    The Prime Minister has said he will give his backing to public authorities that put in place ‘proper and sensible’ rules to ban women from wearing face veils. We’re joined by Saira Khan, who backs David Cameron’s comments, and Cherie Blair’s half sister and fairly recent convert to Islam - Lauren Booth - who is not impressed and says that this is just another way to alienate Muslim women in our society.

    I must be totally different here because I don’t see a Muslim with a cover or not as a terrorist but I don’t live in the UK. In the U.S. I’m constantly thinking terrorist when I see random white, American born citizens who are draped in our flag and have a belt full of weapons or assault rifles attached to their backs. Those are 95% of our problem here

    What percentage of Muslim females know that wearing the face veil isn't actually a religious requirement. Saira is right, it's cultural. It comes from Middle Eastern/ Arabic culture. Growing up here in London back in the 80s & 90s you rarefy saw British Muslim females wearing the veil, the burka or the hijab. Maybe older women, but not teens or pre. teen girls It seemed to become popular amongst young female Muslims after 9/11.

    • @logic7742
      @logic7742 Год назад +2

      Which أصول are you using to determine that it is merely Middle Eastern/Arabic culture?
      Moreover, even if middle easterners/Arabs were doing veiling before Islam, that does not necessarily mean Islam does not make it a requirement to veil. This is not a logical conclusion.
      Your argument is illogical because it is like saying, Arabs were circling the ka’bah 7 times in the jahiliyyah time period and doing pilgrimage to this place. So this practice of circling the ka’bah during hajj is merely from Arab/Middle Eastern culture/traditions and hence not Islamic. This is not a valid conclusion which you can draw.
      Hence, we are required to utilise the نصوص in order to determine what are Islamic practices, and what are not.

    Distinctly in school teachers need to see the state of children to carryout their role fully - religious of not, covering the face is bad in institutions like schools and I think general homogeny in society...in a country such as the UK with a wide range of freedom and protection.
    I think there have been two fears, external cultures overriding British cultural ideas (rather than celebrating culture), and more modernly terrorist activities driving this need for change - both lead to lower integration between communities...
