Excellent video thanks for showing DVR and backup cams in the car. Because of your video I'll be purchasing the A6 Pro but without gesture controls because of manual transmission. Thanks again, solid video!
Hey man great video, appreciate the time taken making it. under appreciated sometimes. looks sweet, Just ordered mine. your video confirmed it for me. Thanks.,
I used HERE Maps for my offline navigation. Just download the provinces or states you want right up front. It stores it on the device. No need for internet connection. However, I started using Google Maps when I DID have connection, for the traffic updates and whatever.
Thanks for the great review. I like reducing the sound when in reverse, but here's a thought: if the OBDII is active, they could reduce the sound proportionally to the vehicle speed. Chevy had/has this feature, but only in 3 levels. Atoto could let you set a speed for max sound, say 60, then reduce the volume down as you get off the highway, maybe 25% when stopped at a light. It'd just be software.
I know this is an older video but this is a great in depth review as I also watched your part 1. Thank you! Only thing I can't find anyone demonstrating is if this unit does any kind of video (files or streaming Netflix)? I was also wondering if we can plug an extra screen for kids in the back to stream RUclips or anything. PS You should make more videos! You present very well and have the voice for it.
It'll run anything you can get from the Play store, so install the Netflix/Amazon/etc apps and go to town with streaming, or use your Android mpeg player of choice. There is a video out so you have options there too.
John Capozzi, you wouldn't happen to know if this would fit nicely on 2011 Hyundai Tucson? The Tucson GLS has like a slight angled screen. Thank you for taking your time out to share with us.

External microphone fix: I have both an A6 And A6 Pro and on both the mic jack is switched with the SWC jack. Plugged the mic in the SWC jack and google maps audio search works! Seems like the head unit mic would have worked with the external mic in the wrong jack, but it did not. Hmmmmmm. I, too, wish they would include a custom equalizer setting. What's the point of programming in an adjustment page if they are not saved? Maybe it's an oversight and will be fixed.
Great video review, I order one and can't wait to install it, where did you get the USB adapter that uses the two USB plugs the Atoto came with that you used in a cigarette lighter hole, do they just plug into the rear or did you have to slice them in
They just plug in, no splicing required. I used the 12V socket hole in the dash, the unit linked below is designed to fit right in standard socket cutouts, but it also comes with an under-dash mount, is USB 3.0, waterproof, and had a plenty of cable giving you a lot of flexibility in where you mount it. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WWNZ18N/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
I have the same radio with the rear view and front camera. The installer killed my air/heat climate controls when they wired it in. They refuse to pay for the repair. The music on microsd card doesn't start as soon as car starts. Takes about a minute.
Sorry about your installer, that sucks. If you can, get a faster speed rated SD card, and if you have all your music in the root directory instead of in folders, that can really slow things down for any Android-based unit.
Thanks John, awesome review. I bought the A6 pro without the gesture feature. Everything is working great except for steering wheel controls on my 2007 Honda Pilot. Which adapter did you use for your car? Thanks again.
I don't know, I sold that car over a year ago. But there isn't much to go bad, it's a commodity LCD display, a collection of off-the-shelf parts, and a low power amp/pre-amp. I would expect it could easily last years. I do know that the previous 2017 A6 model, that I owned and then gifted to my brother, is still working in his wife's Tahoe...I used it for over six months, they've been using it for over a year.
Does whatever your listening to go silent when you put it in reverse? I installed an inexpensive deck in my truck a while back and turns everything off when the rear camera comes on.
Hi John, Hi, Thanks for detailed review. I'm planning to go with this one (along with backup camera setup do you have suggestion on best backup camera for this one?) but my mechanic is suggesting to go with JWC V340BT. For me ATOTO A6Y Pro looks more promising and hope it fits my 2008 CR-V model. For using the Google Maps or Waze app do we need the phone paired for LTE data or GPS antenna comes with the model is enough? Hope you are using it till now. Is there any noticeable issues after your review?
Hi Akbarsait I have the A6 Pro in my 2003 CRV and it works very nicely, I am from Canada and for Navigation I did my homework which I found OsmAnd the best and cheap at $10.00 and you can have Live as well. With Google Map if one goes with Offline maps, you have to download every month. I live in a rural area so my need for Offline maps but with my Iphone it can work using data, my GPS antenna is working great for everything I need. Good Luck
Great video! So do you just use your phone as a mobile hotspot? My data plan doesn't allow me to use my phone as a mobile hotspot. What are my options?
I had a standalone LTE hotspot device ran through my carrier, tons of them out there for reasonable prices, and data-only plans are usually affordable.
Finally i see a look to atoto with all his features! SWC, RC, FC, etc, do you need aditional hardware to make SWC works? Now, the only thing i need to consider, is if the atoto run android auto! great review!
Upper corners can be tricky, the right in particular, with small touch targets. However, I think it's a geometry problem, NOT a touch screen issue. From the driver's seat, especially on the upper right with a LHD car, your finger approaches at a fairly extreme angle increasing the chance you'll touch the screen early/in the wrong place with the lower portion of your finger. On top of that you have the device bezel and car trim plate limiting how far your finger can get in to that corner. If you think about how a regular tablet or phone is designed, they don't (generally) have recessed displays, so you can just naturally, without thinking, place your finger on those corners where they need to go, and come at the corners more directly because you probably have the tablet in front of you instead of off to one side.
I've spent a couple of hours watching reviews on this unit before finding yours, and this has been the most useful - so thank you! One thing I'm still curious about is the phone connectivity. If my phone is paired via Bluetooth and I get a call, does an answer/decline button appear on screen? I assume it does but wanted to check.
Yes, you'll get a popup that runs across the top quarter of the display, with incoming number or contact name, and a answer/decline button. If you use your phone to place a call while paired, you'll also get that window.
@@Croak1. Appreciate the reply dude! I bought the Atoto A6 pro based on your review, I'm very happy with it! I have one niggle which I can't figure out a work around for, and wondered if you had come across it too and found a work around. When I make or receive a phone call, I get a banner across the top of the screen showing the call ID plus hang up button etc. It is overlaid on top of what ever app is open. I still want to use the Atoto to manage my calls but would really like to find a way around this. I can't find any Atoto forums either.
That was a feature on the previous model as well, and as far as I know, it can't be disabled. I generally use Waze for my satnav app, and the next turn (and alerts) are lower down and on the left so the phone bar doesn't obstruct them.
