This is gorgeous, Cat! I just love it!! Im lucky my husband understands my quirkiness because my kitchen is overrun with roosters and chickens and I love it! They make me smile every morning! Hugs, Debra
Thanks, Debra! I really appreciate you watching. My mom loved chickens and roosters, too and I have a few of her little figurines sitting around my house - they make me smile, too. 😊
Love the feel of this page! Cool look will try it soon!🖌thanks for the rub on tip-always wondered what I was doing wrong, now I know! Always doing it on top of my craft mat also. TFS!🎨
Love the look of crackle, it's like magic! lol.. Life is good for Mr. Rooster, the king of the hen house. I really like the background and have often thought about doing a project with crackle medium. Thanks for a fun video.
Absolutely gorgeous, but my jaw dropped open when your page moved and the paint went everywhere, so glad you managed to sort it all out. So cute, tfs xo
Thank you Elizabeth - yeah, that was a bit of a pain, but it did all work out fine and I'm really happy with how the page turned out. So glad you enjoyed it! TFW! 😊
Look at YOU!!! Super cool!!! I am going to look at this video again because I need to see what you do with the school glue. That is what I have, so I want to see how that works. Great morsel, one more time. Thank you!
Thanks, Glenda. It really IS a cool technique! Put a coat of the school glue on your page just like I did with the crackle medium - it should work fine. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 😊
I haven't been doing the morsels, but always watch the vids. This is a lovely one. I always enjoyed using the crackle effect on projects. TFS Love and Hugs, Pam xoxo
Another lovely page Cat, shall be trying this later. Luv your image, chickens and cockerels being one of my favourite birds, you couldn't have picked better. As you say the crackled gives a old look and I really like the finished background. Have only got glue so I will be using that technique. Thanks for sharing. Take care now, Ali x
Thanks, Ali - it really was fun (once I got past the big mess I made...lol) I'm sure the glue will work well for you - have fun! Thanks for watching and commenting. 😊
Super cool!! I don't have crackle medium, so I am going to go for it with glue. Can't wait to give it a shot... so many ideas floating around in my head. Thanks Cat!
I am familiar with crackling but haven't done it in a long time. I really love it when things crackle of their own accord but I am going to follow your awesome tutorial and incorporate this into a new journal page. I so love morsels!
Cat, this looks like a fun technique I haven't tried yet. So its very exciting. But I'm with you on that print. It couldn't have been more perfect! looks like something hanging in an old farmhouse. I love it! Bunches of love ♡ Chetta
Oh, good - I'm happy it's one you haven't tried yet, that does make it more exciting and fun. I was really pleased with how my little page turned out and I hope yours is a huge success, too! Hugs! 😊
Hi Diana - I hadn't tried it before, either, even though I bought the crackle medium a year or more ago with the intention of trying it, lol! But it really was fun and I'm sure I'll be using this technique again. TFW! 😊
I LOVE the crackle background! I have pieces of furniture that I've done crackle finishes on but never thought to do it as a background for a card.. hmmmmm... the wheels are turning... Thanks Cat...
Awesome, Shirley - so you've had some experience with "crackling" lol. Should be really easy for you, then. Yes, it would make nice backgrounds for cards. TFW! :)
Awesome page love the crackling & the image!!! I've done crackling with white glue on wood & metal it's a great technique to age a project. tyfs xoxoxo Angela
I forgot to say how much I love the Morsel. I use crackle backgrounds a bit but never thought of using them on paper/card in this way! I have also found that if you spread the school glue thinly, it gives a finer crackle like the crackle medium.
Diana, if you're using glue, use it just like I used the crackle medium in my video. It may take a little experimenting to get the right amounts of glue and paint. Have fun! 😊
That's What I Love about You Cat, You Keep it Real...LOL...Love using Crackle; just really makes the best Rustic backgrounds. What an Awesome Picture you found; TY for the tip on the Paper...I will have to try some :). Off to Play...Have a Wonderful Week Dear Heart...PS I adore Your ICADs Love you BIG Much, XOXOXOXO
I wonder if you used Cling Wrap on the backside, if it'd hold your paper in place as if it were taped so that paint wouldn't get on it. I love your finished page! And oh how I love that coffee and rooster image! That would make a great gift in one of your giveaways! Thank you for sharing your newest morsel with us, Cat! God bless you, SisterFriend!
I don't know, Roberta - I think that paint just has a mind of its own, lol! Glad you liked my little page and I hope you have fun making yours. God bless you, too! 😊
I love the crackle background. I bought some on clearance a while ago at a craft fair and I haven't used it yet. So here goes! Thanks for another great Morsel Cat. 😘
Costco had a two pack of patience. Luckily I only need one for the last project so I am good to go. Seriously though, I have done the crackle method before but it didn't work. This time I used glue; it looks great!
Crackle is very temperamental...lol But i have heard and found to be true that it depends on how thick a coat of the glue or crackle medium you put on is how fine or large the cracks are... That image is perfect!!Hugs! deb
+Cat Hand True. I'm coming up to inchies next but am missing stickers and small stamps. Maybe I'll do the others first? I wanted to do them in order, the way you designed them to be😊
+Weenie Lang Well, truly, you don't have to do them in order. 😊 If you have larger stamps, check them to see if you might possibly be able to use a portion of it on your inchies. And you don't have to use stamps or stickers at all - just use what you have. Draw or doodle on them, use images or letters from magazines, paint or use markers to make designs, etc. The possibilities are endless! 😊
I think the crackle on your morsel page is even better than your practice page, but then I like smaller crackle. My favorite is the porcelain-type crackle that's really tiny. This page turned out great. It's so unlike you to feature coffee! LOL
Thanks, Lori - I'm really happy with the way my little page came out. And yeah, I thought it was time to do something unusual... Lol! (But I do think it's the first morsel with a coffee theme.... isn't it?)
lol I love the "Please Stand By" notice. WHAT? A big mess? Say it ain't so!!! lol LOVE this page. That's an awesome image and it looks great on the crackle. Perfect! :-)
LOL, I'm glad you enjoyed the old tv test pattern, Laurie. I was cracking up when I though of it, so I had to go find one online. Sure brightened up the editing process for me! Yep, I made myself a big ole mess, lol! But it was fun, so no worries. 😊 I was really happy with how the page turned out - glad you liked it, too. TFW! ❤️
Amazing background and darling finished page. Many times I have had to do my morsel on a separate piece of cardstock then glue it into my book. It's ok - no one will know but us!! Lol. Question: about how long did you actually let the crackle set before adding the antique white paint? I know you said 'real time' but would you say no more than a minute between coats? And you DID let the brown coat dry completely? I'm sure you covered this already but I must have missed it, being engrossed in the whole video and process. Thanks Cat for all you do for the crafting community. Hugs, Cathy
Thanks, Cathy. Yes, I don't think I waited any longer than a minute after applying the glue. And yes the bottom layer of paint must be completely dry before adding the glue layer. You're very welcome - I enjoy sharing my videos and hopefully inspiring others to be creative! BTW, I will be chatting live on RUclips today with Barb Owen here: ruclips.net/channel/UCJhefLY4RI7JrQVzMC57-RA If you're not able to watch it live, she will be posting the recording of our chat in the next couple of days. :)
Love this one Cat! I'm going to have to search Pinterest for that download. My mom loves roosters and coffee. Growing up with my mom being an artist I knew about the crackle medium. But how do you use the white glue?
No, I did not dilute the glue - I used it full-strength. And the paint needs to be added while the glue is wet. Also, use as few brush strokes as possible for best results. Thanks for watching! :)
just one doubt. while using tte Elmer glue do I just wat for it to get tacky and paint over it? how will it crackle? Thanx for your art work, it is gorgeous
I waited about the same amount of time when I used the Elmer's glue as I did for the crackle medium. You can see how it crackles - it's the example on the top of the green/off-white card I made. You're very welcome, Sangeetha - thanks so much! :)
+Lisa Anne Thank you and welcome to my channel - I'm happy to have you here! Yay!! That's great news that you're starting a morsels book! I used a mini composition book that I found at Target, but the pages started falling out, so I took it apart and made a little binder for them. If you use a mini composition book, try to get one with the pages SEWN in. (Dollar Tree has them.) And you will need to glue 2-3 pages together to make them sturdy enough to work on. Other options are index cards, tags, coasters, etc., that can be bound together with ribbons or binder rings. Have fun and thanks for watching! 😊
Hi Cat, I'm back to take another look at your process. I tried two more pages last night. Applied PVA and left for one minute to dry naturally before applying 2nd colour paint to the first. Applied PVA and applied 2nd colour paint immediately to the second. Still no crackles! I will have another try today as I am wondering whether it's my paint, as I used Amsterdam which is quite heavy bodied. Perhaps it will work better with a runnier paint. Determined to get the hang of this, lol :):)
Keep experimenting - could be the paint, like you said - could be too much glue, not enough glue... Once you get it, jot down the formula that worked so you'll have it for the next time. :)
great page Cat , crackle is a bit funny , to get small cracks you have to load a good amount of paint on your brush ,so you can do one stroke of paint and not over brush it xo
Cat, Please can you tell me the model of the printer you use? I have been searching for one which will take card stock. I currently have two Epsons 😊 but neither will print on card stock thickness...
I have an Epson XP-800 printer. On the printers you have, in the Printer Properties, are you choosing the correct type of paper from the list before you print?
I did not make a video on this process - I just used a glue stick, pressed the pages together, and then scraped an old credit card over the page to flatten it and also get all the air bubbles out. I glued 2 or 3 pages together throughout my book. 😊
Hi Cat, this so helpful. I love that you keep in when you are "keepin' it real" and show the drying time in real time. Thanks x
Thank you Gillian - I'm glad you liked it! TFW! 😊
This is an old video that wonderfully lays out the process along with the options and pitfalls of this technique.
Thanks for watching , Laura! 😊
Thank you so much I really love ❤️ it too. It's very lovely and I really love ❤️ the rooster!!!!! Such a handsome guy!!!!!
Thanks for watching! :)

France's- for the school glue technique I should just paint a thin layer of glue directly on the paper?
Thanks, Frances - so glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the tip! 😊
Diana, if you're using glue, use it just like I used the crackle medium in my video. It may take a little experimenting to get the right amounts of glue and paint. Have fun! 😊

Cat-you sure love your coffee! :-)
Yes, yes I do!! LOL :)
Costco had a two pack of patience. Luckily I only need one for the last project so I am good to go. Seriously though, I have done the crackle method before but it didn't work. This time I used glue; it looks great!
LOLOLOL! Maybe it worked for you this time because you had that extra patience on hand... Thank God for Costco!! 😄😄😄
I have crackle paste, but think I will try with glue to see the difference. Thanks for sharing
You're very welcome, Beth. Have fun creating and TFW! 😊
Crackle is very temperamental...lol But i have heard and found to be true that it depends on how thick a coat of the glue or crackle medium you put on is how fine or large the cracks are... Thanks for the tips, Deb! Glad you enjoyed the video - I was really happy with how my little page turned out, too. 😊 TFW!
oh this looks fun. I can't wait to get to this:)
No need to wait - you can do it anytime! 😊
+Cat Hand True. I'm coming up to inchies next but am missing stickers and small stamps. Maybe I'll do the others first? I wanted to do them in order, the way you designed them to be😊

+Weenie Lang 😊😊😊
I think the crackle on your morsel page is even better than your practice page, but then I like smaller crackle. My favorite is the porcelain-type crackle that's really tiny. This page turned out great. It's so unlike you to feature coffee! LOL
Thanks, Lori - I'm really happy with the way my little page came out. And yeah, I thought it was time to do something unusual... Lol! (But I do think it's the first morsel with a coffee theme.... isn't it?)
Probably so. I know you're not trying to test my memory like that though! I will fail! Hahah!
+Lori H HA! I can't even remember for sure myself! 😜
lol I love the "Please Stand By" notice.
WHAT? A big mess? Say it ain't so!!! lol
LOVE this page.
TFW! ❤️
The image is perfect for the cool background - love it!!! Looking forward to try it out! TFS!!!
It's so much fun, Almut - I hope you enjoy making your crackle background! TFW! 😊

Love it.. Do you use the glue the same way?
Thanks! Yes, if you don't have the Crackle Medium, use the glue instead, in the same way. Have fun! 😊
oh I am busy smashing morsels....more later!! TEE HEE!!!
YIPPEE!!! 😊😊😊
morsel smashing is FUN FUN FUN!!
+Tammy Brackett I couldn't agree more! 😊
Hello Cat, did you do a video on how you made your morsel pages?
Do you mean how I glued the pages together, or how I made my book?
Or, one can have that be on the first side of the page and a different morsel on the backside...😀watching them all-A-Z (1-32)
Nice, love me some coffee
Thanks, Ivette! Oh, me, too! I picked that image because of the coffee theme, lol. TFW! 😊 ☕️ 😊
Love this one Cat! I'm going to have to search Pinterest for that download. My mom loves roosters and coffee. Growing up with my mom being an artist I knew about the crackle medium. But how do you use the white glue?
Thanks, Erin. If you don't have the Crackle Medium, use the glue in place of it, and in the same way I used the crackle medium. 😊
When you did it with glue, did you dilute it or use it full strength? And did you need to dry it before covering with the white paint? Thanks,
No, I did not dilute the glue - I used it full-strength. And the paint needs to be added while the glue is wet. Also, use as few brush strokes as possible for best results. Thanks for watching! :)
OK thanks Cat.
just one doubt. while using tte Elmer glue do I just wat for it to get tacky and paint over it? how will it crackle?
Thanx for your art work, it is gorgeous
I waited about the same amount of time when I used the Elmer's glue as I did for the crackle medium. You can see how it crackles - it's the example on the top of the green/off-white card I made. You're very welcome, Sangeetha - thanks so much! :)

great page Cat , crackle is a bit funny , to get small cracks you have to load a good amount of paint on your brush ,so you can do one stroke of paint and not over brush it xo
Thanks, Josie and thank you for the tip! 😊
+Cat Hand Thank you for the information. Yes, I have tried cycling thru the whole list to find one that will work.
+Frances Watts Ugh. I'm sorry you're having those problems with your printers...
How you glued your pages?
I did not make a video on this process - I just used a glue stick, pressed the pages together, and then scraped an old credit card over the page to flatten it and also get all the air bubbles out. I glued 2 or 3 pages together throughout my book. 😊

+ladylexusis350 You're welcome. And thank you for your kind comments. 😊
What size is the pages ? So if I can't find one I can index cards
+Lisa Anne Sorry, the mini comp book is about 3x4 inches. 😊
Thank you so much for your help
