9:31 I am not knocking the game or it's design at all here, I'm just noting something of interest to me. I wonder how this particular mech manages to not topple over every time it steps. It has a slow and wide gait. If going slow, a biped needs to put it's weight over the single foot on the ground. Alternatively one could "waddle" but that involves tossing ones center of gravity from side to side to maintain balance. With the way the mech at 9:30 I believe it's only option would be to take very very small steps as it accelerates. If it were going at a decent clip, inertia would lower the center of gravity balance tax to make the leg structure work a little better. I suppose that kinda plays into the idea that it's supposed to be slow though. And to clarify I have no problem with the animation as is. It looks cool and that's good enough. I'm just thinking about the physics that would be involved if this were reality. Which of course remains the major difficulty with mechs in general.

Oh! I would love to see how the Japanese mechs is going to look like in this universe
The second I saw this video I clicked. This was an amazing trilogy!
I may not agree with Rusvet current government or the possible government that could come about, but their mechs on the other hand greatly catch my interest. Not fast but heavy armor and heavy weapons all the while easy to build and maintain *happy gas mask noise*
Another thing I am trying to understand is how heavy armor AND heavy weapons combined into I guess heavy vehicles are reliable and easy to maintain. I feel like Stalinium at work, no less.
@@barsni4779 *Tsarinium
@@barsni4779 I think they were going for the ideas that made the Kalashnikov and the T-34 so successful in our universe. Something simple, tough, and easily cranked out on a production line.
@@charlesborden8111 I guess. The whole lore is based on real life ideas, but often mixing them up even when they contradict each other or even common sense. They have giant walking mechs with chicken legs though.
@@barsni4779 Praise Baba Yaga!😂
Wait, in this time line the Shogun controls Japan!!!! Must see where this goes.
No Meïji Restoration since there was never a US to send Commodore Perry to force the shogunate to open the country. Makes sense
Spotted both a TIGUR! and a Bear.
I'm intrigued already.
They are the Animal Companions of the Rusviet hero and Polanian Hero respectively.
Wow! Is Rasputin _chill_ in this universe?
Rasputin was pretty chill with the tsars wife. Wink wink 👀

I love 1920+ and your expansion on it, Templin. I really hope that we see a canonical mention or explanation of the United States of...Vineland? Columbia? Also the Gauls (French) and Albion (British) need expanding!
Federal Union of Usonia
You know that losses are high, if the russians run out of man ^^
I like the way one of the Saxon mechs is like they sorta put a French looking tank on some legs for epic CENTRE OF MASS.
So... whole bit about Rusviet mech design at 8:42 is what Russian tank design was in WWII. Yet another historical inclusion in the lore. I approve.
This has probably been the most insightful of these videos.
"with a sword, by the sword shall perish" that reminds me of the GTU statue of mourning episode
Now I feel better.
It was almost a week after this video was uploaded before I could watch this video. As I scrolled through the comments, I couldn't believe that no one recognized the words from the statue in Jakarta.
Good to see I am not the only proud Terran here.
Gloria in Excelsis Terra
Long Live the Greater Terran Union
Rusviet Space Marines xD
Wait what? Alaska is part of Rusviet?
"Always has been-"
Sorry, couldn't resist. Keep in mind, the US purchased Alaska from the Russians in our timeline. I guess in this one, they just didn't want to sell?
@@Archris17 I think it's because they lost "The January Uprising" and released Poland selling another land could be considered as a sign of weakness and inability to govern themselves
@@Senior_Fluffy US is perhaps ruled by native Americans, since Britain is Scottish.
If they do still have Alaska, that would mean they controlled it during the Klondike gold rush. How might that have affected their financial solvency in the 20th century?
I like your videos. They are always interesting
Rusviet Rebel: "We will kill the Tsar! We will kill the nobles! and we will make the first Great COMMUNIST-"
*Liberty Prime Glares Intently Across the Pacific*
Rusviet Rebel: ".....Change the Flag to a Red Star!"
"rather than produce mech intended to never break to break down, rusviyet mech are easy to repair and cheaply produce"
This sounds familiar
It worked in WW2
Those who come to us with a sword, by the sword, shall perish. Only OG Templin Institute watchers knows that reference. Or people who marathoned their videos since, lets face it, its not like we have something better to do.
🎵there lived a certain man in rusviet long ago🎵
🎵he has big and strong in his eyes a flaming glow🎵
I love it how the Captions say Stardom instead of Tsardom
12:54 "the rule of the strong"
yes, that is a very "strong" person, indeed
I wonder if theyre ever going to release these other nations like Albion and the Togawas that they keep cheekily teasing
Just started reading comments again and the fact people think the Tsardom is communist just because it has "-viet" in its name is funny to me. They don't become communist until the Revolution DLC lol.
Templin: The Tzar, Nikolaj
Boyle: Nikolaj
You know what's awesome? Studying Russian history. It's wild, man.
Note how they say the lands “have known caesars”
This video is like "there are some misconceptions" then "autocracy! rule of the strong!", then more or less stabile, makes you think it's alright, then "immense manpower!".
Alaska being Russian implies that things in North America are different, I know 1920+ is more about Eastern Europe but I’m very interested in what’s going on with American powers at this point
With the usonia dlc we will hopefully learn more
Could you do how to create the perfect Superhero/Villain because I’m creating a Superhero universe and I need some tips
Gotta admit these videos have me mighty interested in this game.
Ra-Ra-Rasputin, crazy Rusviet love machine
“Said to be the most trusted advisor to the Tsar and his wife” oh we all know the ways Rasputin “advised” the Tsar’s wife.
A century later a similar war would be fought between the Rusviet Union and the Europan Commonwealth when Rusviet invaded the Crimean Free State
"Distant" Albion... Oh my oh my, was that a flying battleship I spied?
will the templin institute speak about the other factions that dind't make it into the game, the shogunate the nordic kingdoms albion etc... (I would really like to see something like faction dlc with campaign)
5:53 Where can I find a link to that art? I need that as a wallpaper.
Search it in Google.
Hey tmeplin: here’s something that I wonder listening to iron harvest lore: were or what is America in this universe?
Maybe the Confederates won the civil war.
They're kinda chilling over on the other side of the pond, but there was talk of a second civil war.
Theyve been on the sidelines mostly.
Solo basically their mech approach are our universe Soviet approach on small arms, notably Soviet AK- pattern rifles.
Long live the tzar
Please do a video on Wellington Wells from We Happy Few
I know many people are pointing out elements of monarcho-socialism, but what I got was more social democracy with paltry symbolic concessions to the more radical left. Still a monarchy, an aristocracy that has somewhat maintained its power, liberal, conservative, and even hard right factions in the Duma? It’s suggests a veneer of socialism, a simply paint job, with little to nothing underneath the surface, but even these concessions would be the greatest humiliation of the Romanov dynasty
Dear Templin Institute, can you do a lore video about They are Billions?
I don't know what I've stumbled upon but I'm very interested 🤯
8:43 “Their Saxon, Polanian or Nordic counterparts”
I haven’t played this game but does this mean there’s a Chance new Nations May be added in the future beyond our current 3?
The scythe board game based on the same 1920+ world have 2 more factions
I don't know why, but in every alternate Universe involving Tsar Nikolas II, I wish he never got killed brutally by the Commies. Fingers crossed this doesn't happen in Iron Harvest
IN THE NAME OF THE TSAR!
Seems like the Tsar got on the rapid modernization kick too.
Great setting,
But whoever decided 'Rusviet' was a clever name needs a slap in the mouth
That would be Jakub.
Rusviet? Sounds like Рассвет
Actually it is in some way clever - "rus"+"svet", and "svet" is not only "the light" but also "the world" in old russian
LargenirGK so basically, it’s “The World of the Rus”
Personally I think it's a great name for a great people!🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺🇷🇺
I like how in Iron Harvest after the great war tanks weren’t the hot shit but mechs
2:54 That's Wawel Castle, Polania
I wonder what Britain, America, France, Japan and China are like in this world. I'll definitely be picking up Iron Harvest soon!
I do know that Japan's form in 1920+ is a a Shogunate, don't know about America or France tho, but America most likely exists because there's a British counterpart
Dr. Thrax game has Americans in the Russian campaign however the lore says America doesn’t exist? It’s going to be weird if they do add the Americans
@@eliatzarortiz8048 Maybe an analog for the Americans?
So wait, they use a Red Star instead of an Imperial emblem as a concession to radicals in the nation? Is that actual canon? Because I remember that being a detail that bothered one of the guys on this channel.
Nice to hear about the Nordic Kings, the Shogunate and Albion. Some of these factions are mentioned or show up in other 1920+ products IIRC. There is one faction that does not show up that puzzles me though. No France. I can easily see the USA (if it even exists) not showing, and maybe Italy. But France was a big player. sm
@The Templin Institute i imagine the rank-up problem you had the other day was directly related to your game crash and i suspect the game saves your rank to the local machine rather than a server.
12:23 Is that an Albion skyship?
I would LOVE to know what the rest of the world is doing during the events of this timeline.
This is a certified Mladorossi moment
Stalin was right. Quantity has a quality all its own, but only when used properly can it bring victory.
Which of course remains the major difficulty with mechs in general.
this game has excelent knowladge about early 20th century Russian politics which is very cool. a lot of games go with the stereotypes.
I'd like to hear about the us and British positions in the great war
I don't think they feature.
