- the 2019 hell in a cell match is one of the most infamous finishes and matches in WWE history. both men in the match pitted up against one another when they just didn't need to be and the result was not so good. wanted to do a quick little video, but didn't go insane on the editing or research. wanted to talk about this disaster 3 years later

It’s those things were if you don’t want any of them to win don’t book the match
Exactly
More like if you don’t want any to lose
They wanted The Fiend to win the title at Saudi event also they wanted that Fiend shouldn't get pinned at HIAC so it's more like you don't want any of them to lose.
The crazy thing is that Seth Rollins would then go on to have two of the best Hell in a Cell matches in the modern era with Edge and Cody Rhodes. You can tell that he REALLY wanted to redeem himself from all of this.
That Hell in a Cell match with edge was almost perfect man.
@@grantslater861 would have been perfect if Seth won. Made no sense to make edge win, Seth shoulda gone over
@@sau7306 Seth shouldn’t have won
@@theitfactorjameswheezer2852 how?? that's stupid because ever since that feud they've been building him up and he was even given a chance at the wwe title until Vinve messed that up and ended up giving it to Brock
@@theitfactorjameswheezer2852 you right I should of won that match 😤 I got robbed
Honestly, Rollins didn't deserve to get booed like this. He's the one that got unjustly disqualified in a match where he didn't even do anything wrong.
Well we can't cheer either, WWE will think we like it and will keep on doing it
I agree I enjoyed Seth Rollins as a face and I even liked him when he got booed but good thing he’s getting cheered again but now as a heel
What if one did win
The boo was more towards WWE for being dumb but people were tired of the babyface Seth Rollins and no one wanted to see Bray Wyatt loosing or looking weak too
Not why he was booed he was booed due to his off screen actions aka the twitter comments bout mox and osprey as well as his character gettin dry n having no tough opposite attractive to go against him. Plus wwe destroyed what hell in a cell was all about. So it was a mix of Rollins fault n the companies. So yes…. I would’ve booed too
Rollins redeemed himself by giving us fabulous hiac matches back to back
facts the Edge match was top tier imo
Redemption
Honestly, I really hope we see some kind of "Dark Side of The Ring" episode about the events that unfolded backstage after this HIAC match in the future. You can tell even Rollins hated the outcome he was forced to follow.
"Booked from Hell - HIAC 2019"
why didnt you stop when the ref told you not to hit bray huh?
@@SuperkickStudios LOL😂
can anyone tell what is "dark side of ring" is it a kind of documentary by wwe or something like that.
@@deadmanwalking5741 yeah takes you behind the scenes they’ve done stuff like owen harts death and chris benoit etc i’m pretty sure
@@ricolee613 so wwe owns this documentary right
Undertaker: throws Mankind off the steel cage 22 ft high, almost to his death
Ref: Meh, He'll live
Seth Rollins: uses a Sledgehammer
Ref: BAH GAWD ALMIGHTY! HE IS BROKEN IN HALF! STOP THE DAMN MATCH! ENOUGH'S ENOUGH!!
🤣😭
Was the second ref line supposed to be read in JR’s voice? Because I read it in JR’s voice
That's how you know it's the pg Era vs the Attitude era
To this day, the red lighting is the thing that bothers me the most. As we all know, the match sucked, but the red lighting made it worse. If anything the red lighting made this match seem less scary than it already was. And of course, need I mention the finish.
Vince has a fetish for the red light,he tried to gimmick all of kanes matches with the red light in 97,but it was trash
It Looked orange on the golden 1 center jumbo tron
I disagree i liked the red lighting. It gives a more serious feel
@@KDB349 I disagree with you
A lot of fans hate the match because a lot of fans hate the match. It's a feedback loop. People hear something is bad, they also believe it to be bad.
The HIAC match was great, besides the DQ ending perhaps. What factored into the match being hated were :
1. IWC wrestling purists rant
2. fans anticipating the worst from vince so they can complain, it gets them dopamine
If the match happened under HHH era, it wouldn't have been that hated.
I’m just amazed that Seth not only survived this atrocious booking decision but he’s more over now then he was then. I mean 95% of guys careers are dead if that happens to them and now he’s arguably the most over guy in the company again.
Yeah because wwe immediately turned him heel and gave him a new character and continued building him up and give him some amazing feuds with edge and cody
It took him 2 and a half years to recover from that, it definitely was negative for his career.
this is gonna be a new series, but instead of looking back at single matches itll be look back at PPVS. example - the best unforgiven, the best nxt takeover etc
Boy good luck on tryna find the best NXT TakeOver. There’s so many good ones.
I’d say it’s gotta be takeover Dallas for me
@@KhaledKetata its between New York and New Orleans if were being honest
@@SuperkickStudios bro you read my mind. All the Brooklyn takeovers were fun times. And New Orleans was good too. Also you forgot dallas. The event where Sami and Shinsuke gave us a barn burner
@@KhaledKetata New York 2019.
It really can't get easier than that. There could be a debate for the 2nd spot but No.1 is fixed for New York 2019
I can tell you a few things
- this infamous match in Sacramento was a huge finger to HHH, Shawn Michaels, Undertaker and Mick Foley.
- when a crowd chants for your new competition(AEW,) that's when you know you've given them free promotion.
- And when a hashtag to cancel your streaming service trends globally that's generally indication of a bad night's work.
Booking a hell in a cell to end with a DQ finish was one of the dumbest decisions in WWE history. This is what happens when you don't build people up to be credible threats to you champion. They just booked themselves into a corner.
Man, I expected seth vs the fiend to be the best match on the night, I was so hyped for this match. Back in the day Hell in a cell meant something. But around 2010 HIAC just got worse and worse by the years went on.
taker vs punk is the worst hell in a cell imo
Hardy vs Orton is an exception and Seth vs edge was also good
Taker vs Brock 2 was good imo. But after that apart from Cody vs Seth, Seth vs Edge, Roman vs Jey, and Usos vs New Day I don't really remember a HIaC that was amazing or great.
even seth said in an interview himself that he seriously wanted to strangle vince for how horrendously booked this clusterfuck of a match really was.
I remember how much I hated this match when I first saw it back in 2019. I was so furious that they ruined what was one of the best match types of all time. Even years later, even after hearing from others on how this is somewhat good storytelling in terms of characters, I don’t care. I still hate this match and forever will, because of how they massacred HELL in a Cell. Here’s hoping that after Roman’s match in 2020, Edge’s in 2021, and Cody’s in 2022, this can be a redemption for the Cell.
Rollins definitely redeemed himself for that 2019 Cell match match with this years performance. Not that it was his own fault in the first place.
edge and cody's matches were with seth tho
Sasha vs Bailey and Drew vs Bobby are so underrated.
Matches like this is why although I understand the appeal of The Fiend that I thought it was stupid to have him involved in Championship matches.
he shouldve been used sparingly, poeple still dont understand that. he doesn't always need to be on tv
Tbh I agree with you Bray Wyatt is creative mastermind he really don't need any of the title to make the storyline entertaining.
Honestly if they HAD to book this match and couldn’t just have a clean finish. Wouldn’t it make more sense for Bray to beat the shit out of Seth then the ref calls it? Just have Bray repeatedly beat on Seth with no pin attempts or anything to make it seem like the Fiend only wants to hurt Seth and not win. I know it may have made Seth look weak but it makes significantly more sense than the ref feeling bad for some supernatural creature
Worst ending yes
Worst match no
The hell in the cell matches on raw were even worse
Correct
I still don't get it why they conduct Hiac matches on Raw like whenever you have a Hiac match your intent should always be that the match should be brutal and destructive doesn't matter on which show it is but they always book lame Hiac matches of weekly shows.
No.
One of the funniest parts about this is WWE stopped doing the Watch Along because X-Pac said what everybody was thinking.
Bro I was there live lol. When I tell you everyone was pissed. Everyone was PISSED. I felt bad for Rollins dude was booed out the ring.
Do you guys think Goldust will finally win the Smackdown Women's Championship at Wrestlemania Backlash this thursday?
Yes
Nah bro Heath Slater will cost him the match
Nah the hurricane will cash in and become champ
With Linda mcmahon as the guest referee I doubt that's gonna happen
@@beesatisfying1025 and finally fulfill the 3MB prophecy by dethroning Roman Reigns and becoming the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Yk it's bad when seth rollins mentioned that he is willing to choke vince for coming up with the ending and bray wyatt basically said imagine how I feel (agreeing with rollins)
These videos are so good. Very glad I was reccomended this channel.
appreciate that hope you enjoy them
Good for Seth to have two banger HIAC matches after this one. He redeemed himself (not that this one was his fault).
This match was easily one of the worst of this decade, maybe even of all time. WWE ruined both Rollins and Wyatt and totally hurt their credibility like why a disqualification lmao ? Atleast Seth Rollins totally reinvented himself and became one of WWE's MVPs since his heel turn.
Taker vs Goldberg man….but i get what u mean
@@benjaminthomas3191 disagree. Taker vs Goldberg wasn't a feud or a match that mattered long term in the WWE's creative process. This one ruined 2 stars with the most potential at the time.
@@harishsubramanian1241 how did it ruin these superstars people are just over exaggerating
@@benjaminthomas3191 But they were already established. Nonsensical outcomes like these would’ve ruined the career of Rollins
Great content and insight I couldn’t figure out why I felt so funny about their feud and individual runs
this is beautiful another post great job
Good video I watched the entire thing
I was actually there for HIAC 2019. People were actually into Roman and Byan vs Rowan and Harper. I really enjoyed that match. Hell, Orton vs Ali overdelivered. But yeah, Seth vs The Fiend got the worst reaction by far.
I think this is THE worst booking decision in WWE history
1:31 I think the Money in the Bank event is the only exception to this. Because it's prestige and value of the event and the match type itself is now equivalent to the Big Four. Maybe now called the Big Five for the first time since King of the Ring 2002.
I didn’t understand why the ref cared for bray if he was supposed to be a demon
AYOO that’s a wild ass tweet from Brazzers😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Yeah I ll admit, I'm a Fiend fan but Seth Rollins really did get screwed in this match, who ever heard of DQ in a Hell in a Cell. If that s the case, where was the bell when Undertaker chucked Mankind OFF the He'll in a Cell into the Announcer s Table LOL
Or when he fall a second time in the same match and lost some of his teeth
At least Seth didn't bury The Fiend like Goldberg did!
1:32
Money in the bank is a HUGE success to make it its own Ppv so that was a bad example, I’d actually call mitb a top 5 ppv of the year.
Without them doing this, we wouldn’t see Seth cashing in at wm31
We need another episode of booked but good video
despite what happend in 2019, i am glad they took it seriously and we got better hiac matches in 2020.
It feels like Bray has been in a constant cycle:
Cool gimmick, builds momentum
Gets somewhere and then they go crazy with the supernatural goofiness or he ends up losing when he shouldn't
He then flounders for awhile
Repeat.
I remember I stopped consistently watching WWE in 2017 cause Jinder had just beaten Nakamura, since then I would only watch a few ppvs, I watched the build to KofiMania and his match vs Bryan but besides that I was basically done with WWE. Then I heard about the Fiend character and I came back for this match and that finish almost killed my love for wrestling altogether. If I never found out about AEW in late 2019 I prolly would’ve never started watching wrestling until CM Punk returned. Glad I came back tho cause 2020 was a good year for both companies imo and made me forget about this disaster
A whole corn site throwing shade is something I'll never forget. 😭
Ah yes, the classic story of this particular match.
What a redemption 2022 Hell In a Cell was for Seth Rollins. Main eventing since that match and producing a 5 star classic against Cody Rhodes
I Was Upset Simply That Was Two Years Straight That It Happened
Taker vs Kane realizing it’s no longer the worst HIAC match: *surprised Pikachu face*
This was the first firefly funhouse match. The red light was to signify a dream world like Freddy Kruger or Vecna (Stranger Things). Thus why he kept standing up. Again, the match and concept was fine but the finish messed it all up.
I agree with your point he shouldn’t have been a constant. I think it dropped the intimidation factor and caused them to run out of material they could really do with the gimmick
The way to fix it is simple, reduce brays “superhuman” stuff. Hell hit him with a fake taser and then have him win.
Restarting the match would have saved the match
I was there and the boos were all I heard. Even after the show went off the air.
This is the moment rollins knew he had to turn heel
2 years in a row that Hell in a Cell ended in a DQ. That's like ending a Submission match with a pin. It's like if War Games started and ended with the first entrants. It's like if the Royal Rumble went from 30 to 29 people for no reason.. wait, this year's Rumble was exactly like that.
That will always be the dumbest ending to a match in WWE History
Just the thought of that Hell in a cell match makes my stomach boil 🥴
Terrible, one of the worst things they've done in a while. Bray no selling everything, the repetitive offense by Rollins, and that damn red lighting, he ending was the capper to the shit Sundae
Don’t think I didn’t notice that Edubble - Opening Day background music😏
The most worst thing for me was the injured Seth has beaten the Beast. That was the WTF moment of the year for me.
They ruined Bray Wyatt with that match. Glad i at least got to see him in Sacramento before his eventual demise. RIP.
Aye man… U ain’t slick … U snuck 8:12 in there 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Im begging you to turn the volume up a bit in your videos, man
If they had just let Bray Wyatt win clean after tanking several curb stumps and hammer shots it would have built the fiend even more , but no, can’t have Seth lose clean after failing with the bad booking against Brock
Honestly the wsc prediction action figure match of the fiend vs Rollins was better than the real match
Like making hell in a cell a ppv was not bad enough they do this ,ppl we're not as invested in the fiend and eventhore seth recovered from this he was never the same again after it😅
This was when Vince really needed to go like really really
This was the only Ppv I ever went to lol
I hate that I went to this 😭😭😭
I had concussion
I'm honestly surprised people didn't track down the refs socials and direct the hate toward him.
This match almost killed WWE altogether bro. This was the bottom of the barrel of Vince's "I'm too busy doing weird sex shit with Johnny Ace and my interns to book anything coherent" era 😂
Hot take -liv Morgan is not a good wrestler or a good champion and it's not because of her bookings. She doesn't feel important to anyone cause of how she sells and cause of her moves. She only knows one-way to sell and that's screaming.and the only reason she is the current champion cause she is a beautiful woman with lots of social media influence. She can say how much she has passion for wrestling but the truth is that she was never and never will be a big deal
Agreed
What would’ve make more sense is if the match just continued as it was but then at the end, the referee stopped the match because he thought that because of all the items on top of him the fiend was unable to continue, then it would be a no contest and then the fiend got back up 20 seconds after the bell rung like nothing has happened and chased after Rollins, this way they could’ve had Rollins retain the title and it also would’ve kept the fiends reputation In tact.
Thank God Vince Retired Vince Dementia hurting the fricking WWE Triple H will fix everything for the best
I Believe This Was The Point Where People Stop Watching And Switched To AEW
The only reason that match is called the worst ever is cuz it ended in dq. But that match is what began to bring back more brutal attitude era type moments. That was the first match that brought back head chair shots. Bro literally tried murdering bray by crushing his scull with an unprotected sledge hammer shot to a toolbox on his head. It’s kinda dumb it ended in dq but he literally tried to murder the fiend. That match brought back so many brutal moments
The first chair shot to the head had me hype as fuck
2:29 lol Brock didn’t know what to do with the door
Worst thing to ever happen to HIAC is becoming its own ppv
HIAC 2019 was a contribution to the rise of AEW
AEW is terrible rn 😂😂😂😂
@@EliasRoyhe’s talking about during that time
I haven’t watched this match in years…Twitter that night was ruthless
This fued with fiend made seth what he is today...visionary...revolutionary....freakin awesome rollins
How?
Fact
I was there!
I don't care if that was for storytelling reasons the only story I saw was witnessing what could have been an undertaker level character get ruined by the second match (first being finn balor)
This is the match that made me quit wrestling, I still haven’t watched wwe since
I still stand by what I said in 2019 and that's that I was FINE by this finish.
You see, this was bound to happen the moment the hell in a cell match was announced.
Fiend was a character that didn't need a belt. He didn't need to constantly appear either which is something that couldn't be avoided if he was the champ. Rollins dropping the belt too early wouldn't made sense either so they had to book things in a way where Rollins don't lose the title but at the same time Fiend looks dominant hence the finishing shot of that ppv.
After that, I believe they just put the belt because of the incredible amount of heat thrown at them because fans can't digest how storyline works and just wants a "clean" finish.
The only way all of this could be avoided is to NOT have a hell in a cell match to begin with. Have them fight in a no DQ match or something. There have been times when matches like them have ended in a no contest so that could've worked.
Point is, I believe both the fans and the company were at fault. Fans at overreacting so much online that it made me cringe and WWE for booking them in a Hell in a Cell match.
All in all, Rollins has pretty much redeemed himself with having two of the absolute best Hell in a Cell matches of all times against Edge and then Cody Rhodes which is the 2nd only HIAC match with a 5 star rating.
p.s. I still believe that the 2019 HIAC was a decent show and better than SummerSlam 2019 most definitely, a show for which everyone seems to have a boner on
The crazy part was that I was there
That Fiend and Rollins HIAC match literally made me stop watching WWE. I just started watching again a few weeks ago once it was announced HHH was taking over creative.

If bray didn’t win there would of been boos but what made it worse was the stipulation a hell in a cell match ending in a no contest…give me a break
Dude I remember being there with my brother. We where saying oh someone will help Rollins cuz there’s no way fiend looses clean and then the pile on took forever I remember still holding on to anything good and then the stoppage I remember looking at my brother back at the ring then back to my brother and both of us where completely taken back at the idea of stopping a HELL in a CELL match we started booing so hard. Like it’s supposed to be HELL ON EARTH
End of an era was my one of my favourite hell in cell match and worst you know well
1:28 You forgot Elimination Chamber
Rollins peaked in 2015 and man imo the best heel champion run ever.
A Hell in a Cell match ending in a DQ under any circumstances is just ridiculous. It's Hell in a Cell for crying out loud!
I don't think the credibility of fiend is ruined, undertaker had some bad matches too i mean terrible but recoveredd and based on windhams great character work he'll recover easily. And the way they are building towards his return with white rabbit stuff and QR codes is phenomenal.
We are forgetting that it was never Rollins who booked this, it was Creative
I literally wanted to throw my remote at the TV at the time when the Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt ended in a DQ, the only good match that Bray Wyatt had with a Sheild member was Roman Reigns in 2015.
In my opinion this was the worst match in wrestling history
Definitely the worst wrestling matches and ppv's of the 21st century
It would be really good if they had done Finn bàlor the demon vs The Fiend Bray Wyatt
Honestly I liked the red lights for the fiend but the cell should be the original
Wwe should have slowly builded the fiend bro they rushed it just like 2015 Roman Reigns
Seth's reaction after the HITC match was bad, I agree. He did mess up in twitter. But you have to feel for him. It was him against the whole world. WWE was supposed to have his back, but they had a new toy to play with now so they left him alone to take all the hate and beatings alone. And personally I think he got frustrated and made some mistakes which he has redeemed himself from very quickly. I don't think those mistakes should define his character or even his legacy. He is an amazing guy, and he has proven time after time that he is up there to be considered as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time(personal opinion).
Agreed he's more like the Modern Day Goat of Pro Wrestling.
No it won’t lol. It was clearly Vince’s stupidity
