  • The Pacifica is the final vehicle that is built by Chrysler. On the outside of the Pinnacle you will discover unique wheels, chrome bit and a raised roof rails. On the inside you will be greeted by a Napa leather interior, 10.25in infotainment screen and fam cam. Powering the Pacifica is a V6 plug-in hyrbid mated to a CVT. Is the 2024 Chrysler Pacifica a BETTER family vehicle than a Chevy Suburban?

The ONLY reason we don’t see a million vans around instead of these monster suvs is pride. People worry about what others think more than what would be the most practical for their family, especially with three or more kids. Minivans hands down beat suvs in every way except going off road and towing.

While I agree image plays a role, other big factors include options and AWD. There are only 4 minivan options to choose from in the US. Odyssey, sienna, carnival, and Pacifica/Voyager. There are endless upon endless Suv/crossover options. Also only 2 minivans have AWD. When you don't have much to choose from, sales suffer

Sorry I disagree. Had Toyota minivan Sienna and had to give it up after 6months due to highly uncomfortable driver and passenger seat. However, currently have 23 Suburban and had road trip Dallas to Denver back and forth with quite comfy rides. I guess it’s different for everyone.

I rented one of these for my family vacation last year, and just rented one on a business trip (traveling with 2 other people). I have to be honest and say that this is one of the ultimate road tripping vehicles. So easy to get in/out of - plenty of storage space - plenty of seating and interior room for passengers - drives and maneuvers so easy. It's not the sexiest vehicle out there, but if you're taking any long car trips, you just can't beat this. When you have small kids or older parents with mobility issues, the Pacifica beats the full size trucks for getting in/out.

It depends on your usage needs with both vehicles. If you only value passenger and cargo space, get the Chrysler Pacifica. It will ride and handle better than the body-on-frame Chevrolet Suburban while offering similar passenger and cargo capacity.
However, you require being able to carry people, their stuff, and tow at the same time, get the Chevy Suburban. It’ll be able to do all of that while also offering increased payload and towing capacity compared to the minivan.
Both vehicles are superbly versatile and practical, it just depends on what your needs are when buying a minivan or large SUV.

My dad and mom took my family of four on many vacations. He never understood the power of the rental minivan. He would rent a Tahoe or similar full size SUV thinking we would have more room for six people and luggage. On at least three vacations we had to request a minivan to replace the fullsize SUV because there was more room in the minivan lol.

When he send we got an Explorer, I felt like saying WTF. 4 adults and two young kids crammed in that thing with luggage. When we went this last summer we got a minivan and it was a thousand times better. And who cares what people think. Drive what you like but I will take a minivan over a three row SUV when it comes to ease of use and moving people and things.

Just like the "good old days" of American vehicles from the late-60's through the mid-90's, giant fuel gauges were the norm. Especially the big gas-guzzling landyachts and trucks from GM.
Every GMC truck my dad owned from '69-'86 had a big fuel gauge. Full instrumentation, but no tachometer......and even that wasn't standard equipment back then. They certainly looked better than those giant warning lights that were standard. In fact, it wasn't until he bought his 2000 GMC Sierra that it came with a factory tachometer, only because it was all standard by then.

If people get over the mini van stigma, they would be surprised how comfortable and versatile the Chrysler Pacifica is. They ride beautifully, are very luxurious and for a van its very attractive. Fun fact: the sliding door track hidden in the window trim was a Chrysler design first no one else had. Its been a signature on all their mini vans.

At some point it'll be time for a new one, so I'll more than likely go for a Pacifica Limited with the AWD option, unless they can figure out how to do the hybrid with 2nd row stow-n-go and AWD (yep, I don't want much). Thanks for the great review. Maybe do a review of an AWD model in the winter so those of us who live in the snowbelt can see how it works in the snow (important when you have hockey and basketball games in the back of beyond and they don't plow much).

Especially seeing a new van with that looked very much from the 2020s instead of an old one that’s over a decade old.
My mom had a 2002 Dodge Caravan while I was growing up and then got a 2007 Honda Odyssey. I still remember being a kid and remember how new it felt, I can still remember the smell of it when it was new. She then got a newer Honda Odyssey in 2015 (both my parents and i did many road trips in) and then in 2018 she switched to the crossover trend. It’s nice to see Chrysler is still going strong with the Pacifica 🤷‍♂️

Interesting comparison, but I get why you did. People feel like they need those giant SUVs if they have a bunch of kids, but in actuality, unless you need the ground clearance or you need to pull a trailer, why would you? I've had an Expedition and a Yukon XL, and I'd take a minivan any day. They are much more fuel efficient, easier to get in and out of, easier to park, and many times have more features. The Sienna and the Pacifica Limited do come with an AWD option. I've heard both perform well in the snow. I'd skip the Pinnacle and get the regular gas version so you could have that Stow and Go option which enables you to turn your car into a truck bed with those seats completely flat. The price of those giant SUVs is insane --- most of them are around $100,000. That is stupidity, between the constant gas and rapid depreciation. Been there, done that. Save the money, swallow your pride, and get the minivan if you really need the space.

I’m an executive warranty claims administrator, and the issue with Chrysler isn’t its engines or transmissions. What costs the warranty companies thousands is the poor long term engineering in everything else. Chrysler beancounters notoriously choose cheap electronics and bid parts to the most economical price possible whereas Toyota exclusively uses Denso. When there’s a problem, it’d be a massive loss for Denso to lose that exclusivity.

Showed up today and all they had was a brand new Pacifica Limited.
They kept me at the $24 daily rate and I get to keep it for the next ten days. 😂😂😂

Um, Chrysler came later with the Town & Country, which lasted until 2016. The OG Pacifica was a totally different vehicle that launched in 2003, then Chrysler took the name and applied it to the new series of minivans in 2017.
You are correct it's the last one standing among Chrysler brands, but the Pacifica has not been a nameplate since the 80s.
A few things you might want to be clear on: Chrysler lists 20" wheels as standard on the ICE Pinnacle trim. Your model, the hybrid, has 18s for fuel efficiency.
The chrome around the fog lights is on pretty much every trim of Pacifica as is the chrome trim around the side windows running the length of the vehicle.
The interior is primarily what sets the Pinnacle apart from the Limited other than the wheels.

I bought a minivan in 2005. I loved it. This one is a lot nicer though. Everything is perfect except for the hood prop. I hate them. Also, there is no USB on the driver side. Imagine listening to kids fighting over the USB all day on long trips.

Without the climate controls on, I’m getting 40 miles on EV. With climate controls, I’m getting the EPA 32 miles.
So when I drive by myself, I get 40 but with the family 32. The Pacifica hybrid is an incredibly efficient and easy to drive van that other vans simply couldn’t touch.
