that is like THE jazz guitar tone

Kreisberg’s tone has that ideal mix of reverberation and punchy crispness that makes me think of a marble hitting a bathroom floor.

Jonathan - Time to reform this band and give them a new set of tunes to play! For some reason this group of musicians just worked so well together. Great rhythm section. Great soloists who compliment each other. Ever since COVID, a quintet seems like a big band. I miss quintets and larger bands. I'd like a break from solos, duets and trios...

I wouldn't go that far, there are so many wonderful guitarplayers on the scene these days. But he is one of the best improvisers and writes wonderful music!

I am a long time jazz lover, especially the guitar in the hands of great musicians like Jonathan. He reminds me of a past guitar god, Barney Kessel, with his use of chords as melody and his long and interesting lines of improvisation. To me this is a great compliment.

There should be more young people there. If the jam band scene got introduced to this music these guys would be playing festivals with a whole new audience. They could be right up there with medeski and then they would get the recognition they deserve. It's kind of strange, but the jam crowd is the only crowd that really embraces improv, very similar to the beat poets and bebop. Think just how awesome it would be if ari hoenig's punk bop performed green spleen for thousands of people.

Kreisberg blows us away every time he hits the stage. Brilliant group, too! I had the immense pleasure of one taking in one of Versace's live performances a few years back in Portland, Maine. Kreisberg needs to come to Maine.

Alot of people have never heard of him and the word jazz stop those that have never really listened to complexities and virtuosity of the artist . What they need to do is see if the artist is well rounded and can play anything. Also how jazz is a civilized form of art .In another words makes you think. Not much of that going on today.

As someone who thinks in terms of jazz improvisation, I can say with high confidence that you didn't get smarter. But you got more insightful, and possibly capable of reflecting over things you previously had not permitted yourself to consider. Or something like that...
Music never did me any favour in the mental department, though.

@twinkietime103 To be fair jazz WAS mainstream in the big band era of the 1930s. Tin pan alley songs (or standards) are the base of any jazz musicians' repertoire and were the modern day equivalent of pop tunes.
