    Although Emirates have changed there pricing for these Fifth Freedom Flights between Hong Kong and Bangkok opportunities still exist especially if you're going round trip. It's too much to explain in a comment so I've written an article on the Grey Gap Year Website mygreygapyear.com/emirates-price-update-hong-kong-and-bangkok/

      @@mygreygapyear Hi Phil - another nice video. Was this flight before the one in First with EK?
      As for the A380, I'm not so sure. There was a speculative CNN piece which raised the possibility, but Airbus have repurposed the A380 assembly line to make the A321ULR and they are running at full capacity with an order book of over 8000 aircraft to fulfil. These will be mainly for the A320 family which I assume are profitable, whereas the A380 wasn't. And have any airlines gone public with an interest in new A380s? In any case, Emirates have orders for over 100 777Xs from Boeing. When (if?) they start arriving, some second hand A380s may be on the market!

I would honestly pick all three of the business class seats I've tried on Qatar over this.

    • @mygreygapyear
      @mygreygapyear  Месяц назад +1

      This weeks video is about that exact topic 😊. If you're flying into Hong Kong and then going directly to Macao or going the other way, From Macao and then flying out of Hong Kong without needing or wanting to go into Hong Kong then you don't need to clear immigration or collect your bag.
      So, flying into Hong Kong and onward to Macao, go to the transfer desks in E2. There are two ferry desks, walk past those and around the corner to the bus desks. Buy a ticket (mine was free but the listed price is 280HKD or about £28) and give them your luggage receipt and they will get your bags for you. They'll tell you where the gate for the bus is too.
      You go directly to Macao and clear immigration there. There'll be taxi's at the port but if you're staying in or near a casino hotel there will be free shuttles from about 8am to 8pm and no one cares if you're staying at the hotel or not, you can just take the bus.
      On the way back you can get a ticket at the port or purchase your ticket online, www.macauhkairportbus.com/
      You can check your bag at the port in Macao if you're flying onward. It was odd for me, I checked my bag and then got it back and then checked it again at HKIA, but once I was at the airport I checked my bag in check in area just for airport direct bus passengers, went through a security check which was again just for bus passengers and there was no queueing at either.
      One I was through security I was airside at Hong Kong International Airport and I could go to the lounge or to the gate.

    Hello, I ask an unrelated question please. I travelled BA, PE to Dubai from ABZ, out end of March return early April, my tier point year ending in May 2024. I received 400 tier points as a result of the double points promotion so 10+90+90+10 x 2 so remained Silver.
    With the new adjustment tier point period in force, I’ve now been given 100 points for the April return flights, into the new year finishing 31/03/25. I’ve rang BA several times asking if it should be 200 roll over points due to the double promotion. Each time I get told they’re not sure & will check, if so I’ll receive the adjustment within 10 days.
    I’ve still not received anything. Do you think I am entitled to the 200 tier points or am I mistaken??
    Thanks

    • @mygreygapyear
      @mygreygapyear  Месяц назад

      Hi There, thanks for your question, if you flew out in March and returned in April then, in my opinion, the April flight should count in your transition year from 1 April 2024 to 31st March 2025, and since that flight was part of a BA holiday then all the associated bonus points should also come across (so a total of 200 points for the return flight).
      I think you're next move is to email BA, I've got an email address for this specific purpose off FlyerTalk
      exec-club.socialmedia@ba.com
      Another email mentioned is: customer.relations@holidays.ba.com
      So I would email one and copy in the other. You should at least get a written response to your query, call centres often kick it down the road in the hope that you'll run out of steam or at the very least it won't be their problem.
      The issue is, of course, training. If the call centre op knew what to do to solve your problem or answer you're question then they would, happily. But they don't know what to do with it.
      Good luck and let me know how you get on.

    Great Vid, Phil. I LOVE Brooklyn 99 as well. I'm waiting for you to say something that I can quip with back with 'Title of your sex tape' 😆.
    I'm still struggling needing 195 points to progress to Silver by 8th Sept. Time is running out and I'd be gutted to miss out. Can you be my Captain Holt?

      Thanks for your comment, I'm glad you caught the "boiled rags" comment, I always think of that scene when I'm offered a hot towel.
      195 points before September the 8th is very short notice. I did a cheeky search for any last minute holiday bargains the other day, long story short, I didn't find any, sorry.
      If your budget is the issue then I think UK travel in August or early September might be your best bet flying between two provincial airports via Heathrow. Manchester to Jersey is £443 in Business out on 5th, back on the 6th September which is £2.77 per point.
      Or some shuttles between London and other airports, Manchester to London is £198 out on 31/08 back the next day with a similar option for the next weekend.
      Of course you are in your transitional period, so any points you earned after the 1st April this year are counting towards your current transition year which ends on the 31st March. If you earned some of your other points since April it might be worth looking at a trip to Southern Europe in February or March.
      Good luck, let me know how you get on.
