job. Thank you for recording and sharing how you did this. I have ugly orange counter tops.
Orange??? 🤨😮 I can't even believe it! I don't think I have ever seen orange countertops! Well, let me know how it goes!! 🙂 Thank you for watching Im glad it was helpful!
I appreciate that you spoke about the mistakes. That was very helpful, as I have a much smaller countertop project for my tiny kitchen but I think this will be a great solution. I'll wait for a sunny day!
Great job! I’d love to see you paint your cabinets white and add handles too! I love your kitchen!
Great idea!! However hubby said no to the white .... though i may be able to talk him into Cerusiing with white and a grey/blue? he said i could try it on the bath room first ... now just gotta find time! 🕰 😆 I actually purchased black cast iron handles and pulls ... can't wait to get to use them!

Cool. This is on my list. I painted my cabinets last year and love them. It took five weekends, but it was worth it. Thank you for the tips!

Yes it did for sure! That green was terrible! Thank you so much for watching Artie!
I love the white counter top it’s so pretty
Thank you!! Its much better than what it was before
I love this! The epoxy adds a hard shiny finish so once its cured you want have any peeling, dents, or scratches. Thanks for this video! Gave me the courage i needed to do this!
Yay!! I love that you now feel confident you can do this!! What youre talking about doing with the color sounds AMAZING!! You will have to let know how it goes!! I needed to find something easy, the least amount of steps that I could do all by myself. Truly, if I can do it, you can!!

@@Laswm4950 Good luck!! Will you post pictures when done?
White epoxy turns yellow from uv light. There are videos about it all over youtube. I am trying to figure a way to do it with out that issue.
I love this idea. I would still maybe put a layer of epoxy as a finish or clear contact paper.
I have the exact same green counters & I HATE then! Thanks 4 the video, I'm gonna start conquering this. I love the white it looks so much better & brighter!
It looks so good! Definitely better than a lot of other countertop makeovers I’ve seen, and cheaper to boot! I want to try this, for sure. :)
if you do let me know how it goes
That’s FANTASTIC!! 😀 thanks so much for sharing! And thank you for watching!! ♥️
I love it. Great job! Also I like shiplap.
Thanks! 😄I do too, I think we are leaning toward that, Im thinking maybe even putting it vertical ... 🤔
