I just made them tonight (soaking overnight) and I tried some. It was a success!!!!!! Thank you ❤
Wonderful!
I can't believe I used to watch you since I was a teenager, and now I have a kid and still watching you 😆
I've been watching her for many years too, at least 17 years. Her cooking content is great & so is her personality and fashion sense! Before watching a new video I wonder what sort of crazy groovy outfit or hat she will have on that day.
Saaame, I’ve been watching her since I was 12. Now I’m 23 and in college and I’m still an avid watcher
She has helped me love food again 7 years after my stroke.
And she still hasn't changed a bit😍
@@anu2405w I know and she doesn't age! I What's her secret?
My father brought home yakgwa to sweden from korea 15 years ago. And since then i have made these at least once a year since 2008. They are my favourites.
Jang uk's favorite
Ha ha! That's what I was going to say. I wanted to try them everytime they had some
sumpaaa😭
Alchemy of Souls stans running to this recipe 🏃🏻♀️
Literally why I’m here 😂😭
The comment I've been looking for🥰
Never knew much about my Korean background since I was adopted but by watching you I learn some facts and learned how to cook the food too. Been a fan since I was young
👍
Thank you very much for your nice comments and messages as always! Love you all! ❤
I just finished Korean caption, so English and Korean captions are available. 영어, 한국어 자막 올렸어요!
Hi Maangchi 언니, I am thinking to get your cook book. Is the ‘big book of Korean cooking’ your latest book? Do u have plans for a more updated book?

Omo... Yakgwa.. I know this snack from korean drama since I'm a fan of it.. I always wonder how yakgwa tastes.. and now you share the recipe 😍😍 thanks for sharing Maangchi
What can we use in place of Soju, we don't use soju or any other alcohol in our home😢
I'm Korean living in Australia. I never thought too much of this cookie when I was growing up because there were so many "more exciting modern snacks" in the supermarkets. I thoughts Yackgwa was "olden day stuff". But since I got married to an Aussie husband, we buy this often from Korean grocery stores, because my Aussie husband loves this. & Now my kids love it. I think it's better than other snacks that has so much food additives (colouring & flaver enhancers ...).
I tried making it at home once because it's very expensive to buy in my area($6-7 Au/320g), but I failed so bad I said I'll never make it again. I thought, What a waste of so much of expensive ingredients, (rice flour, oil & syrup). But the way Mangchi made it seems so easy, I think I'll try making it again. My family's gonna love it.
Good luck with making delicious yakgwa. Let me know how yours turns out. Check out the written recipe on my website, please.
After seeing the honey cookies in Alchemy of Souls, I've been waiting to try them. Thank you for the recipe ❤
Good luck with making delicious yakgwa!
@@Maangchi I know yakgwa from Painter of the night not alchemy of soul
I see these cookies on historical Korean series that have royal family, and now I know about one of the delicacies!
Omg i once requested this recipe on the blog, I’m soo happy for this video!!!

When i was visiting korea. We bought some famous honey biscuits on the market. It was sold everywhere there. I was so addicted. Now I'm looking for a good recipe to feed my cravings lol.
I love how approachable you make these recipes! I’m always intimidated by cooking videos that have super fancy techniques or tools, but your videos are always friendly and easy to follow :)
Thanks so much!

I'm enjoying these videos, honestly.
Oh man, I love those cookies. They're addicting as well as very pretty. Whenever my parents go to the Korean supermarket which is sometimes, they will pick up a container. You're spot on when it came to it being juicy, as well as it having a slight crunch when biting into it. Right, it leaves your fingers slightly oily. Also, they're quite dence and heavy which I love. Keep up the content. 🇨🇦
Yakgwa is my favorite Korean sweets
Thank you for the recipe Maangchi
oh so thats how its made. omg what a beautiful process. i once taste yakgwa and i fall in love 🥰 it tastes sweet honey gingery flavour
"You guys are all my loved ones, so this is for you, my Valentine's gift."
Maangchi is far sweeter than those cookies. Love your cooking!
The gingerly taste in the cookies makes it unique! It makes a nice tea time snack! Thanks Maangchi!😋
I bought a box of these just last week and ate the whole thing in one sitting they were just too good. I can only imagine how good they are home made.
I love recipes like this. A familiar thing (cookies) but made in a totally different and unique way. Really excited to try these.
방력있게 만드시고 금방 따라 할수 있게 설명을 잘 해주시는군요
Saya melihat video @Maangchi sejak saya menikah dengan suami. Suamiku sangat menyukai makanan korea. Saya belajar dari Maangchi tentang apapun makanan korea. Bahkan saya sudah berkali-kali membuat kimchi. Dan suami saya sangat memuji masakan saya. Terima kasih, semoga sehat selalu. ❤salam santun dari Indonesia.
I can't believe I happened to be eating these right now when this video popped up!! Incredible coincidence!! And I love these!! Thank you so much, I can now make them myself 🥰❤
Yes, what a coincidence! : )
I have been waiting to see this recipe! I have missed these since I was a child in village outside of Daegu in Gyeongsang province, my mother used to make these with her sisters. Thank you Maangchi.
I’ve searched Korean blogs and found out they say you can use Makgeolli or Cheongju or just wine instead of Soju. But I never tried with these, and they also used Soju, so I’m not sure that work well.
I can be wrong, but the reason you should use alcoholic drink is when you fry the dough, the alcohol evaporates and makes dough rise. For the best results, I recommend following Maangchi’s recipe. Let’s get Soju and make Yakgwa at home. 😊
I've always LOVED 약과 but I didn't even know how it was made, much less how to make it myself!! I'll have to try it one of these days
I'm going to suprise my mom with these, thank you!
It sounds wonderful!👍
Wow! I was not expecting a recipe for this I love Yakgwa! Thank you Maangchinim!
Same! But now I want to eat these so bad, I might just have to make them 😅

Thank you for the Valentines gift. I feel special and I love your recipes.
I can’t wait to make these for my valentine. Thank you again.
Amazing. We have the same thing in Greece, if you replace the oil with olive oil, the ginger with orange or lemon and the soju with ouzo.
Hey fellow Greek! 🎉 I've never had these cookies before, what're they called?
Just in time for Valentine's Day!! Thanks Maangchi!

we have indian version for this yakwa, we call badusha ,but its not made of rice syrup its made of complete sugar syrup but entire process and flour is exactly same, its even more sweeter .we indians dont use rice or corn syrup ,they directly use sugar syrup for sweets because of easy access
I was watching a TV show & you were on it!! Such a pleasant surprise. I forget the name of the show, but I think you were showing someone how to cook kimchee and something else. I think the person you were teaching was of Korean ancestry but she didn't know how to cook any Korean food. I'll be trying to make your Yakwa cookies, husband and I love honey!
