Awesome tip I am off to make a few things for a project like a propeller for my boat been trying to figure this problem out now at last an answer thank you so much for sharing this valuable information
Use 2 boards and the PVC will be extremely flat and straight. Set them on the floor and stand on it stepping on different spots to make sure it all goes flat. I use a can but I just set the pvc inside and heat it from the top and about half way through I take out the pvc and flip it and put it back in for a little more heating. I built a complete rudder hinge, rudder bracket and even the rudder for my sail boat out of flattened pvc. works amazing and will not rust, rot or detioriate. I Did like your video though!
+phartattack Yes normally that is how we flatten it as you said. If you heat it up so it sort of become floppy You find you do not have to reheat.. Also found it would be much better to do this outside as the fumes from the PVC can be a bit over whelming.

what i did is got 6- 200 bl.steel meal plats i put one on the floor and 5 on top i had to heat up the plates as well did not want them to be cold but i also did not want then to hot if it summer time set then in the hot sun for 15 to 20 minis then if to hot let then cool down a pit inside the more weight the the more flat but also to much weight might make then thin
Or you could just skip all that and stick it into the oven set to around 200*-220* then set it out onto a granite counter top and put a heavy cutting board or such onto it until it cools...
Randy H. Yes suppose you could the reason I did this way that it is in a small area so it is done quickly. You also have to be aware of the gases/fumes.Doing this out doors would be ideal. Also realize have done this in the work shed.Which could be done but if you must do it indoors use a extraction fan,to take the gases/fume away.
Entuk Jodo Yes that would be the best way to do it. We generally take one board put on a hard flat surface. Put heated PVC on that. Then put another board on top of that. To get PVC flat simply stand on the top board for about 20seconds.
