  • The ZMan 2.5" Slim SwimZ has been a revolution in small paddle tail plastics and a plastic that has allowed a lot of anglers to catch their first fish on plastics or increase their current numbers and species mix. Tackle Tactics Pro Angler Justin Willmer gives us a run through on one of his favourite plastics and how he rigs and fishes it for a variety of species. Fish on!

@P8intballEvans, Buckle up! Nice work on the big bass and cool to hear the little Slim SwimZ is getting the bites. All the best with the fishing. Cheers, Justin

Is there a DRASTIC difference in catch rate between 3" and 2.5"???

Gday TT, that pink colour works great in the 3 inch minnow, I caught 34 flathead on my first one before I retired it and have you tried the ecogear zx40 yet?, my god its good, I may never use another plastic except for shallow water, I added another little hook to the zx40 after getting heaps of hits but not hooking up and it solved it, took 13 flathead and 2 bream yesterday with it..

Silly question I'm sure but what size Headlock should I be looking at to use with these?

Hey @spacejumanji5266, I like to run a 1/0 HeadlockZ Finesse or a 1 in the HeadlockZ HD, in a weight to suit the depth, current, target species and the casting distance required. A good starting point is 1/8oz for the shallows and 1/4oz for edges and drop offs. All the best with the fishing. Cheers, Justin

I tried soft plastics for first time - tried some curly tail then gave this a go bang large brim followed by an 80cm flathead. Only downside is I've noticed with the clearer ones the plastic turns Green after they have been used? Around where the headlock jighead was. Specifically the Bad Shad. Opening night doesn't do it. Not sure if I should therefore be throwing them a way after one use.

      😂 No.
      Just keep using.
The colour is only relevant to fishermen.
      Not the fish.
