Piers has a point. My catholic-raised mom wore headscarves and turbans back in the 1970s. It was just the fashion. A piece of clothing like any other. We can wear a scarf around our neck, but not on our head? Yet we can wear a hat on our head? How ridiculous.
How about the Muslim dress? Should a woman be forced to wear a Western suit to work? Maybe let's pick on her jewelry, too? Let's scrutinize every piece of her outfit to make sure it has no religious connotations?

The solution is really simple. She can pack her bags and find an equivalent job in a Muslim country, where she does not have to fight for her right to wear a Hijab at work place.

The difference is that the Islamic Iranian government is beating, jailing, poisoning and killing women for refusing to wear a hijab. ISIL (the Islamic state militia) forced their sex slaves to put on hijabs before they raped them. Those Yazidi women when they were rescued by American soldiers, the first thing they did was rip off their hijabs and trample on them. If Piers condemns Shamima Begum because of her association with ISIL and endorses her being stripped of British citizenship, he should also be consistent here. Hijab is a symbol of Islamic terror and fascism, it should be banned jsut like the swastika.

As an orthodox Jewish woman, I will be covering my hair after marriage with a wig, as it is customary to the specific sect of Judaism I belong to. Does it mean I wouldn’t be allowed to wear a wig if I admit doing it due to religious reasons? What if I claim it to be my personal style? 😁 This is honestly just ridiculous
P.S. Please note that if you are a man who believes to be the opposite sex, then your „belief“ is very well protected and you can dress however you like, even in a very inappropriate manner in front of young children.

Like wearing shorts when working in a lab or as a nurse or something or wearing a hijab when you are working in some sort of sterile environment where you have to put on those shower-cap thingies or a whole suit (although that one may be able to fit a hijab underneath, I honestly don't know).
So bottom line is: As long as there is no valid reason as to why something should not be worn, let the employees have their right to wear what they want.

There is a law that have been pass that makes it illegal to wear any religious symbol if you are in a position of power. This included teacher, police mostly. So the law is special because it makes it illegal to discriminate Muslim women to work at a grocery/kinder garden/private company for instance, but make it mandatory to not wear any symbol for some government roles. This law doesn't apply in any place in the private sector since private corporations aren't in a position of power over citizens.

I live in Canada, here you can now take your drivers licence test in 7 languages but there is only one language written on our road signs (english for the whole country, except for Quebec). So if you are taking your test in a language other than what is on the signs because you don't speak or read that language, you are a danger on the road and are now behind the wheel of what could easily become a killing machine (this applies to any country in the world). There was a taxi driver who hit and killed someone and said he did not understand the road sign, thinking it was not his fault...
We also can no longer say merry christmas or other things that this country was founded on. I am all for someone from another country coming here to make Canada a better place but bringing all your cultural/religious or negative things you left behind your country for and thinking you should be able to force those things on us and change the way we are allowed to live is crap. You should go back to whatever country you came from if you think that is right and just.
Could I go to a country that does not speak english (my native language) or have the same customs as I grew up with (be they religious or not) and expect to change the people in that country? I can't wear shorts in a Muslim country for example, why not? I can in my country. There was also a big thing in the news about some kids saying they want to wear swords to school as it was part of their religion, their whole community was up in arms about it, it was a big enough issue for them that it ended up on the news. This is ludicrous!
If you come to live in my country (where I was born and raised in a certain way, with certain ideals), you assimilate, if I go to live in your country I need to do the same. If you don't like that and think you should be entitled to act as you wish, don't come here, I would expect nothing less than the same to apply to me.
Don't get me wrong, we all have choices, rights and freedoms in Canada, some of the great things about the country I live in and I am totally fine for someone who is from a different country with a different religion and culture and language to come here (my wife is from a different country with a different language, customs, culture, etc.). Again as long as people are coming here to make this country a better place FOR EVERYONE then great, welcome and nice to meet you, in general just be a good neighbour. If you can't or don't want to do that then you are not welcome here.
If I can't express my religious views in public, schools, etc. because it will somehow be the end of the world to someone who did not grow up that way, they also don't get to express their religious ways anymore. Pick a side, what's good for the goose is good for the gander, you can't have it both ways, either no one can express their religion in anyplace but the home or their chosen place of worship or we all can.

@@velocity4143 First I never said anything about a hijab anywhere or it being a negative thing if you care to re read. And I often speak with people from other countries to get to know them (my wife is from another country with a different language, culture, ideals, etc.), I try to be a friendly, welcoming Canadian (I usually say, welcome to Canada, I hope you are happy here) and alot of people from other countries complain and say how they hate Canada because it is not like where they came from but they just finished telling me how terrible it was in their home country after I ask what is like to live where they grew up (this is the "bringing negative" things part).
Second, again if you care to re read and not cherry pick to turn what I said into something bad for whatever reason, I strongly believe that everyone should have personal freedom of choice for how they dress, their religion, political and ideal views as long as they are not forcing them on others around them who also have their on ideals that may be different (like how a smoker don't see that they are effecting everyone around them or usually care but expect others to always wait for them to smoke, stand outside with them in the cold, stop at the store so they can go buy smokes, stink up everything they sit on or places that go into, this is 100% forcing their ideals and choices on others and is a perfect example of what I am trying to say, most Canadians do not smoke, a very small percentage do and effect everyone else's way of life here).
Third, there are many people around the world who are forced to dress, act and believe in a certain way based on religion or political ideals of others around them.
Forth and again, like I said before, come to Canada and make it a better place, respect that you are the new person to an established way of life and that you should be fitting in with Canada's way and not the other way around. If I move to another country I would expect to do the same for the people and way of life there.
Fifth, when I HAVE TO change how I greet someone during a holiday (that I grew up with in this country) because someone from another country with different ideals might not like it, that's the crap part, when I have to drive on the road with others who might not understand the road sign because they can now take the road test in 6 other languages that are not on our road signs, (making them a total danger on the road to others), that is also crap.
Come here to be a good neighbour, be friendly, do your best to help out your fellow Canadian, while respecting the next persons choice and privacy and you will be welcomed with open arms, if you don't want to do those simple things (common courtesy), don't come here.
Sixth, you bring up drag shows in preschools? Umm...? Preschool is for learning about shapes, colours and how to become more social with other kids, sexuality and especially cross-dressing should never be part of that.

    • @veedub272
      @veedub272 9 месяцев назад +1

@@arroe8386 Well the English language is based on romanized letters (Latin basically), but if you only read Thai, Japanese, Korean, etc. for just a few examples, the letters or characters are completely different and could quite easily pose an extreme danger to those on the road with another driver who cant read the signs. Yes the number or symbols have been thought out well enough to hopefully have anyone understand their meaning but the large green signs (for example) that tell you what road or exit is coming up for could cause someone to cross multiple lanes at the last second, causing those behind to have to break hard and maybe cause an accident. Then I am in Canada and those used to driving in the USA and crossing the border (again, another example) could also mistake our speed limits as a much higher speed because of not being able to understand what KM means.
These could be other issues as well but these are just a few.
If I was going to drive in another country (and I have before) I would make sure that I was familiar with the local laws and could read/understand all road signs before I did so. After all, I am not only taking my own life into my hands when behind the wheel but also my passengers (whom I love very much and are super important in my life) and those around me who are sharing the road with me. Should I make a mistake and possibly cause an accident, people could die, including my passengers or myself. I would have to live with that for the rest of my life. Ask yourself, is it worth that risk simply to allow more drivers on the road to get more tax money?
If you cant safely drive, park, reverse a vehicle then you have no business driving at all. Yes there are accidents, people are not perfect but simple steps taken to greatly reduce those risks are obvious and should be mandatory.
Everyone should be REQUIRED to pay $2000 or more to take a 3 or more month driving course and it should be hard enough that you very well might fail the first time and have to do it over again. Then you should have to pay to take a written test every 5 years to stay up to date on new laws (there never where any traffic circles in my city growing up, now they are common but people still have no clue how to use them and I see near misses while using them all the time).
Make it expensive and difficult to get a drivers licence (including being able to read and understand the signs) and the roads will be much safer, road rage will be close to nil and people will treat driving like it should be, a privilege, not a right. They will see value in how hard it was to get a licence and not abuse it for fear of losing it and having to start over. Insurance rates will drop significantly, far less traffic, public transport would improve drastically from all those who do not deserve to drive. We all win.
