Get back the Olympics for the arts. Imagine Tom Daley on his channel saying: “So, I just saw the Olympic poetry challenge and I have notes on Jack Edwards’s form and style.”
Fun fact: the first ever golden olympic medal won by representant of Poland was a literature medal, won by Kazimierz Wierzyński in 1928. During this year's Olympics we won our 300th summer olympics medal (in fencing).
Another funfact about this: Monaco so far has only ever won a single medal in their olympic history and that was a bronze medal for architecture, which then later didnt even count anymore. RIP Monaco
Isay we bring this back because I now really want an Olympic poetry medal. If the Olympics won't we can form our own organisation. Like, the Olyric games maybe?
This video was simply Iconic!!! One of the best one lately for sure!! I admire so much how you managed to make such informational videos filled with pop culture references, puns and satire…. It’s always a joy watching you!!
Hi Jack! I've always wanted to pursue my dream of creating book reviews, and now, thanks to the inspiration your channel has given me, have taken the first step and uploaded a video.
I really have to say thank you. I follow you on all ove my 3 RUclips acc. Books and you have been on my side for many years of course you do not know me but please have in mind how much you do for people. My life is not the prettiest but you helped me to keep hope up. You are genuine kind and honest and that I love. I would love you to make a podcast talking about books and bookish themes.Seriously thank you Jack I will always keep you in Prayerb and alhamdulilah that there are passionated people like you. Keep up the work and the Spirit. I cant quiet caputare the words but just thank you for being human in an inhumane world.
Would you consider doing book analysis videos? Like deep dives on some of the books you studied for your degree or books that you've read now that you can do a deep dive on? I feel like you would be good at that :)
I did know that, because earlier this year I read a couple of books on the great artist Mary Blair. Turns out her husband had participated and won an Olympic art medal. Maybe that helped him get a top job at Disney animation, which led to Mary's getting hired, and the rest is history! And yes, I'm using up a lot of potential reading hours right now watching Olympics stuff. I loved how the opening ceremony featured every famous thing about Paris, including their arts, including books! Love the Keenan and Kevin show too.
The grading in Ancient Greens was possible because art wasnt subjective at all. Art was an occupation same as for example woodworking. It wasn’t actually deemed to be that hard being an artist, they were kinda low regarded in the society, whereas now it’s completely opposite. That’s why now we can’t have it in the olympics.
I really want to hear your thoughts on the book, The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah. It's my favorite book and I would like to see if you like it as well or not.
They should make competitive reading an Olympic sport. Give competitors a short story prepared for the event, and rank them on the speed it took them to read and the percentage of answers they get right on a quiz about the book.
ok jack or anybody reading this, i have a question. is a wheel of time worth reading? ive never read fantasy except harry potter and idk if i should start a 14 book series. i was recently gifted book 5 of this series accidentally instead of book one and it keeps bugging me lol.
Book babes, I need y’all’s help. Does anyone know what colour the spine of Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth is (UK)? I have a mini collection of physical books (kindle girlie) and I legit have a perfect rainbow besides orange, so wanna get it and read it physically to get that orange book lol. PLEASE HELP ME 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Does any of you know how to contact Jack? I tried sending him an email, but he did not reply. I wrote a poetry collection and would like to send it to him. Thanks for your help
I'm just wondering, but my book's going coming out next year, but does this guy do paid book reviews? I don't want to email and potentially bother him if he doesn't.
I'm sure he'd love to receive books from new authors, I'm pretty sure he has mentioned it is the past. Not sure about paid though, I'd think it would be more like you send him a book and he decides himself when to read it and whether to even review it, with no conditions attached to the contents of the review to keep it fair.
This comment has nothing to do with the video. I'm so sorry but the situation is extremely desperate. I'm from Bangladesh where right now students and ordinary citizens are being killed left and right by our tyrannical government. We are in desperate need of assistance especially because the government here keeps shutting down our internet and turning off our communication with the outside world. In this present situation, we are unable to reach out for help or speak out about all the ways in which we are being tortured and oppressed. Please please please help if you can. We don't need money or donations. Please just talk about the issue so that we can get more attention from international media.
Favorite way to describe Paris ever: “the set of the hit movie Ratatouille”😭😭😭😭😭😭
I mean hes got a lit degree

Jack really stuck the landing on some of his jokes. 😃
Daley would surely win the gold medal for Olympic knitting 😂
Bro your everywhere
@@Jane-m2z Hello
I can imagine tom winning 2 medals, one for diving and another for crochet
A rare channel where I'll even willingly click on a video that has the word sport in the title

I once won third in a classical poetry translation contest. first and second were left vacant. very mixed feelings
That's such a strange and deliberately baffling thing to do 😮
Not the ratatouille reference 😭 also me, an Australian, lying in my Paddington pjs
i have one very very important question for you: where can i get paddington pjs????????????????????
@@IndieJones-fw6kh i got mine from Myer!
its kinda crazy how nobody is talking about the forbidden eBook Magnetic Aura from Borlest
why have i never thought about olympics for the arts!!! ???? that would be incredible!
!!!!
JACKKKKK THE UPLOAD SCHEDULE HAS BEEN GOING CRAZYYY
Jack dropping videos here and there on a daily. Let’s go!
Isay we bring this back because I now really want an Olympic poetry medal. If the Olympics won't we can form our own organisation. Like, the Olyric games maybe?
Jack B Yeats, WB’s brother, submitted paintings to the Olympics !! a lot of them are on view in museums still :)
This video was simply Iconic!!! One of the best one lately for sure!! I admire so much how you managed to make such informational videos filled with pop culture references, puns and satire…. It’s always a joy watching you!!
Well one thing is for sure. Tom Daley would win gold in knitting every time.
When Jack said hyperfixation, he really did that deepdive, love it and thanks for sharing - big fan of learning from others' hyperfixations/deepdives
Tea on literary scandals is a genre of Jack content I am 1000% on board for 🙌
“I am a Jack of none”
D I E D
I love how you always find such interesting topics to talk about ❤

Given the barrage of events this year, it’s so easy to write Olympic level poetry especially on Twitter. So many topics to choose from.
Love how they included the rats in the Opening ceremony this year. Truly showing what
Paris really is 😍🐀🇫🇷💕
nah no way this video flopped that hard that's crazy💀
They should bring this back 😢
Ur voice sounds exactly like Tom Daley
We have the Eisteddfod in Wales which is very similar to this! 😂
There is the mod in Scotland which is similar too!
thought you'd mention about the athlete who lost his wedding/engagement this year and wrote a poetic paragraph about it on his ig page😭

not curling in the summer olympics lol

Well done on this short and sweet video essay! 🎉
Please read four seasons in Japan. This book has me crying, laughing, dying, peeing rn
Thank you Jack I learned something new today
John Keats and Emily Dickinson would definitely be up there
no because what if the poetry being done just doesnt translate well??? how can you even judge it across all languages like that??
we need a kindle video 🙏🏼
This was so interesting and I learned that the Olympics had more than just sports. Now I wish they would bring it back!
Love this video!❤
Poetry dedicated to sports...a challenge MADE for Hanif Abdurraqib

The icon Jack Edwards posts❤
Still waiting for your "READING EVERY BOOK THAT MATILDA READ" video! ;p (both in movie & the book)
Let's kick soccer out of the Olympics (they already get enough attention) and bring back poetry
I’ll sign the petition! 😂
@@AdamGaryPoetry nice now we're two already 😂

And of course the interpretive portion of the program.
I remember the golden age of Arabic empire which had Olympics for poetry
This is your friendly reminder to reread the master and Margarita. Thank you :)
Somewhat unrelated to the video, but you should totally checkout The Vaster Wilds by Lauren Goff! The writing is beautiful.
so cool!
This has nothing to do with the video but you should make another dark academia video
I’m both a college athlete and a writer but I couldn’t make it to the Olympics for either 😂
Calling the rhyming verse from a poem written in 1924 "a little out of date" is WILD.
If i was a judge, Eye of the tiger would win no doubt in the music category
Art competitions are lost to time these days in the Olympics
In addition to Paralympic, prolitereit Olympics are going to be organized next time.
speaking of the nyt list, have you/will you read any elena ferrante, specifically the Neapolitan quartet?
“A deep dive,” but it’s only 13 minutes. C’mon now 😂
What a fun video this was. What is your favorite Olympic sport Jack?
Please read ‘the Great Alone’ by Kristin Hannah
'I am a jack of none' 😂😂😂
2nd video of asking will you pretty please read “Kardesimin Hikayesi” by Livaneli
For a geuine moment I seriously though there was a new Lana Del Rey album coming out
Paddington is Peruvian
This is so cool ❤😊❤
Please rate books that rory gilmore read
Have you ever read No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai?
Yeah cause if you did ill assume that you're probably not sane anymore
Imagine in the year 2024 there is still art in the Olympics but people start using AI to make it
I imagine they would be disqualified for "doping."
