I've noticed that saltwater reef keepers often do quite well with Sulawesi Shrimp. Probably because we are used to using RO water and specific salts while freshwater folks often cut corners and due to the hardiness of freshwater creatures, they can usually get away with it. I admit, that 8.5 salt is a PITA to dissolve but still, that seems to be the best for these guys.
Me personally, I came from aquascaping background, with low TDS, low KH, low ph, all that jazz. Sulawesi shrimps are very different from what I used to for sure. Also using DIY minerals when keeping these shrimps is probably a dumb move by me. Have to try 8.5 in the future
I had 6 cardinal sulawesi shrimp 2 of them are dead due to temperature fluctuations because of winters i have used a heater now and set it to 26c, I have a question what to feed them i don't think they are accepting the shrimp food.
Sorry for your loss, they ARE really sensitive. Generally most shrimps eat soft algae, something like diatoms or slimy green algae or what people call biofilm. These natural foods are probably the best. What shrimp food are you giving currently? I didn't recall exactly which food they like the most, but when I was caring for my boxer shrimps infected with vorticella, they seem to accept Hikari Algae Wafer quite okay. In the past I gave my shrimps Hikari Shrimp Cuisine too so worth a try.
great video! glad to see these shrimp. It's disheartening to see the deaths, but it looks like the aquarium balanced out. The fuzz, ouch, not great to have but the salt dip should correct that. very beautiful shrimp, can't wait to see the next update!
Thanks!! All I have left now is 2 boxer shrimps that I did salt dip on, they're now in the small isolation tank. Both seems to be female so I can't breed them now. But at least I got 2 now, rather than 0.
hello i have also sulawesi shrimps, caridina dennerli. the best water is ro-water and mix it with sulawesi mineral salt. sulawesi shrimp are very sensitive of the water parameters. there need ph 7.5 to 8.5 PH. thx for the video, i like.
damn that sucks. too bad you couldnt find them affected by them on the parasites on delivery. that probably could have saved you finacially. sucks because sulawesi shrimps are like the most expensive and hard to care for shrimp.
I only checked for green fungus on their legs, this is my first time dealing with vorticella. Funnily enough, I treated the ones with visible fuzz by salt dip and they're the only ones surviving! It really does sucks, an expensive lesson for sure.
can you tell me which tools you used to make high quality videos. i love your filming

I use demineralized water but I think there's some fault to my mineral salt since I did DIY...
Shrimp keeping learning curve is so frustrating!
