Can't say that I've ever experienced a car worse than this one, but heck is it something else! I can't help but love a piece of garbage such as this 'Cuda that sat in a ravine for decades before being revived for drag racing. Think we can make it race once more? Stick around to the end of the video to find out!

First off, I laughed way harder than I should have at the gas tank falling out on you and dumping nasty gas everywhere (been there). 2nd you have a winner there with your wife Mr. McCool. I don't think many women would be that happy about their husband's bringing home something in that state. She should definitely be a regular feature on the channel 👌

I love the “what does my wife think” segment. As someone who is married to the opposite of a car person…she has said very little to discourage me about my car collection, including my current restoration sitting in the driveway…flat tires and all. Not to mention the metal recycle pile that grows and shrinks over and over as I do work and make runs to the recycling center, lol. You have to truly appreciate the patience and tolerance of what must seem like insanity that our significant others afford us. She has flat out told me she doesn’t understand why my old ‘ran down’ truck is worth so much, and why don’t I just sell it and just buy a newer one that works if it’s worth as much as it is.

As a 1959 model new, my body is starting to resemble this Barely-Cuda. I had a 1972 Barracuda I bought with 60 thousand miles in 1978, when I was 19 and for $1200. It was just starting to rust, with a 318 2-barrel and a 3 speed manual transmission. I sold it in 1980 to buy a motorcycle and a $200 car, so I could save on gas and insurance 6 months every year while going to college. The best part was the looks, after new paint and new carpet. The worst part was the front suspension, I think it needed a new front axle and wheel bearing since the one front wheel never balanced, and the torsion rods instead of springs was just dumb. It did cost less than a similar Camaro back then, likely more now.

    A couple of name ideas:
Barely-cuda - 'nuff said 'bout that.
But, given its heritage, I suggest it is a new species - a Wadi Cuda!
Wadi Cuda - Sphyraena Desertum, commonly known as the Wadi Barracuda, is a species of barracuda that inhabits the desert washes of the Southwest United States. They have a misshapen body and are faded blue, mottled grey, dark rust and dirty brown in color, with protruding metal bits and containing many sharp, ancient or tentative parts of unequal size. Never found in schools (or workplaces or home driveways), they can be found in non-visible habitats such as behind scraggly groves of trees, wastelands, and abandoned barns. They can be considered dangerous predators in proximity, given that almost nothing takes them seriously, and can immobilize their prey, causing fits of uncontollable laughter and bouts of severe underestimation of capabilities. Somewhat unhealthy, given their tendency for non-stop smoking.

I have one in my truck and love it, also have a friend who had one in a 440 6pack roadrunner making approximately 500hp that he drag raced for years at Cecil County Maryland. He broke an 8 3/4 rear and destroyed a driveshaft but never had an issue with the clutch.

Constructive feedback... The Rode Wireless Go II is a handy wireless microphone system. It is kind of distracting to have one mic on one speaker and one mic on the other. If you don't want to make it mono in post, I believe there is an option you can set in the phone app that will have it output a mono mix to your camera, so you don't have that issue. They have the stereo option so that you can adjust each channel in post as needed to level the volume, but it is nicer to listen to if you make it mono in post if you are using this mode.

4:40 Oh Dear, that poor sweet girl lol but the plus side is with how rare a cuda is, and how they didnt change the sheetmetal that much if at all in its 4 year run, all the parts are avalable, it could actually be restored but it would truly be the ship of thesius, on the flipside however, if you go that route I would ask what her favorite color combo is, and what she wants on a car
could be a good way to show your love for her.

Your Wife has a great sense of humor! I applaud her bravery in being on camera. My Wife does NOT typically want to be filmed.

My name idea for the car is: "Bautismo del Arroyo"(Baptism of the Arroyo). Kind of a play on the words "Baptism by fire", but since you said it was in a wash or an "arroyo" as we call them, it kind of feels a bit clever, if unoriginal. But, I think it's somewhat honorable, since the car was brought back to life after such hardships. Thrown down there to be drowned and washed away, only to be brought back to the road/track to live a new, if albeit, roughed up life.

It doesn't matter who or what, the main thing is you had an experience that not everybody can have. The burnout happened, but needed some more umph. I always like your videos and would like to see more of the cuda

a 600 carb on a big block - 750 at a minimum - 850 ideal for 6000 shift. a 600cfm is okay for a stock small block under 6000rpm - if your not careful you will end up burning a piston.
Being a stick, use a mechanical secondary 850, jet extensions for the rear bowl, jet it to the engine, set bowl level, if you let the fuel pressure get too high, it will push the needle down and flood the carb, if memory serves - somewhere around 8 1/2 psi, depending on compression and cam - 34 to 36 degrees total timing all in @2500, this by its self should put it in the 12s

Name for this car should be 'Bury-this-cuda'! I like the car and hope to see more content. Like what your wife had to say about it. LOL
