Thank you guys so much for all the hard work you do especially recently. The summer cup, new rules, amazing community and great interview with Will Shick has me feeling very spoiled and appreciative!
Hey just a quick one to help, with Notched base units when performing a full move you DO still have to slot the movement tool into the back of the base, and for partial moves you still effectively 'slide' the unit along the tool so that the notches line up! Easy one to miss, but it's covered in Step 6 of Notched Base Movement on page 26 of the rulebook, hope that helps! Love the batreps as always, and you know the community loves a Salt Crown xD
Thanks for putting these videos up - it's made it way easier wrapping my head around the new rules! Also nice to see I now have a reason to dust off Rex haha
Might be worth mentioning that you measure range to the terrain piece for each mini in the unit. At around the 47:30 mark you check range to cover from a unit leader, and then cohered the rest of the models back out of range of cover. Seems to be a piece of the determine cover step people are glossing over.
Love your new Legion videos. They have been a lot of fun to watch. I wanted to call out though that Recover the Research only cares about you contesting the POIs you do not need to secure them. This means that as long as you have one unit on the point you can score it regardless of how many units your opponent has there.
First game i had with the new format was imperial v rex and annakin. It was very painful. Needs a slight shift from my old playstyle - but i think it comes down to not trying to win by wiping the opponent out and focusing on the points. Thanks for doing these games, they are helping a lot.
Hey guys thank u for another batrep! Revenge of the Salt Crown indeed! Just as a reminder for the next time, i believe in this objective u only need to contest, not secure.
Thank you guys for the awesome video. Helps me learn all these new rules and something to watch as I cut out all these new clone cards. I find with these new points I'm running things I never wanted to or had points to run like jetpacks on my Arcs or waxer and Boil. I got to run 42 clone troopers yesterday in my first game of the new rules. All HAIL THE SALT CROWN AND THE SALT KING!
Thanks again for showcasing all the rule changes! Don may have had to wear the Salt Crown again, but he set up that shot of the LAAT under the arch, which was 👌
The return of the salt crown as Don almost accidentally won the game. For those curious, the actual score was 11-11 at the end of round 3, but of course you guys would have played differently knowing the objective rules. (Not complaining I appreciate you guys putting stuff out so quick even if there are mistakes). In addition to recover the research being contested not securing, the sweep and clear scoring is based on where the attacking unit is not the defending unit
Great episode guys! Sad but happy to see the return of the salt king!! I agree that it’s tough to be a Dark Trooper in 2.6. The plodding and reduction to armour 3 is tough. But I’m really loving the new game so far.
Thank you guys for another awesome video. It is so great to see the new rules and updated units. A lot has changed and it’s nice seeing so much so fast. Sorry Don that the Salt Crown returned so soon. On a side note. Whatever continuity that game existed in, Gideon better prayer Anakin is dead.
The return of the salt crown! Thanks for the new videos with new rules - fun to see! One thing to note - new transport deployment is not done via old school disembark. It is a speed one move of off the base of the transport not the unit in base contact with it. Also - Recover the Research scores if the point is contested - doesn't need to be secured. So both of you on Turn 2 would have gotten 1 extra Victory Point.
Minor thing you got wrong on transport. The disembarking unit doesn’t first go to base contact with the vehicle. The speed 1 movement tool touches the base of the vehicle. These have been helpful to watch because I pull up rules and double check my own understandings. Sometimes I’m wrong too. I realized Spur gives you a suppression for each spurred move. Thought it just increases your speed for the turn so a double move would be 1 suppression. Oops! Surprised no one ever called me on that before!
Great game guys. Joe, rebel vets have low profile...take duck and cover for 1 suppression to get lite cover and smoke grenades to get heavy...then you can cancel one hit with low profile...it has worked well for me. A big unit of vets can for sure hold a back point with dodge standby.
So much fun to watch! The Salt Crown Strikes Back! Was thrilled to see the LAAT get some use. With the updated dice and weapons, as well as the new transport rules, I think the Empire version with Rudor is going to be a major threat. Still not sure about the Republic version, as I'm not sure what to put on it.
Another plus for the snows is combining them with gideon's Ruthless ability - lose one of your 10 snows, but potentially get that flamer in range a bit quicker.
Aaaahhh...episode 3...I didn't dislike it as much as I should have :) revenge of the saltcrown...some great lines: hello there...I will do what I must...I have the high ground...goosebumps!!
Revenge of the salt crown! But also notched base units most use the notches beginning and ending. And lethal happens after the cover roll, so don't spend those aim before you have too.
Loved seeing the return of the salt crown, keep the great videos coming. One thing of note: for Recover the Research you only need to Contest the POIs not Secure.
Loved seeing the return of the salt crown but I felt bad for don cause I know that feeling all too well. It is weird seeing dark troopers not wiping the board, all my experiences against them end badly haha. Love the work you guys are doing, keep up the great work.
'When the salt crown returned it did not yet look as problematic. However it got worse quite fast. thanks for explaining the rules. Also the dice were a little on the republic side with the black dice.
Revenge of the salt crown. Great to see Rex and the sabre tank again. Glad they have a huge glow up with the new rules. Might have to try a double sabre list now
That silver half range ruler is awesome. Get that up on the shop SOON! Also, my wife is always sad when Star Tours (What are you doing here?) is not featured in your videos. Loving the 2 videos a week, although I know it is not going to last.
Thanks again, boys. The moments when the dice land with a terrible result for Don and there's an abrupt cut even before they finish rolling, I just know that we'll be seeing the fabled Salt Crown right after,,,
Great bat rep. I would have the salt crown as well, if i was in Dons shoes. Real quick, deploying from a transport, the movement tool goes against the laat, like normal deployment.
New version Star wars, but the salt crown shall stay forever. this was a really interresting fight, and this shows that in the end the light side will always, in the end, prevail :P
It's been a little while, but the salt crown strikes back. Great game guys! It was really nice to see armor and transport shown off with the new rules. Keep up the good work!
hey, I like your batreps and your explanation of the new rules very much, even here in germany 🙂. If I read the rules right, the POI's are half range high, and blocking LOS
Nice to see you taking the new rules in chunks. Really good way to ease into the changes. It seems unfair to me that the Dewback and emplacement troopers can get cover while the AT-ST and similar -sized base vehicles can’t get cover. I’d like to see the no cover rule only apply to large bases vehicles
If anything this Bat Rep shows us is that the new version is still subject to swings in the dice ranges. Where this really comes into play is resolution of cover. Overall resulting in the Return of the Salt King!
correct me if im wrong but Recover the Research only cares about Contesting POIs, not actually securing. So if you have at least 1 unit in range if a POI you count as contesting for the purposes of scoring that primary.
Great battle report guys! I dont get how did you get those 2 VPs for enemy terrytory? The card says that the atacking unit shoud be in the enemy territory while killing a unit, isnt it? I am not sure if I did not see something or if you assigned 2 VPs for killing enemy unit staning in enemy territory. Keep up great work, and I am looking forward to seing more of your battle reports!
You mentioned that aiming increases your weapon range for Five's clone unit? The only thing in the rules I've seen if only if their weapon has the key word Long Shot. Do clones now have the Long Shot keyword? Everything else in the rules around Aim action just gives them an aim token which is only used to re-roll misses...
I may have to model a little salt crown for my DRK's. They definitely play different now; instead of being your vanguard and soaking up tons of fire, they instead take some time to get there but can solidly push forward into enemy objectives and still take some solid hits while contesting/securing.
Shore troopers now have long shot on their gun
Rex’s 2 pip allows units that take an aim action and have a face up token to extend their range by 1 to a max of 4
Ah! I missed that part. THANK YOU!
