  • A trip around Sofia with old Bulgarian tram type T6M-400 "Sofia 100" #435. This tram has been used in the past only as a training tram and currently it's the only one left from this type. Hopefully, it will be completely renovated in the future and will be in operation as a museum tram.
    T6M-400 trams also known as "Sofia 100" are made in the Sofia tram factory between 1979 and 1987. 69 units were assembled in total. Visually, the tram is looking pretty different from it precursor "Sofia 65", but from technical point of view they are almost the same - with two sections, three bogies and 50 kW electric motors, mounted on the first and the third bogie. Generally, those type of trams as you can see or rather listen in the video, are very noisy, which probably is the biggest disadvantage of the model. The advantages - they are extremely simple and reliable.They were in a regular use till 2014.
    In the middle of January 2020, due to the 14th anniversary of the transport portal gtsofia.info, the tram was hired specially for the all fans of the public transport. We have made a big trip around Sofia. In this video you will see the first part of the trip, from the Banishora tram depot towards Obelya district and Zhournalist square in the center of the city.

    Firstly, thanks for your efforts. Nearly 10 years ago, i had seen very old type and highly noisy trams from eastern germany to konya in turkey. I do not remember clearly its brand name but manufactured before 1989.

      Thank you! This tram definitely is not from Eastern Germany, it's made in Bulgaria. Overall it's not the best tram in my opinion. It's far away from the quality of the Czech trams Tatra for example, but it's very simple and reliable. Many of tram drivers in Sofia like to drive these trams because due to their reliability and quick accelleration (as you can see in the video, the tram is speeding very quickly to the maximum speed (60 km/h).

    Die grünen Trams stammen aus BASEL IN DER SCHWEIZ. Ich Stefan wohne in Basel. Die BVB Basler Verkehrsbetriebe spendeten ihre alte Trams der bulgarischen Stadt Sofia 😍

    So that's where the old trams from Basel (the green ones) were sold to...
    At least they are still in decent shape.

    • @IvoRadoev
      @IvoRadoev  2 года назад

      I think the Basel trams were donated to Sofia, we didn't bought them. I like them, in my opinion they are good trams, but unfortunately, the maintenance here is not the same as it was in Switzerland, so many of the trams doesn't sound very good now.

    It certainly is a treat riding a no-frills, narrow gauge tram in Sofia. But why is the audio quality so poor? I found it much more enjoyable listening to my music thru headphones, instead of the soundtrack...

    • @IvoRadoev
      @IvoRadoev  4 года назад

      I apologize for the poor audio, I forgot to put a wind shield on the camera, so that's why the audio quality is bad.

      Стрелката е автоматична, превключва се като трамвая мине под тяга на мостчето на контактната мрежа, което се вижда малко по-напред.

    Не е истина колко мръсен и сив град е София, извън идеалния център. Почти не е мръднал от 90-те години.

    • @IvoRadoev
      @IvoRadoev  4 года назад +2

      Някои квартали се поразвиха, но като цяло да, и аз съм на мнението, че на много места София не само че не изглежда по-добре от 90-те, ами даже е по-зле.

    • @NKNEYKOV
      @NKNEYKOV 4 года назад +1

      Да, напълно съм съгласен. Не, че центърът много се е разхубавил, но северните квартали са направо ужас. Живях в Обеля 2 до 1993г. и всичко си е направо същото.

    • @dwartbg1
      @dwartbg1 4 года назад +1

      Далече си от истината. Единствените квартали и като цяло места които не са мръднали много са Обеля и Дружба. Всичко останало в града е стотици пъти по-развито и променено. Да не говорим, че е снимано през зимата. Дори и в Германия в крайните квартали е мрачно и кално по това време на годината.

    The Tram driver is excellent for sure but the route is poorly maintained and the city is so ugly and dirty, except for the center of the town. It's a shame because it has wonderful pre-war architecture.
