    Hey fightiips love your vids especially the one on neck strengthening I’ve added the weighted neck raises to my workout and I’m enjoying the process I do have a question if you have the time to answer I’m starting my Muay Thai S&C based around bodyweight training which I do on Mondays and I do Muay Thai on Tuesdays so I’m wondering in your opinion would it be ok to do bodyweight training on the Wednesday? Or does bodyweight training take more rest days ?

    Thank you. This is very helpful. Question- is there a reason to ever slow down your Jabs, especially when you’re training? I feel like I’ve build my speed and power for a decade now and slowing down isn’t an option unless I really need to train for it as well? @fighttips please advise 🙏🏽

    Hi Shane. Great content. Your drilIs have been really helpful. I was wondering if I could ask a question? I’m learning Muay Thai (novice). I find that I am stronger with my legs (orthodox stance) but stronger with hands (unorthodox). Also I am better snowboarding right foot forward. I also learn juggling left hand dominant. What would you recommend? Should I just focus on one and use switch stance? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Shane, Big fan from India and great tip. Just have a question. When do you want to use parry like there are so many defence technique and for me I just randomly switch between each technique. Sometime I use this sometimes I use that, but is there any particular situation for the parry or it's just like go with the flow?

    • @TF_NowWithExtraCharacters
      @TF_NowWithExtraCharacters 9 месяцев назад

      For me the parry and shield block (just covering up and taking the hit) are the default blocks, cos they are the fastest and most energy efficient. I tend to mix in some of the rest occasionally. Firstly, so that I don't get too predictable.
      And secondly, parrying is a good defense, but it doesn't do anything to advance your goal of winning. After the parry, you reset your arm, they pull back, you're both back in the same starting position. If you're mostly parrying, then mix in a different move, you can catch them off guard and break their rhythm. Some examples:
      - Switching to the "chopping" kind of parry leaves their arm hanging out, you get a chance to step in for your own attacks
      - You can parry while stepping in towards them, which puts you in range for a counterpunch (more like jamming your fist in their face as you step forward). Elbows too, if you use those.
      - If you're dodging to the side, you can convert that into a side-step. That opens up options like bodyshots, pivot and you're in position to attack from a diagonal angle.
      - It can be a simple as changing levels: if your opponent likes to throw 1-2 combos, parry the first and drop for the second. You're fully loaded for a straight cross to the body, or if you're moving in, that gives you uppercuts, liver shots, clinching options.
      The hits don't always have to be loaded up for power, breaking their rhythm is the most useful part. It makes them afraid to attack again if they're getting punished for it. Plus, they're not expecting it, so they're not braced for the hit. And sometimes you're just jamming your fist in their face so they can't see what you're setting up to do next.

    Wasn't this about catching punches rather than parrying punches?
    From my understanding you parry a punch by making contact with the wrist area to deflect the punch.
