that is like THE jazz guitar tone
too much metheny
@@miguelcastano3210 just enough metheny
have you heard a stimer on a selmer? 😻
Kreisberg’s tone has that ideal mix of reverberation and punchy crispness that makes me think of a marble hitting a bathroom floor.
I love how happy and excited Jonathan looks while he's playing :)
This is almost too beautiful music to exist. Like a dream.
Jonathan - Time to reform this band and give them a new set of tunes to play! For some reason this group of musicians just worked so well together. Great rhythm section. Great soloists who compliment each other. Ever since COVID, a quintet seems like a big band. I miss quintets and larger bands. I'd like a break from solos, duets and trios...
agreed :)
He has the greatest taste of any guitarist out there.
I wouldn't go that far, there are so many wonderful guitarplayers on the scene these days. But he is one of the best improvisers and writes wonderful music!
Absolutely fantastic. I wish Jonathan recorded more. 👏👏👏
I am a long time jazz lover, especially the guitar in the hands of great musicians like Jonathan. He reminds me of a past guitar god, Barney Kessel, with his use of chords as melody and his long and interesting lines of improvisation. To me this is a great compliment.
There should be more young people there. If the jam band scene got introduced to this music these guys would be playing festivals with a whole new audience. They could be right up there with medeski and then they would get the recognition they deserve. It's kind of strange, but the jam crowd is the only crowd that really embraces improv, very similar to the beat poets and bebop. Think just how awesome it would be if ari hoenig's punk bop performed green spleen for thousands of people.
I’m here:)
I absolutely love this group performance. The pianist was excellent. Reminds me of the late great Lyle Mays. I will listen to this post several times. 👏
Nothing wrong with effects! Especially when used like that.. so creative.
man, the jazz baltica videos are the greatest (best sound by far)
I just want to say...whoever did the camera work and directed this live video production is awesome.
Gary's soloing absolutely moves me, so beautiful...
Incredible guitarist, he has a great fantasy and creativity, his lines are elegant and modern just like his sound, a few effects but so creamy and surprisingly light.
great artist!!!
very true! :)
impressive!! gorgeous writing and playing, the solos are very inspiring,
It's very nice seeing a musician enjoy himself as much as Kreisberg does while playing.
Kreisberg blows us away every time he hits the stage. Brilliant group, too! I had the immense pleasure of one taking in one of Versace's live performances a few years back in Portland, Maine. Kreisberg needs to come to Maine.
I want to live in a world where videos like this get over a million views instead of a pitiful 66 thousand. Why can't more people enjoy and appreciate this kind of introspective music?
Yesss Sr!
because majority of people are not really interested in music...they just listens to what is being fed to them through radio and what not :- )
For me the music is a skin of society, most people are sick and consume garbage on a large scale...
Alot of people have never heard of him and the word jazz stop those that have never really listened to complexities and virtuosity of the artist . What they need to do is see if the artist is well rounded and can play anything. Also how jazz is a civilized form of art .In another words makes you think. Not much of that going on today.
I know this is very late, but why not just let people enjoy what they enjoy? There’s nothing wrong with liking pop music, and there’s nothing wrong with disliking jazz like this.
AWESOME JONATHAN YOUR ONE OF MY GUITAR HEROES AND A VERY SUPER KOOL FRIEND> PEACE
That piano solo is funking amazing. I'm so impressed. Kinda life changing. Has every elements I hope for in my solo.
one of the most beautiful jazz compositions to come down the pike in a long time, capped off by Kriesberg's masterful guitar. Lovely!!!!
I've been listening to JK on a streaming audio-only service. His reach goes far beyond what he is doing here. Every tune I hear JK play is a guitar lesson.
Stunning chromatic genius he is a wonderful connector........still 13 years later Jonathan a maestro
I feel much smarter after listening to this piece ..
As someone who thinks in terms of jazz improvisation, I can say with high confidence that you didn't get smarter. But you got more insightful, and possibly capable of reflecting over things you previously had not permitted yourself to consider. Or something like that...
Music never did me any favour in the mental department, though.
first of all, a friend just mentioned JK to me, and this is the first music I've heard/seen by him, and it is simply wonderful. second, i sure wish i had youtube when i was a kid - i would know so much more about guitar by now! thanks for posting this!
Killer song, killer band, wonderful gig as a whole!!
Éééé, Jonathan e Will...o Gary é fantástico!!! Tenho que estudar...
Such a great song! Still can't believe Jonathan is alternate picking those triplet arpeggios with so much ease.
I swear this is better than the studio version.
100% agree, every single one of the songs on youtube from this particular concert is that way!!!!
Opeth!!!
@@Thrasher5251 thats random, but yes.
Sweet jazzy grooves
What a great tune. I think I've been there.
Maravilloso!!!!
Wonderful thanks for post
Great!
Wow,makes me happy!
Man, I dig this tune and playing! a lot!!!
very beautiful.
Fantastic stuff.
this is really good!
Seen him live yesterday for the first time. Mind blown.
The best in contemporary jazz!
Great tune, great solos
That piano solo made my day!
Great tune Jonathan...I always enjoy listening to it!
C.G.T. Ukiah,CA
beautiful composition
I'm seeing John tonight with Orlando le Fleming and Ari Hoeneg and I can't wait. These videos are incredible, the arrangements sound exactly like they do on the album (except for the solos, of course!). The cinematography is choice. Whoever gave the green light on filming these deserves a shot and a beer.
that's really good Sir. respect.
Fantastic composition and playing. I love it!
C. G. T. Ukiah, CA
He is the best!
Sehr-sehr gut, respekt!
its great
YES finally a pro video audio!
Grande!
i am in love with him lol
tosin abasi sent me here
It makes me happy that he's turning so many aspiring guitarists' attentions towards the music of Kreisberg and Rosenwinkel. Without a doubt some of the most harmonically intelligent music currently being created on this planet...
Robin Payne Couldn't agree more!
Robin Payne Don't forget Adam Rogers, too!
escherband I absolutely love adam rogers' playing...he's very elastic sometimes it's like he's playing a goddamn squeezebox
Tim Miller!
wow!
Wow!
How can i replicate jonathan’s guitar tone? Its perfect
Great! I just missed the sax solo.
Music high...really digging jon's music hard right now :)
EXCELLENT JAZZ
¡FELICITACIONES DESDE MÉXICO!
Wow Jonathan is my hero. And he knows his jazz-faces ;-)
Yessssss
so agree with you!
Great guitarist and band, the latest jazz is very interesting, it is a lot less experimental and with a great evolution of sound and harmony. Wish to see him life!
Boy, Gary really gets to the bones and then soars.
I am so glad I clicked on the RUclips list thing
very good musician wish i could play like that haha
He reminds me of Pat...really great artist!
dope
monstroooooooooo
5/4 to 5/8. So delicious at this tempo.
Because there are not a lot of people who are introspective
It scares some people to look deeper into themselves
There might be nothing there
At 1st I couldn't feel the timing...thanks for the input...sensed that a little 5/4 was in there...still trying to get it...
🙂💙
where can I buy this DVD , I can't find this on amazon. Please help me guys. I really love him.
yes!
i couldn't put it together better. and i think - oddly enough - the way he plays matches even better to ballads
@DreamTheaterisGod1 yeah, its always like that. I think its really intresting to "know" whats going on in a tune. Sometimes there isnt a clear/exact answer I guess. Best, Sandemose
I can't get enough of his tone! Does anyone know what kind of pickups he uses?
D'Andrea
can someone figure out what he is doing around 3:20 , i can't tell!
What is the best scale to use for jazz guitar improvisation? Is there a specific scale or set of scales he (the guitarist) is using here?
does anyone kwons the guitar solo chords?
@twinkietime103 To be fair jazz WAS mainstream in the big band era of the 1930s. Tin pan alley songs (or standards) are the base of any jazz musicians' repertoire and were the modern day equivalent of pop tunes.
Kriesberg is one of the best guitarist in these times! Great song! Any knows the chords for the part that starts 00.26? :)
Cmaj7 -> Em7 -> F#m7 -> Gmaj7
Oh! Ryan Gosling plays guitar!? Awesome!
@iphonehacker333 he uses Borgani with Selmer SS
does anyone know what time signiture this is in? 7/4?
Title of this should be : Bring back the lady Queen
@y34r Ive seen a chart which says 5/4 which seems quite possible to be accurate. Best, Sandemose
what sax is he using ?
What is his solo's chord work? I wanna know.
me too
tema in 10/8?
From which Album this tune?
IdoTsehori South of everywhere same title as the song
@FreddyFreeds i'm sure its 10 ,but not sure its /4 or /8
@jonjacquemoud1 Thank you! I'll work on it :)
demasiado methenyano
is this 5/4 or 10/8?
Actually, it looks more like ;-O>
Oddly enough, that's why I like Martino. Generally, I think breathing is important but Martino is something of an anomaly. Somehow it's just not overbearing the way he does it.
