Thanks for the kind words. Always cheers me up and helps with motivation. Saying that whether I can afford them. 😂 But if i find one at a decent price then for sure I'll pick one up. Thank you so much for the information as sometimes I do forget that there are other brands out there. 😉👌 And thanks so much for the sub. Much appreciated! Have an awesome day! 😊😊😊👍🏼
Actually the track is glued when an event is on. I was thinking of trying to try the track the Monday after. Either the car will grip or blow up into bits as they say the glue is strong! 😂😂😂
Yeah will keep pushing. Thanks to all of the great ideas I should have a much more successful next run. Plus the temps here are slowly increasing which means the track will be nice a sticky the next time. Thanks so much for watching and supporting our channel. Wishing you a fantastic day! 😊👌
Boy that still looked super-fast to me! My butt clinched up a couple of times when you got close to the wall lol. Hope you get to do another run with the 4 cell
What sh rating are your foams John? That thing absolutely roasts all four wheels at any serious throttle by the sounds of it! Looks like the surface out there was pretty slick somehow. Time for some softer compounds maybe?
No idea the sh rating i am afraid. No idea where the tires came from. I think the track was mega dusty and not warm enough to gain grip. However the weather has now turned and I think there is an awesome time in this car. Especially with the changes I will make. 😁😁
@@JohnRobinsonRC the track certainly didnt look sticky. A decent set of known brand soft foams probably wouldn't hurt either. Be fun to see what you do with it!
@@DanjaBis honestly mate. I think the original tires have it in them. It's just this crashing at 120+ kph that stops play... But got loads of solutions for the next run. 👌👌😁
Meanwhile, it's almost MAY and no sign of pre-orders being shipped from Rlaarlo... how are we suppose to build and test for the speedrun competition next month?
I had confirmation & tracking number from Rlaarlo that my preordered Metal roller was sent on the 18th April, I ordered mine on the first day of the presale 15th March. I also ordered the carbon roller as well on 6th April but no confirmation yet on the one being sent yet.
All pre-ordered rollers that were among the first 500 had there's ships by April 20, as promised...and, because of some last-minutes changes, all pre-ordered RTRs that were among the first 500 had a slight delay, but they shipped by April 28. Anyone who ordered during March, but were not among the first 500, should have theirs shipped around May 3, and anyone who ordered during April should have their shipped around May 10. Those last two dates are according to the email I received from Rlaarlo 4 days ago.
Hi John good run no crash To bad the tires didnt stick better .I like wl toys 124016 tires after the tread wears the better they grip . They will run 70 mph just did 69.5 mph with my snrc r3g belt drive today with 2s battery .Cant wait for my AK 917 RTR .D o you know when shipping will start thanks .
Yeah I honestly think the original tires will work. Just need to figure out the 120+ kph crash issue. Cars shipping very soon. Let me ask Rlaarlo again.
Didnt look/sound like the foams were gripping on the main track, motor sounds like its accelerating but the car isnt-maybe they arent suited to a rubberised surface. Maybe try a run on the clean concrete to the side of the main track??
I don't know... I ordered a brand new carbon fiber ones just cause of carbon parts, the cool aero and the look of this car, but I don't want to regret for it. For what I've seen in various video , it looks like it becomes pretty unstable over 100-120km swaying all the ways and loosing control. Looks like something related to steering or the servo pulling some way at high speeds, but I am just guessing. Even this kind of drone revs noise during accelerations is quite thrilling. However, the built looks solid and pretty good. If I was you, I would try to run on normal asphalt. That one looks more slippery with that oily stream on top of it.
Mate. I will be honest with you. Like I am always as I know it's a lot of money. It is a great build quality car. Goes so fast. On high speed gearing and a subaru impreza shell i was power sliding on my small roof and it was so controllable. (should have been able too with high speed gearing.) And the 120+ kph i am convinced can be solved with either 2 tiny front wing flaps or removing the rear ones. I am testing soon. Twice i have crashed at 120+ kph and the only damage was the front wheel hub. Any other of my cars crash at that speed and I would need to brush it up with a dustpan and brush. Every time I work on I am smiling. Its great. And if I can find higher shock towers it will also rally. I am convinced of it. So if you believe me with only one thing this year then believe what I wrote. 300 for this car is bonkers cheap. Don't like it. Not conviced? Sell it for a profit. 😂😂🤣👌
@@JohnRobinsonRC That's really good to know mate. I really like this car and hope it's gonna get a great 1/10 scale platform for speedrunners. But well, yes.. sometimes it's easier to get attracted by a good looking sight, when it's the performance that matters. So, hope there is even substance in this nice rc model other than beauty.
Hello, with the motor that comes from the factory you can use 4s? I ask because there are many kv for 4s, it exceeds the 50,000 revolutions that these motors can withstand, thanks and good video
I know they were originally planning on shipping out this car on the 20th or people receiving it starting the 20th. But it looks like they still need to do some more work on it before release but I’d rather have everything all worked out before receiving mine whatever time they need to work on everything is fine with me even though I’ve been really awaiting this release from Rlaarlo.
John, why don't you just take two 2s batteries and run them in series to make 4s,that way you'll have more than one 4s battery. I know you may need to play about with the car, moving bits about so it fits and get the weight balance correct etc but just an idea mate. Best of luck with the channel and I hope you,Colin and the rest of your family are well
Yes we are all well buddy. Hope you are keeping safe and well and the family? Get this mate. Same day I recorded this. Got home. 3 x 4s batteries waiting for me... 😂 Typical.
Yeah problem is that that side had very bad holes. As the temp increases then the track will get much more slippery. I will go back to original tires and I think I solved the crashing issue. 😁👍🏼
Loving these 917 vids John.. it's fascinating. The sound it makes when you kick in full throttle is brilliant!. Sucks about the slipping issues on this run, but it's still interesting. I notice that right alongside the drag strip there's a nice looking regular road.. have u tried running it on that to see what the traction's like?
Yes but I don't have another area to do these speeds on my island... I think as the track warms up which it will now, that the grip will come to it. 😊👌
Foams don't work on drag strips. The rubber on the track is too smooth & slick for foams. You need to get a set of medium compound rubber racing slicks(not drag slicks).
Great stuff. Thanks for the info. Was answering comments from the previous video where people were stating I should use foams. Sometimes I do things to show the results on my channel. I don't always know the answer myself until I test and usually half comments say one thing and the other half another. 😉 Have a lovely evening.
If I were you I would try driving on the pavement right to the side of the track I guarantee you will have better traction on that then you wouldn't with all that rubber down on that track especially with foam tires
