I thought I was the only one who avoided zips and envelope cushion covers. Always sew my pillows in as I figure if I ever have to take the cover off and wash them - it's not an onerous job to re-stitch. Great video. Thank you. Looks like a cording foot is essential to get a really great finish.
Thank you so much for this video! I made Christmas stockings that had cording on the edges and around the top and did not know how to do the cording seam. I was afraid to cut the fabric but I watched the video a few times and then sewed my cording seam. You saved the day, thanks again.
Thank you for a great tutorial, this is the best method I've seen for joining piping to give a lovely neat finish and you are great at explaining it! It's been a head scratcher for some time! Many thanks again for sharing your expertise.
I have just watched an amazing beginners tutorial . I have learnt so much in just under an hour. I find your teaching techniques are simply fantastic. You speak clearly calmly and interestingly. I cant thank you enough. Its a pleasure to watch and things that have baffled me and filled me with dread are now quite exciting. I so look forward to putting what i have learnt into practice and I feel encouraged to watch more and make more. Once again I thank you a million, will be sharing this with my friends too!
Excellent tutorial on this. I have been sewing for many many years and have always avoided cording. Now I don't know why. Going to watch your other videos also. Thank you
Infinitamente agradecida por poder aprender correctamente las técnicas de costura. Las explicaciones son muy claras y el trabajo salió perfecto. Estoy feliz por ello.
Beautiful job. Tks for great tutorial. Looks like an industrial sewing machine is best to tackle these projects. My elna is struggling through material thickness.
Hi, love your instructional video. On my pillow cover, I want to add the cording on both ends only. How do you hide the cording ends and still look good? Thank you for your response!
Next time when you make the video like this. I cannot see what you are doing with ending cord or piping with captions hover it. I have no control with google or RUclips so next time make sure move your work up in middle of the video. This instruction video is great. I had to watch four time with no caption and caption on back and forth to understand what you are trying to show it. Big thanks!!! ❤
Great tutorial. I have a question: how do you wash the pillow? Can you wash it with the foam inside? Because this has no zippers and is it not an envelope pillow. Thanks!
Most designer fabrics can't be washed anyway, so I don't usually put zippers in them. You can't wash this type of pillow made this way. Don't wash with the insert inside. You will need to find a different tutorial for a pillow cover that is washable.
You could simply take out your handstitching, remove the pillowform and have the pillow cover dry cleaned. I have done this many times and then just reverse the process!👍 Thank you for the great tutorial!
Whether to have a zipper or not in a pillow is a personal preference. Here is one of my pillow tutorials that does include a zipper. ruclips.net/video/GlI7YIvBmpU/видео.html

Thanks for watching! A cording foot is very helpful, but a zipper foot is another way to go.

Are you able to sew piping/cording by hand on a pillow??
You could, but it would take a long time to sew the cording and then sew it to the pillow fabric. Thanks for watching!
