I’ve been flying since i was a kid in the 60s. At 62, I never fly coach internationally, it’s just too hard! I always fly Business Class, which is what you were on, not first class, allowing greater legroom, more privacy, and direct isle access. It’s worth it every dime, I tried economy plus or premium economy with much greater legroom, wider seat, separate cabin, Miami to Argentina return from Santiago Chile, and it was just miserable.. another benefit is you have rapid security entry (which saved me 1 hour at heathrow this week) & you eat in the business lounge, board, skip the meals and pop an ambien to get a good nights sleep. Awaken refreshed, and hit Europe ready to roll. In the case of British Airways, they have an arrivals lounge where you can get coffee, shower, and be much more alert and refreshed. Heathrow is a disaster for pre-flight waiting, there's simply not enough room! The business class lounge offers solace & comfort while waiting to board.
Agree 150%. I will make concessions elsewhere in my travel budget to have a guaranteed comfortable flight experience. I had a passenger fully recline their seat in Premium Economy and crushed me the entire flight. Never Again!
I fly Delta exclusively. What’s nice about Delta is the Sky Club and the free luggage are not exclusive to First or Business Class. Sky Priority check in is though. I use the Sky Clubs when I travel and rarely go First or Business.
I think there are some packages where you can upgrade, lounge included. That may explain crazy kids. People today are also clueless and entitled. (No headsets or cleaning up after yourself). I love the space and service in 1st class. Drinks help too.
I've only noticed paper plates once and that was recently at Detroit Sky Club, cant remember which concourse club I was in though. Most lounges have glassware. In regards to the mess they left. Rude, but the staff typically come around with carts for that stuff. First Class doesn't buy class though unfortunately. I've rarely has a negative experience though. Also keep in mind flying first class isn't everything. If your on a Delta ticket and hold an Amex Platinum, Amex Delta Plat, Amex Delta Reserve card (even if your boarding pass is economy) you get lounge access. Excuse my typos. Sent from my iPhone.
I've been lucky enough to fly United Polaris a couple times from US to UK and experienced a big difference between the United Polaris lounge vs the United Club lounge. My understanding is that the United Club is accessible to a lot more customers, credit card holders, etc, and so it was always busy and hectic whereas Polaris lounge was the total bougie experience you'd expect. Thanks for sharing your Delta experience!
I'm a big fan of United Polaris business class. I fly non-stop from Berlin to New Jersey. The Polaris lounge in New Jersey is amazing. I'm almost 6'6" tall and I try to get seat 1A which is the first row obviously. On either side that seat has a wider foot well than the other seats. When I recline the seat completely I still have rom for my long legs and my size 15 feet.
In February 2024, my wife and I went on our first "flying" vacation since 2019, we chose Delta and upgraded to First Class on our Boston to Punta Cana international round-trip flight. After check-in (which was awesome) and security (I got patted down), we headed to the new Terminal E Delta First Class lounge. But sadly we were denied access. The receptionist told us that the lounge was only for First Class passengers going to Europe - not First Class passengers going to the Caribbean.
The receptionist lied to you. Delta definitely does not offer first class on flights to Europe. Or are you lying to us? There is no Delta first class lounge at Boston.
@@HeicoHomburg Please google "Boston Delta Sky club E13". I believed that our first class ticket would give us access to this lounge, but it didn't. I later contacted Delta customer service and they confirmed that only First Class passengers going to Europe got free access to this lounge.
In the day I had status from weekly business travel - that fills up the priority lane and lounge. Lounges vary greatly - Orlando is always a zoo as a family vacation destination. Glad you got to try it.
Great video. Thanks for sharing your experience. I've managed 1st class a couple of times where I got an offer to upgrade while I was checking in, and it was a no brainer decision when you consider the perks. Looking forward to the "HOLA Hawaii"......thanks for considering my suggestion. ;)
In Biz or First, your checked bags can weigh up to 70 pounds, instead of the usual 50 pounds. I rarely even check a bag, but when I fish in Alaska, I take advantage of this to bring home 140 pounds of fish.
As a frequent traveler, I can offer a few insights: Delta usually gets about the highest marks for customer satisfaction, and my experience certainly bears that out. Delta personnel up and down the line are the friendliest and most helpful, hands down--everyone from booking a ticket, resolving problems, checking baggage, gate agents, and flight crew all seem invested in giving passengers a good experience. Unlike the other domestic airlines, Delta employees are just plain *nice*. That said, Delta generally ranks poorly when it comes to quality of their lounges and quality of their food on board. So, if you want to eat well, fly United, but expect the experience to be combative and surly. On the other hand, if you don't mind average food but want to be treated with a little bit of respect, then you might consider Delta. Back to lounges-- it's common practice at Delta Sky Clubs to leave the dishes for the staff to take away. In fact, there usually aren't too many places for passengers to discard their own dirty dishes, since the staff generally do an efficient job of cleaning up. That's one of the perks. And as for noisy, entitled passengers, I can't disagree with you, and I'm wondering if that experience was amplified (no pun intended) because you were at MCO, home of the Mouse and other family attractions.
Because I'm over 1.80 m and not skinny economy is not done for me on long haul flights. So this year I have 2 cruise , 1 from Vancouver and 1 from Galveston and I fly business class. In Europe I will fly economy with an extra legspace chair. But like you said..2x business cllass will give a free flight in return. And I will get pampered, what I really like ;)
Went through MCO in March with an American Airlines first class ticket and made my way to their lounge only to be told that the lounge was ONLY for international passengers. I was offered a year's pass for $800. NOPE
I prefer United Polaris. The lounge that they have in both IAD and ORD are pretty great. I love the food they have there. Especially the cookie Al La Mode. It’s a fresh cookie in a tiny cast iron pan that’s sizzling hot but, it was amazing. I literally had to order thirds of it when I tried it. I paid $850 for the entire ticket in United Polaris from Barcelona to MSP via IAD and ORD. I’ve never seen a ticket price that low before so I decided to purchase it before the price increased. I’ll do it again if I can find a fare that low. One thing I gotta add is that, I was delayed overnight in Chicago and the agents in the Polaris lounge gave me a hotel for the evening, $100 USD in food vouchers that last me for a couple days after I got back home, access to the Polaris lounge the next day after they put a not in the system stating the reason of my delay and rides to and from ORD airport. I’m also eligible to receive €1,000 worth of compensation for my delay that was over 18 hours in Chicago
The Orlando Delta lounge is hit or miss. Sometimes it's packed, and sometimes it's empty. It's definitely better than the other lounges in MCO or the gate waiting area IMO. And I would definitely get the beef short rib if I were on this flight.
That amount of snow in the UK brings the entire country to a halt lol 😂!! Seriously, the buses stop running , trains are cancelled and schools are shut etc . My friend from Canada thinks it’s hilarious 😆.
People are so rude. This is why I can't get my husband to hardly travel any longer. I just stick my sound canceling earbuds in with white noise :)to block out the rudeness.
Thx for sharing the experience especially for those who have never flown in business class. From the video, I think you are flying air bus 350 or air bus 330 neo. They are the best biz class offered by Delta. Delta lounges are too crowded since a lot people get access through credit card deals. But the new Delta one lounge is fantastic which offers a la cart dining experiences. Last month at JFK, my wife had Halibut and I had wagyu beef. Both are superb. I always book Delta one if it is over six hours, especially it is an overnight flight so that I can rest when I arrive. I wish I can fly REAL first class like the one offered by Singapore airlines. They have a real full size bed and a shower. They also provide food on demand, not just snacks. I enjoy travel. So I have to save/invest to reach my goals
I have the Skymiles credit card & you used to be able to go in the lounge by paying a fee if you had a ticket & the card. It was Miami so of course it was packed. The best thing was once it was clearing out it was nice & quiet. But Delta has added more restrictions on entry.
Very funny vid mate! Yep at 5'5" you're good with leg room in any class but being able to have space is relaxing. BC costs more of course but I always judge it as part of the trip. And with Delta and their partners you never know what jet will rock up - newer a350 or and older one of the a330s. Best part of their BC and KLM/Air France is you usually have aisle access from your seat - some airlines have a 2-2-2 configuration and only 4 of 6 seats allow it. Too bad about the lounge - it's the airport you flew out of , kids = plastic and noise. Boston has a brand new Delta lounge and it's fantastic , people are the same though , leaving their plates behind etc.
Hawaii os my favorite geraway state and I've been on every single county aka island. Im curious as to you impression of Maui and ot yoi had enough tome to experience sunset on Haleakela, the world's larget dormant volcano. Aloha. 🌺
Your excitement for travel is infectious! And yes... like so many others... feeling your angst at so many rude and self serving people such as the noisemakers in the lounge. It seems like you had good attendants and nice experience in business class. You deserve it!
Delta has been working hard to keep the riff Raff out of the sky clubs, but each time they do, people are up in arms. I'm surprised there were so many as they really clamped down starting with this year. 🤷 Sort of.
If you want a real shave ice. Waikiki is not the place. The mom and pop shops around Honolulu are the best. You can also get them wirh ice cream. I personally love Ululani's.

As someone who has admittedly very little experience with this class of travel booking, I honestly didn't know there was a difference, (as I'm sure many others do not). Or do you believe that just because “One” is in the name? Delta One is a typical business class, and not even a bad one. Delta does not offer first class at all on long-haul international flights. Btw: The fact that the lounge is full because the entire SkyTeam alliance only has a single lounge at an airport like Orlando is not a fault of the lounge, but of the alliance.
